Poetry. ECHO REGIME is the fourth book by Black Square Editons, edited by John Yau. John Olson's book of forty-one poems is embellished by rich word choices and an array of peculiar subject matters, ranging from musical instruments to interpersonal relationships. I think truth is an arch/ resting solidly on a column/ of experience. And then I think/ that truth is the sadness of predication/ And then I think/ women like men with money/ to emit light from their abdomen. (Ginger Ale)

I’m afraid John Olson’s poems didn’t do a whole lot for me.

I’m not a big fan of the post-modernist stuff, and all those juxtapositions of images, though very poetic, isn’t very accessible or enjoyable.

Definitely well written and artful, just not my thing is all. No disrespect meant to Mr. Olson.

An excellent offering, here (like his others), from this wonderful poet.
