The cover calls the book "unique" and I agree. Stream of consciousness memoir of years spent in a French orphanage in the Alps as a refuge from the Nazis - tortured by the punishing staff and abused and tormented by the other boys - this Jewish boy is totally alone. Emotionally very hard to read.
