Health Psychology: A BioPsychoSocial Approach
In its first edition, Richard Straub's text was acclaimed for its solid scientific approach, emphasis on critical thinking, real-world applications, exquisite anatomical art, and complete media/supplements package. The thoroughly updated new edition builds on those strengths to provide an even more effective introduction to the psychology behind why we get sick, how we stay well, how we react to illness, and how we relate to the health care system and health care providers.

From what I read of it--and it wasn't all 700 pages--I really enjoyed this and wish I had had more time to dedicate to a close read of it along with taking notes. Straub addresses sex and race disparities in a way that is not typical of your average white male in the realm of psychology, which was refreshing. I appreciated that he and his colleagues also explained more intricate biomedical concepts accessibly.

Meh, pretty dry, but I liked the course that went along with this book.

This book was very well written for the subject matter. Straub did a good job of progressively giving the information to clearly understand it.
