Pretty good story about a baseball enigma. Durocher died here in Palm Springs, and I had always heard he lived on the Sinatra estate for a time and that they were pals. So, naturally I was intrigued by that. Learned some great things about him and how he would continually be fired one night by Lee McPhail and then hired by the morning.
He was a very sharp dresser and loved being the subject of conversation and rubbing elbows with Hollywood big shots. Ultimately, he was a manager who didn’t change with the times and ended up having players who he just simply didn’t like and he ended up getting run out of the game. Kinda felt for the guy and how he continually got snubbed for the HOF.
