This is a book that was ahead of its time in terms of setting out the guidelines for metadata management in data warehousing environments. Back then, most of the books or articles described metadata in too abstract terms, not only meaningless to a business audience but also lacking in substance for technical people. This book describes what DW metadata is and how to implement a knowledge system around it (years later, the concept was popularised with “data dictionaries” or “business glossaries”.
