She escaped the cage of one serial killer, only to fall right into the arms of another… She was everything they had been waiting for. Brent and Ethan had been in a committed relationship since high school. They were both dominant men and enjoyed testing each other’s limits, But they each knew they longed to feel the softness of a woman. But not any woman. The perfect woman for them. Casey had been running for so long, and so far, she didn’t even know where she was anymore. Literally, she had no idea where her bus dropped her off. All she knew was that she was tired, deep down in her bones. She knew the small town seemed nice, and the owners of the diner were good people. She also knew that the men she had caught a glimpse of made her heart beat faster—and if the rings they wore were any indication, they were both taken. Brent and Ethan needed to convince this frightened young woman to stay in town long enough to give them a chance. They knew she was running from something, and to them, it didn’t matter what that was. They were ready to protect her from anything. But how would Casey feel when she found out one of her men had even more blood on his hands than the killer she was running from?
Even though I don't read them that often, I enjoy MMF. My favorite ever is At Love's Command and I come back to it every year ♡
What I love about it is the fact that the MM couple is together but feeling like something is missing. In comes in the F and the perfect trouple finally finds harmony.
This book should've fallen under that category since the heroes have been together 12 years (I think? at least a very long time), so the book is able to focus on the heroine building her relationship with each hero apart and together.

I am sorry this is going to be a mostly negative review😬 I really liked the premise of this book it started out really strong and hooked me right away until I got to the first encounter between the fmc and one of the mmcs and it was Insta love which if done right I am okay with but unfortunately this was so far over the top. He sees her once and he wants to invite her in to his relationship with his partner? I would have been ok if they started out as friends they knew she was in trouble and wanted to help her and things grew from there. But one of the MMCs had one shy conversation with her and he's describing her like he knows everything about her. But after all of that I still pushed on wanting to give it a chance hoping the spice would help this a little 👎 the fmc is a V and the two MMCs have only been with each other. I read a lot of MM and I know prep is important for back door activities there was none which put me off right away #1 also when they first go down to V town they magically know how to give her and O doubtful. Which brings me to where I stopped their first time mind you she is a V and he has what I'm guessing is a Jacobs ladder and he's pounding in and she Os......yah no I am sorry I really tried and I hate giving a total negative review but this whole story just felt so rushed.
In terms of did I finish the story and did I like the characters, then yes, it was good. However, the extreme Instalove and way that the characters easily accepted the relationship and what Brent did, while running from a serial killer was just so unbelievable. Brent and Ethan have been together since high school and have been open to having a woman join them. Casey has escaped a serial killer who is still on the loose so she flees from California to Texas and immediately agrees to stay with Ethan and Brent in their home. Sounds legit right? Yeah, no. Then after two nights of listening to them pleasure each other, this virgin, decides she wants to join in. Then they are all now in a committed relationship and it’s been what… a week? They are confessing love and it’s all so unrealistic it’s cringey. Then for no reason a female cop who thinks Ethan is only gay gets jealous of Casey and decides to do background check on her, which by the way, she has nothing to go on since Casey gave a fake name and the cop has no DNA, pictures, or fingerprints somehow miraculously finds out who Casey really is and this alerts the serial killer as to where she is. Also, she states that she couldn’t go into WITSEC because it was full…. Not sure that’s how that works. Either way killer shows up conveniently right after Ethan put a tracker on her, so Brent and Ethan are able to find her quickly. There’s this whole portion where Casey “has” to go back to California to settle her life there, even though she had already left, which is pointless because the only thing she does is go visit the bookstore she worked at for like thirty minutes, but yet she was there for a month packing boxes which she states wasn’t actually a lot. Basically there was no point for her to be in California. The epilogues leave us with different year viewpoints where she ends up having five children, but then the last epilogues is weird as she talks about her son who has never had a girlfriend or a boyfriend, looks at his parents weird, and is violent so he’s going to the military….are they trying to say he’s like Brent? Or worse?
A website link is provided for these but for those who want them straight away, the trigger warnings from the authors are as follows:
Violence in page, kidnap, torture, imprisonment, murder Off page mentions- suic!de, r@pe, inc3st, child abuse.
This whole book is a wild ride, honestly I just don't know how to describe it. There's a lot to unpack in terms of the first serial killer/abduction and is fast-paced. The story follows Casey and the months after, where she meets Brent and Ethan in Texas and it takes us on a whole different wild ride exploring their relationship. It's an interesting read, full of spice and lots of drama. The only thing that irked me a little was just *how* fast things got with certain aspects, which is why I'm giving it a 4 rather than 5. I flew through the book though, and the authors writing is well done, so it's not a reflection on that. I just wish it had slowed down a little in some places or the time span had been increased when she is with them. I think the FMC mentions love after a week? I think it could have done with a little more 'getting to know each other'.
Overall, it's a good read though. I'd rec it for someone who wants some fast-paced spice.
MM M/F murder, why chose, kidnapping, child abuse, ince$t, rape, DV
The spice was tingly. I really wanted to be in the middle of that Brent & Ethan sandwich 🤣 I loved the book. 300pages. super unique. The story starts out with our FMC Casey locked in a cage by a serial killer. She escapes. The killer isn't caught so she goes on the run where we meet the 2 MMC ETHAN is a detective & BRENT is a serial killer but his only kills are monsters that get away with abuse (his story is so sad) Brent & Ethan are in a committed relationship but have been looking to have a women in their life. The ending was perfect. I think with the ending, their son might get a book 🤞
I can't explain how I feel about this book. One moment I feel terror for what she has been through. The other moments I'm screaming inside that she needs to take the jump. My chest hurt during a part of this book. One I think most people would enjoy and feel the same way about. What I do love about this book is that the main female character is willing to overlook something so serious because she doesn't see it the same as him. My heart grew just for her at that moment. To be so strong after dealing with so much in a short time. I love it. I would recommend this book to all my dark romance readers. They would enjoy it just as much as I do.
The book will have you sitting on the edge of your seat, biting your nails and gasping in shock. I’m not sure the last time I flew through a book this fast. I had the privilege of getting to read this book super early and may have had to wait a few days for the ending but I’m so happy with this book ♥️ I can’t wait to have a physical copy to cherish ♥️♥️♥️
This is the story of a Casey and her men Ethan and Brent, who were partners well before they graduated in high school and the struggles that they face while Casey is in hiding from the near death escape she made from her captor, the known Castle Killer of California.
This is more like a lite dark romance in my opinion as the main dark forces are not within thr relationship between these three, well~ besides the sudden obsessive love that take over both Ethan and Brent as soon as they meet Casey, but the dark and morally gray circumstances thst surround their relationship. Both men are absolutely swooned with Casey and would do anything for her. Despite my feelings on this, there are some triggers to be warned about ⚠️ CSA, child abuse, child suicide, violence and a gore scene are.some of the things that makes this book not for everyone so be sure to check your triggers.
Lastly before I leave my review, know there are spoilers ahead.
Casey ends up in the small town of Selene Texas after bus hopping in the hopes that the Castle Killer is unable to track her wearabouts. With some coaxing from the owner of the Diner she stopped in, Casey decides to settle herself out in the town for a while. Meeting Brent and Ethan and feeling a pull towards both men, certainly was not something she was expecting.
This was an excellent read, but due to the length of it, I felt that there were some plot holes made. If you aren't one for insta-love this isn't your type of book because both men are infatuated with Casey in less than 24 hours. Their morally gray spectrum makes it easy for me to understand but Casey falls hard and fast too, accepting their help and moving in with them within days, despite the fact that she doesn't know who the killer she is running from, looks like. This confuses me probably more because it hasn't been long since she freed herself.
Their relationship builds smoothly and we get more background story on how these two wonderful men met and their history, Brent's being far darker than some may be able to handle. The way they treat Casey is amazing, the connection strong and despite it being fast pace it really felt like they just clicked in a way.
The next plot hole that stumped me was when the story felt almost done and there was no sign of the killer. It felt almost like he just vanished from the story all together. At least until Mrianda, a fellow police officer who has Beef with Ethan for refusing to indulge in her desire for him to be hers as teenagers, suddenly takes liberty to yoink a background check out of no where and slap it down on his desk. The file as all of Casey's information, but I am confused for many reasons and wish it was delivered differently, or perhaps had some type of build up that made more sense to me. How did she get Casey's information in order to pull the check in the first place? Was it one of those weird things that because technology has advance the way it does, this woman just stalked Casey and used face recognition in some database to get the info she wanted? Did she even read the damned info when she pulled it up? Because she seemed to know that the girl was on the run for a damned cmgood reason, yet it didn't occur to her Empty head that it legit put the girl at risk. And all the danger ahe brought tot the town was for what reason that she deemed gloating that she was able to look the girl up, as a good idea? Best part is that there is no mention of her getting apprehended for doing an unauthorized check on a civilian that has done nothing. Then she gets sent to help the men towards the end to save Casey when she legit put the girl in danger herself.
After Casey is rescued and recovers she decides to return to her home state to clothes that part of her life. It takes a month, with minimal ability to move as she is still healing from bullet wounds, to say goodbye to family and friends, as well as donate majority of her things to charity.
The Epilgues leading after her return to her men is time jumps of the progress of her having children and watching them grow, knowing one of her son's displays a uniquely strong personality trait that makes me feel like he may be similar to his father Brent. Although I don't know if that is truly the case, I am genuinely curious on where his path will take him and would have loved to have insight on his story.
Overall, despite the few gaps I was confused on, I really loved this story. It was very well written, pulled me in fast and I struggled to find moments to put it down. The connection and characters were lovely and I got invested in seeing it through to the end. I am looking forward to reading more works by this author and recommend it if you like a fast paced, insta-love style read. It is a favorite I can see myself reading again in the future.
This book was amazing! Easily one of my top for this year. While it was a little dark and had drama, it didn't bleed over too much into their building relationship, which I loved. I also enjoyed the build-up to include Casey into Ethan and Brent's relationship because the main reason she fought herself over it was she didn't want to come between the two men that had been in together for years. Even though she felt a spark with each man, as soon as she realized they were a couple, she wasn't about to be the reason anyone cheated. THEY had to be the ones to pursue her, together of course, which is how it should have been since they were already in an established relationship.
There was also the added danger of possibly being found by the one she had escaped from hovering over their heads as they start to explore all these new feelings. Not to mention any secrets any of them may have been keeping.
Ethan's (and by extention, Brent's) family was absolutely amazing. They were so understanding of everyone's different needs and didn't hesitate to help out where needed.
During one the darker scenes with Brent and Casey, R. Sullins managed to pull a couple laughs from me. It helped break up a little of the tension, which was how Casey was feeling at the time, so it worked well while not making completely light of a serious situation.
I can't put into words just how much I loved this book. My only complaint is, I have to wait until when for her next book?! But that's just me being selfish and needy. ;) At this point, it doesn't even matter what the next story is about. I've loved everything I've read so far and can't wait to see what the future brings.
When I read description of this book I was so excited to read it!!! It was so promising! Beginning of the book was really good to, I really thought this gonna be amazing book. My thoughts change very fast when FMc met with Mmc… Instant love is only good when it’s well written, and that was not the case here!! A guy sees her and without even talking with her decides she’s perfect for him and his long term partner. Another guy sees her and is basically obsessed with her instantly to the point where he would hold bus at gunpoint to keep her from leaving, and that’s only after talking 3 words with her!!! They act like they know her for years, describing her like they know every detail about her. It was absolute nonsense!! In author notes author says this was the quickest books she wrote and i have to say it really feels like it, if there was more time given for this book, it could’ve been great book. Different approach was definitely needed of how they got together, maybe guys helped her as friends first and then feeling started, honestly anything would’ve been better than this.. because there was 0 logic here. I’am just happy I read this on KU, if I would’ve had to pay money for this book and then been presented with this, I would’ve been really upset…
Definitely this book is not for people of a faint heart, but for me it was a great read. While paranormal romance is my favorite genre, Light from the Dark dragged me in from the beginning and didn't let me go. The plot is well-paced and intriguing with unexpected occurrences and events. Brent and Ethan are definitely on my list of favorite book boyfriends. I liked their dominance and protectiveness. Both fighting against evil, although in completely different ways. I think the author described their relationship very well. I could feel their love as if I was part of the story too. The arrival of Casey in their lives was like a gift from fate. A young, shy and scared woman awakened their protective instincts. She was a survivor, but her traumatic past made it hard for her to trust anyone. She could be their chance for happiness and starting a family, if they could convince her to join their relationship. But the danger is still haunting Casey and Brent & Ethan's dark secret could destroy them all. Prepare for a heart-pounding mix of passion, love and danger.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
OK! I'll be honest, there was something in the book that gave me a flashback and I had to put it down for a bit, cause ya know PTSD is a not so nice thing. BUT I tried again....and I managed to finish (yay, therapy does work!).
ANYWAY!
The book starts very nicely and gets you hooked, the love at first sight trope is strong here and I wished it worked like that IRL. The spiciness factor, at first made me think that all of them were not experienced at all, OR they sure think that gals can lubricate more than the obvious area....or prepping was not mentioned and I was just internally in discomfort cause I noticed it wasn't there.
It is a fast paced read with lots of info that I wished was actually a little slowed down. First we have the serial killer/abduction, which is fast but still got me lol. Then followed the FMC months after and she meets 2 MMCs and it takes us on a whole different wild ride exploring their relationship. The MMCs kind of reminded me of shifter mates, for some reason.
It's an interesting read, fast paced, spice, lots of drama, and wishing you had more of it. I would give this a 3.75 stars if I could.
I loved this book! It was exciting and suspenseful right from the start. Great world building. I was tense right there along with Casey, locked in a cage in the basement of a serial killer who murders the other girl he'd taken. But he made a mistake with one of the locks on her cage and she managed to escape. Now she's alone and on the run because he's still out there and she has no idea what he looks like. Construction worker Brent and detective Ethan are partners and both dominant but love each other. They always discussed having a woman for their third one day. As soon as Brent saw Casey's haunted eyes, he knew she needed their help and was the one for them. The chemistry in this book was scorching. It was pretty much instalove involving Casey, which surprised me. In a story like this, I'd thought there would be more of a build-up- especially considering Casey's condition/situation. But I did really enjoyed this story and was completely hooked. This is the first book I've read by this author and I will definitely be reading more! 5 stars
3.75 stars Picked this book up from just the blurb of leaving. one monster for another and 2 men waiting to be completed, and I was in.lol Casey was taken by a serial killer and escapes and then has to vanish due to no one finding him. She sops in a small Texas town and has a bite to eat at a diner. Little foes she know Brent and Ethan who have been a couple pretty much their whole life had been waiting on a woman to protect and complete thrm. The moment Brent saw her, he knew she was running from demons, and they wanted her. It's a dark insta love romance. I loved the relationship ahtbbrent and Ethan have had and the light and dark of each man. Casey is so scared, and her head is all over the place . I feel like she should have been a little traumatized to move in with 2 strangers, but hey, that's fiction for you. Great book and had me on the edge on my seat. If you love do hot mm scenes and mfm scenes, you will get them as well. Wished the end was a little different but dont want to spoil it for anyon, but overall, it was a very good book
Wow this was a brilliant book. It captured me from the first line and kept me enthralled throughout. The relationship between Ethan & Brent was stunningly beautiful, so when then instantly fell in love with Casey that love just grew and spread. The trauma Casey went through was well written without the need for over describing every detail of her capture by the serial killer, it wasn’t needed to feel every bit of anguish and fear of a repeat if he ever found her again. I so fell in love with all the characters, and the ending was just perfect! I loved the multiple epilogues seeing how their family had grown over the years, but their passion & intense love still jumped off the page. Wonderful!!!
Insta Love = Fast, OW Drama = No, Alpha Men = Absolutely, Heat = 10/10 +++++, Angst = Low, MM = Yes, so yummy!! POV = MPV, Theme = Contemporary , RH/ Poly = Poly, Triggers = Many …. Kidnapping, drugging, abuse, killing, torture, domestic violence, and probably more!! Standalone
this probably gets a 3.5ish? it’s fine. i have no problems with it. i like the plot, i like the transition from someone who went through such a harrowing experience to someone who’s being spoiled and loved. i love brent and ethan.
i just wish this were a little more detailed. i want to see them spending more time together, i wish this were just a little bit more drawn out. i wish there were more time between casey coming to town and moving in with brent and ethan, i wish there were more buildup before they all started sleeping together, i just wanted more structural support for the relationship.
and it’s not necessarily that i wanted a slow burn, it’s just that the believability of the relationship completely hinges on how detailed and strong the descriptions of the characters actually spending time together and interacting are, and while there were no problems with that, i still think it would’ve taken more instances of them spending time together before she felt safe and comfy enough to even consider moving forward with a relationship.
This was a great little story of love between 3 people. It starts out with our fmc in a terrible/unfathomable place, and we see her grow into a secure, strong young woman. I loved Ethan and Brent's relationship, and after being together for over 10 years, they still love and crave each other! When they met Casey they knew immediately that she needed help and wanted to offer her the world. While I love how sweet these men are, it was a bit too insta love. They meet her and move her into their house within a day and into their bed by day 4!!! Loved the story, but the pet names were a little cringe for me. Maybe they are common Texan nicknames, but I hated them. "Sugar" wasn't as bad as "Dollface," though. I enjoyed the extra epilogues, too!! I hate when the story ends and we don't get to see how life turns out years later. Overall, it's a great story. I only give 5 stars to books I plan to reread, and while I really liked it, it's a one and done for me.
Well, hello MMF book lovers! This is 100% a book you'll want to read! I absolutely love that we get to see the dynamic between Ethan and Brent before Casey is added. I think it's an important piece to how strong their relationship is. I also love that it mentions multiple times through the book that Ethan and Brent discussed wanting to be with a woman together. The character build is amazing, and though it's fast, I love the way Casey is pulled into a poly relationship with Ethan and Brent so easily. Like a puzzle piece! The mystery part of the serial killer slowly closing in on her drives me slightly crazy because when he gets her is unexpected. Unfortunately perfect, but unexpected. Also, the absolute fear that one of em will die even knowing it has a HEA. Very spicy, written very well, would recommend to any romance reader!
This is my second book from R. Sullins, and I was just as impressed with this one as I was with the first one that I had pleasure of reading. Ethan and Brent are so hot, and the love that they shared for one another was something that you could feel while reading this story. Add Casey into the mix and it became pure perfection. Casey is on the run after she escaped a serial killer. She hops on a bus out of California per her parents request and doesn't look back. She ends up in a small town in Texas where she meets the guys. They have loved each other since high school, but always wondered what it would be like to add the perfect woman to their relationship. I loved how much they all loved each other, how the guys would do anything and everything to protect her, and how damn hot the spicy scenes were. Now, excuse me while I go find another book by R. Sullins to devour.
This book felt like a mix of thriller with serial killer vibes, a hot throuple and some Dexter vibes to finish it off. I loved the relationship between Ethan and Brent and how even after they brought Casey in to join them, they maintained their love and their relationship as well. I thought the dynamic that they created together was really good. There were a lot of things along the way that kept me on the edge of my seat to find out what was going to happen and the suspense kept me wanting more.
I also really loved the multiple epilogues that gave us several future looks at what happens for these three at various intervals. They overcame a lot and I loved that Casey got to live a beautiful life with Ethan and Brent.
TROPES: 🖤Serial Killer 🖤MMF 🖤Woman On the Run 🖤Voyeurism 🖤Virgin FMC
Brent and Ethan are life partners. Ethan is a detective while Brent owns Mason Construction. Having a long standing commitment relationship they have talked about adding the right female to the relationship maybe Casey could be the one.
Casey escapes from a δεrial κιllεr and with him being on the loose she leaves her home to get away as she is his only survivor. Zig zag around by bus till she lands in a random place she don’t even know that name of she decides to give it a go when she meets Brent and Ethan.
I have read a lot of MMF and this by far felt like all three of them clicked. None of it felt forced or lopsided. I would definitely 💯 recommend! A great book.
It was good, I just felt like I was missing something. It got a little boring at the end, and I feel like the author kept adding details near the end to wrap it up. Like I could tell they didn’t really plan it out that much ahead of time. There wasn’t much foreshadowing. They just told every revelation as it happened.
Also, I felt like the threesome dynamite felt more MFM than MMF. Not because the men didn’t get freaky, but because they turned a lot of their attention to Casey more often than each other. At first I got it because they were trying to woo her, but after a while I was like, but don’t forget about your man! Why are y’all getting jealous over one of you getting to go down on her first? Jealousy is not supposed to be a factor!
I gotta say that Ethan is a pretty poor excuse for a police detective. He rushed into the shack the moment he heard Casey scream, instead of planning out his approach carefully. He's supposed to have training and he knows the importance of staying level-headed in a crisis!
And then he gets in and is distracted looking at her -- both he and Brent are -- never giving one thought to first eliminating the freaking threat. No, instead Ethan was trying to mentally recall biology lessons to figure out whether the knife protruding from Casey might have struck her heart. Like, seriously!
As a result, the villain got the upper hand and all three of them nearly died. I rolled my eyes so much I just couldn't feel for the characters.
Was very blessed to receive an arc copy! This book is AMAZING!! From beginning till the end you are captivated. We are presented with Casey who managed to escape captivity and forced into hiding. She finally took a chance in a small town in Texas where she meets Brent and Ethan. All I have to say is that Grace was the perfect matchmaker 😂. Loved the dynamic that Ethan and Brent have (alpha-possessive men) have with Casey and how “slowly” (Brent 😏) they eased her into their relationship. The plot is strong and loved Casey’s development from doubting herself to truly trusting that her men will keep her safe. 💘✨ The EPILOGUE 🥰🥰🥰🥹🫶🏻🥹 my gosh so ADORABLE AND WHOLESOME!! Kinda hoping to see if the author is gonna write Gage’s story. Ps. Was kind hoping Miranda got fired 😒
I was sucked in from page 1! I loved Casey, Ethan and Brent! They had an Instalove, almost like fated mates. Ethan and Brent were immediately drawn to and protective of Casey. And they had every reason to because she was giving off all the vibes of someone on the run. Casey's development was beautiful! To endure what she did and still have the fire to live and be happy was admirable. She went through all the stages or grief and fear, but when given something to fight for she was not giving up! I loved her!! Great story, great spice and great characters!! It's dark and twisty and full of suspense!
That I was really going to like this book! And I did. I finished reading it in one sitting. The first chapter hooked my interest right away and from there I just kept reading.
I really loved seeing Ethan and Brent’s relationship portrayed as strong and solid. I loved that they pulled Casey into it and knew she was for them. I absolutely was cheering about the town and members of the community being supportive of just Brent and Ethan’s relationship and then continuing to support their relationship with Casey. And the spicy scenes…
I absolutely loved this story about Brent, Ethan & Casey. Brent and Ethan had been together since high school. One worked construction whilst the other was a police officer. Casey was the only victim to survive a serial killer. He hadn't yet been found. Her parents gave her money to travel as far away until she felt safe. Finding herself in an unfamiliar town, she was soon welcomed by the owners of the local diner. Here is where she had her first glimpse of Brent and Ethan. She saw the rings on their fingers and presumed they only liked men. She was wrong. A fab, exciting story which I couldn't put down. Hot read.
Holy sh*t what a ride. FMC went through hell, and I mean hell, After surviving so much, she lands in a place that heals her in more ways than one. Two very strong and protective MMC who stop at nothing to show her what she means to them. One physco, one angry little woman who is out of spite ends all the happiness and fight to the very end is at hand. This story will have you on the edge of your seat, and you won't regret one bit of it. You need this story in your life.
