Three women get their wishes granted, albeit not in a way any of them are expecting... Serendipity by Joanna Wylde: Sarai has lived through one terrible marriage. The last thing she needs is a new man in her life. But Jax isn't interested in taking "no" for an answer... Craven's Downfall by Stephanie Burke: She didn't want to marry the boring man she was bound to, so when one simple wish lands Nola inside a world filled with exotic creatures and erotic fantasies she thought it was a dream come true. But the thing about fantasies is that they never last...or do they? A Wish Away by Marly Chance: Tiffany has a bad history when it comes to birthdays. This year, she's made it 12 hours into her birthday and she's taking no chances. Well, except for that one small birthday wish she made. She wished her sexy best friend, Zak, would notice her and that her routine life would get more exciting. What, after all, could go wrong with a wish like that?

Overall I had to rate this a 3. Although, I enjoyed the first story more than the other two. The third one was part of a series. For some reason, I just couldn't get into the last 3rd story. It was my least favorite.
Wicked Wishes contains three novellas, "Craven's Downfall" by Stephanie Burke, "As You Wish" by Marly Chance and "Serendipity" by Joanna Wylde.
Here's my brief thoughts on each story.
"Craven's Downfall" by Stephanie Burke - Well written and clever. It was wonderful to take a peek inside Ms. Burke's view of the true differences between Love and Hate and then make them individuals, although this story wasn't about them specially. Craven was uber sexy as was his story and his heroine Nola was smart enough to know what she wanted in the end. I enjoyed it enough to love to find out what happened to other characters, especially Hate.
"As You Wish" by Marly Chance - Tiffany always has the worst birthday. So bad that she never makes birthday wishes any more. But wouldn't you know it, she inadvertantly makes a wish for a Zack, her sexy neighbor and best-bud to notice her and that she had more excitement in her life. Within seconds of silently making that wish, she finds herself being pulled along by Zack and told that her life's in danger.
I kinda felt like I'd walked into the middle of the story and wish I'd gotten the entire story from the beginning. Especially when her other friend Polly and Zach's brother Dran shows up. But even with my "wishing" that, I still enjoyed the story immensely and if Dran and Polly has a story out there, it's a good bet I'll read their story to find out what happens with them.
"Serendipity" by Joanna Wylde - Apparently, this story is a sequel to another story featuring secondary characters (sorry I don't know which and I'm a bit too lazy to look it up right now), but stands beautifully on it's own. Sarai was married to an abusive man who we discovers she killed when he threatened her children. She meets Jax Falconer who moves into her hostel and has virtually become attached to her hip. He promises that he'll never hurt her or her children, but she no longer trusts men. It's with patience and doing whatever he has to, that he earns her trust and love. It's an emotional story that leaves you sighing and smiling. After reading this story, I'm pretty sure I'll be on the lookout for other stories by Ms. Wylde.
Anthology. Oooh, this averages 2.83 stars but it's all because of Craven's Downfall. I'm going to bump it up to 3 because I feel guilty over the other two authors.
I have a small complaint that I'd like to make. When an author has a story in an anthology and then sells the same story separately, how in the heck am I supposed to know that it's part of an anthology or vice versa. I read the little synopsis and most of the time there is no mention that it was taken from an anthology. So when I like an author and want to read through all of her books I think, "Oh, I'll read Serendipity and then I'll read Wicked Wishes, because I want to read all of Joanna Wylde's books." But then they are the same story!!! Drives me crazy. Rant finished.
1. Serendipity by Joanna Wylde. I read this story as a stand alone. 3.5 stars.
2. A Wish Away by Marly Chance. Cute story. It's Polly's birthday and she makes a wish that her secret crush on her best guy friend turns into romance and she gets some excitement in her life. Then Zak runs in telling her they're promised and he thinks someone may want to kill her because of him. A little wacky and sometimes funny. 4 stars.
3. Craven's Downfall by Stephanie Burke. Not my favorite. 1 star.
With three stories, you can get your all your wished fulfilled. These do have paranormal/futuristic slant to them. I had just finished Price of Pleasure by Joanna Wylde, so was happy to see how two of the characters from that book ended up with each other in Serendipity. Thought they would get together, but not sure how they would come to accept each other.
Also loved A Wish Away. Poor Tiffany's birthday's have not gone well in the past, and she is not sure whether this one is going better or worse. For a supposedly "beta" heroine, she is able to pull her weight. I want to live in her world.
