The widow of a daredevil stunt man, Tori Anderson finds herself swept into a dangerous and forbidden love affair when she becomes caught between two men, Navy SEAL Brody Hawke, and his identical twin brother, wealthy vintner Elliott Hawke, brothers separated since birth. Original.
Meryl Sawyer is a very gifted writer of romantic suspense and this book is one of her best. Of course, my cynicism has to rear it's ugly head, but I did enjoy this book.
Brody Hawke (eye roll), Navy Seal (eye roll), receives a letter from the father he thought had died years before, asking for his help. When Brody arives at the family vinyard, hediscovers he has a twin brother he never knew existed (eye roll, think The Parent Trap)and that his father has just died. He also finds an incredibly strong attraction to his brother's fiance.
Despite the eye-rolling, I really did enjoy this book!
Good, not great. The romance was just okay in this story, I thought it was a little too insta-love between the hero & heroine. I also didn't like that the heroine was engaged to the hero's brother when they first met. Thankfully the mystery/ suspense was interesting, that was the highlight for me.
I strongly considered this to be a DNF. I really tried to get into this book. I was just bored the whole way through. If I'd had another book picked out, even after five hours, I would've quit. I kept thinking it's going to pick up and get interesting, but it just never did for me.
Diamond in the rough... Most unrated author .. I used to read lots of books based on Goodreads ratings and reviews but never signed up to rate until and for this author, I signed up.
Brody Hawke is shocked when he receives a letter from a man who insists he is Brody's father. Brody doesn't believe it until he sees a pictures of his identical twin brother, Elliott. Traveling to Napa Valley, he finds his father has died and he has inherited part of the family vineyard. Brody also meets Tori Anderson, Elliott's fiancee. Drawn together, Brody and Tori set out to solve the mystery of his father's death.
This is a standalone romantic suspense book by Meryl Sawyer. I learned a lot about the running of an old-fashioned winery which I found interesting. But, I found the book wasn't particularly suspenseful. The romance wasn't bad. I was just glad that Tori had already decided to split with Elliott before Brody came onto the scene. What I did like was all of the twists and turns in this story. I was very surprised by some of the secrets that were uncovered. I also like the developing relationship between the brothers. My rating: 4 Stars.
This one took me a little while to warm up to...probably because every book I've ever read about vintners portrays them as diabolically eccentric, immoral elitists. Although there were a number of these stereotypical characters, there were also enough very likable "normal" (yet thankfully flawed) characters that kept this book from becoming a cliche. As always, Ms. Sawyer skillfully combines a truly suspenseful story with multiple twists and turns with a nice dose of romance.
It was just as cheesy as I thought it would be but sometimes a little cheese is good. There was definitely more romance than suspense but it was a fun, light read.
I did enjoy this book. Good summer read, romance, suspense, pretty likeable characters. When I first started it though I couldn't help thinking of the Parent Trap! :-)
