They explain the standards, which is necessary. It’s unfortunate they could not make it somewhat interesting to read.

4 stars is being a little bit generous, but I read this for work and it was very helpful in guiding the redevelopment of an evaluation tool. My job is going to be a lot easier since I can point to these standards in explaining why certain decisions were made in our evaluation process. I found the hypothetical case studies very useful in seeing how the standards should/could be applied. It's definitely not an exciting book to read, but these kinds of books are rarely exciting.

It's more of a manual than a "book" which is why I only gave it 3 stars. It's not like I found it fascinating or anything. It was, however, a very important handbook for anyone working in evaluation.
