This book deserves four stars if only for the work that went into compiling a chronology of Charlie Parker's public life through newspaper extracts, performance and record reviews, interviews with Bird and those who knew and played with him, letters, posters, and advertisements. The collection of photographs included is simply amazing. I was familiar with some, but there were many that were new to my eyes.
If you've listened to and loved Charlie Parker's recordings, this book is a must.
