From then on, it's a roller-coaster ride for the duo, eluding Ustad in a cat and mouse chase. Sameer has to ensure Nethra is safe so that he can close the case. But, there is more to it ? the sizzling chemistry between them draws them down more dangerous paths. Will Nethra survive? Can Sameer keep his heart and his head?
An amazing thriller and romantic novel. Meera Shivashankar achieves in 152 pages what many writers have not achieved even while writing1000 pages. The story is very simple. A local Chennai girl gets caught in a crossfire and becomes the only person ever to have seen the face of the dreaded terrorist Ustad Khan. Young and dashing DCP Sameer Khan whose life's mission is to arrest Ustad Khan takes Nethra's security and safety in his own hands. Braving dangers Sameer shifts Nethra from Chennai to a convent in Ooty to keep her safe as Nethra is combating for her life since she has been on the hit-list of Ustad Khan as soon as she laid eyes on him. Sameer and Nethra fall in love with each other but don't admit to it initially as Sameer feels that he is taking advantage of a girl whom he is supposed to care for. The cold responses from Sameer after sharing an amazing night with him , leave Nethra sad and she bottles up the love in her heart without confessing about her feelings to Sameer.
To put distance between himself and Nethra, Sameer departs from Ooty to Chennai to resume work without even saying a goodbye to Nethra.
Sameer wishes that he could not have left abruptly and explained to Nethra so he decides to call her and talk to her. But finds that its been 2 hrs since Nethra has been to the market and not returned yet. His gut feeling makes him drive back to Ooty.
Meanwhile Nethra is being chased by Ustad Khan and his gang. She tries her best to escape and hide but is soon found out by them.
Our dashing hero just reaches on time to save his girl and finishes the evil villain. Seeing a man shot in cold blood panicks Nethra and she starts having a breathing attack. But Sameer gives CPR to her very efficiently and also confesses his love to Nethra believing that he is losing her but Nethra survives and confesses her similar feelings to him as well.
Sameer has to leave for Chennai and to settle the formalities of the case. A month later he comes back to Ooty for Nethra and proposes her for marriage while they talk about all that happened whilst sitting in the Church Pews.
I really liked the character sketching of Nethra and Sameer. Nethra is a very mature and responsible girl. She looks after her younger sister as they have lost their parents at a very young age. Yet when the time comes she doesn't fake being a totally courageous person and admits that she is afraid. No person is totally free of fear no matter what they face in life and Nethra's willingness to accept it makes her seem more real than reel.
Sameer has certain issues when he falls in love with Nethra putting his duty first but eventually he realises that the constant caring and the life saving for Nethra that he has done is not just cuz she is witness but its cause he feels something for her. He drops his I am a tough guy act and confesses of his love to Nethra and asks her hand in marriage. This act makes Sameer real than reel as it shows that no matter how far you go in your career the reality is that you need to share your life with someone.
The language of the book is pretty simple but the way the story is written is pretty intense. If you are an avid reader like me you will finish this book in 30 mins tops the way I did but trust me you will love the book all the way through.
PS: Sameer and Nethra's hesitation to tell each other about their feelings after reading their expressions teaches us that when you love someone you should tell them about it. Instead of anticipating what their answer might be come clean and hear it from their mouth. Otherwise you might end up losing the love of your life because you couldn't be honest with them. I would like to finish this review by writing my favourite quote for the paragraph above: " NEVER LET THE FEAR OF LOSING KEEP YOU FROM STRIKING"
