A Faith for All Seasons

Rate this book
In response to the questions most asked by students in his theology classes at Taylor University, Ted M. Dorman revises his textbook, which introduces and explains the classic doctrines of the historic Christian faith. While systematic in organization, the book remains written for students, aiming to bring them to an understanding of the central doctrines of the Christian church including the doctrines of Scripture, God, creation, humanity, atonement, salvation, and eschatology.

Loved learning about the history of Christian belief, different views, and which ones are fine even if they vary, or which ones are actually heresy.

It also helped that I read this over a semester and had class discussions and lectures revolving around the same topics. Reading it in one go or alone would have been a lot for me and my opinion on the readability might be different, so perhaps reading it with others would be helpful.

Many of the questions that I've been wondering for years have been answered. I feel like I understand a lot more now and I am very thankful and I highly, highly recommend reading it!

This is really a remarkable read. Just about the time you think you understood what it was to follow Jesus, along comes Ted M. Dorman and 'A Faith for all Seaons'.

So many thoughts on why one believes what he/she believes or has been taught.

This book is not just biblical data, It is a highly readable guide or handbook that sits next to my chair so I can grab it and reference this or that. Or simply read over and again. Fun, it's also fun.

I say buy it, or simply get it from your library. After returning it you are going to go out and buy it. I, for one, feel so fortunate to have been turned on to this read!

This is a systematic theology textbook with a little more emphasis on historical development of doctrine. It's well composed but dry. Not a bad textbook though.

It's hard for me to get to wired up about doctrine, that being said I truly appreciated the fair explanations from all sides on various arguments. Historical tid bits and an orderly format were an added bonus. This book tried to be fair in explaining all views, which was an aspect I enjoyed for the class in general. True, the points they believe as true were undoubtedly
emphasized more, but I still give them credit for trying. If you don't know a heck of a lot about doctrines and that sort of stuff floats your boat you'd probably really enjoy reading this, and gain a good bit of knowledge in the bargain. In fact, it's one of the school books I think I'll be keeping, and that's saying a lot.

Clear and concise Overview of Christian doctrine in historical perspective. The book is organized by theological topic and each topic is discussed historically. In this way, it provides a helpful combination of systematic theology and basic historical Christian theology.

I recently came by this book on sale. I had read it before a long time ago and remembered liking it so I thought I would read it again. It's a great overview of systematic theology. I'm glad I read it again.

An excellent introduction to Christian theology and history. Readable and understandable. Not intended to be exhaustive but good for people new to theology.

A solid, but not overwhelming look at the main points of historic Christian belief and systematic theology.
