Prayers of the Saints is a delightful and sometimes surprising collection of prayers from many of the best-loved saints the world has known. Drawing from nearly 2,000 years of ancient and contemporary wisdom, Koenig-Bricker brings together words of encouragement and hope written and uttered by such figures as St. Francis of Assisi, St. Augustine, St. Teresa of Avila, St. Patrick, Hildegard of Bingen, and Julian of Norwich. From cries of lament to sighs of joy, Prayers of the Saints offers dozens of uplifting and comforting prayers and meditations that can help us discover all that is sacred in our lives.
This book is simply a book of prayers from famous Christians from our past. I only have it 4 stars because it narrowed the field of prayer to only saints of the Roman Catholic Church. The translations of the prayers and short biographical sketches of each saint are enlightening and worth the book.
It was helpful to have a brief overview of so many saints but I'm not sure its a very important or necessary book. I will certainly revisit some of these prayers but it doesn't feel like this book should have been published. It has maybe 10 pages of original content if consolidated.
