The most up-to-date and comprehensive guide to the Kabbalah, making this complex mystical tradition easy to understand and use.
Kabbalah is a tradition that is closely related to Judaism, but which has links also with Ancient Egyptian religion and currents all across the Near and Middle East. Outwardly it was studied and taught principally by Rabbis, but in fact on a more secret level its development was also taken forward by Moslem scholars, Renaissance princes, alchemists of all kind and magicians. It found its expression in the tarot deck and in the esoteric teachings of Aleister Crowley and Dion Fortune.
In a way, it's all in here and Kabbalah holds the key to all the workings of the universe. We can use it to make sense of our own minds and motivations and become better happier people by relating more consciously to all that is. As Dutch teacher Mike Bais points out, we can also use this supremely flexible system to understand the universe and how it works and one of his key points in this book is that Kabbalah is ideally placed to bring science and spirituality back together again after centuries of estrangement.
The book is full of diagrams and illustrations that enhance the text. The exercises and practical teachings here form a crystal clear course of study for anyone willing put in the time and change their lives.
Paths on the Tree to Wisdom is a book about Kabbalah - Kabbalah really being Jewish mysticism that has, developed in other faiths since the Renaissance. I am interested in Kabbalah and have some familiarity with concepts that are broached from its Jewish roots. I must say that all is supposed to be related. I was disappointed in this book. Some parts made sense; some parts went off to the point they were unreadable. This book was labeled religion/spirituality. From what I could make out, these book needs to be recategorized as New Age.
Great study book and course for the beginner and advanced student. What a nonsense review about this being a new age book by someone! This IS esoteric knowledge revealed and although it is not Jewish Kabbalah it is modern, contemporary Kabbalah highly based upon the Toledano Kabbalah tradition which transmits Kabbalah from a universal, inclusive and esoteric perspective. Its clarity cannot be more emphasized through the use of the Tree of Life!
Excellent book on contemporary kabbalah. A broad outline of the different streams of kabbalah but with a very clear direction. Much better than most complex books about the matter. Esoteric teachings made accessible for the beginning student.
I’ve been interested in Kabbalah for some time and have read various beginners books. So, I thought I might be ready to read this, but I struggled. I printed out a copy of the Tree of Life to have beside me while reading but I still got lost a few times. Kabbalah as a metaphysical, mystical Jewish tradition allows a student to go deeper into their psyche and find a path to wisdom. But I couldn’t follow the path.
I accept this is down to me and the book is possible just too beyond my understanding. I did get a lot out of it and the meditations were useful. I may revisit this book after I’ve learned a bit more of the basics.
A neat book worth reading This book is a good work as long as you read it knowing that it is not a Jewish Kabbalah book. If you want Jewish Kabbalah, I recommend looking elsewhere.
