Loved the journey through the Indiana Jones saga. It really adds texture to the movies and goes into details about the artistry and history behind it. Some of the movie data does seem superfluous if you have recently watched the movies, but is otherwise a treat.
I haven't read this since...2008? It's a fun book but my initial opinion of it hasn't changed in the slightest. It's not one I feel inclined to own. The book is full of information but your long time avid fan won't find much of anything new inside. Only about 20% of this book had stuff I was interested in. In fact, I found myself skipping a lot of pages because it was dedicated to reliving certain moments in the movie. If I wanted to do that, I'd just rewatch the movies.
The parts that I did find interesting went beyond the movies. The comics, the books, and the really cool art that dissected key locations in the movies. This is probably best for kids.
I love Indiana Jones, and all the things that go along with it, so when I saw this book I jumped out of my seat! I couldn't wait for it to arrive and I could get a dose of adventure. I had no idea what a well put together book I was going to receive. This book is Fantastic with a capital F! It touches on every part of the Indiana Jones history, so much so I almost forgot he is just a character. It was all that believable. I thought I knew everything there was to know about Indy and the movies, comics and such. I soon learned different. I got a chance to know some new stuff in this book, plus I appreciate the movie more now knowing how much detail and hard work has gone into all of the movies especially. Hats off to the author and DK for this one! And if you love Indiana as much as I do, get a copy!
Indiana Jones: The Ultimate Guide covers the world of Indiana Jones. It begins with his early life and ends with some of the special effects and merchandise. As a fan of the movies, especially Raiders of the Lost Ark, I found this book to be mediocre. One reviewer nailed it when the book summarizes some of the action in the movies and that is something we could just watch in the movies. Some of the information was not that really interesting.
Didn't even finish it, but five stars for Richard Chasemore's cutaway maps alone - they can basically only be found in this volume, barring the occasional image on the web. Could be updated, obviously, but does a great job of including material from the films, novels, comics, etc. in providing a pretty comprehensive look at the endlessly compelling world of Henry Jones, Jr.
Skaitymo ar meninės vertės nėra itin daug, bet įdomiai ir vaizdžiai chronologine tvarka apžvelgtos visos istorijos, pradedant tv serialu, baigiant filmais bei komiksais
This was not a book I could sit down and just "read." It took me several months of picking it up and going through a couple of pages. This encyclopedia of Indiana Jones didn't have much that was new, but it was nice to combine the TV series, the movies, the books, and the comics into one narrative. It has plenty of interesting diagrams to get lost in, as well as trivia not only about the stories, but about the production and merchandising.
I had two quibbles with the book. First, with the timeline of his life it would be nice to know where to find the event referenced if it wasn't in a movie or the TV series. Second, I would have liked more about the stories and video games - especially those that are cannon and immutably and officially part of his story.
One of my favorite movie characters of all time. Lots of fun trivia and behind the scenes secrets and page after page of the yummy Harrison Ford was pretty nice too!
