I'm only adding this to my read list (I also have the 2d edition!) because my daughter-in-law is trying to read more pages in a year than me. I didn't even know we were competing until the end of 2024 (I won).
Great little birding book--relies on photographs rather than illustrations, which some may not like. Part of the delight of bird books for me are the beautiful illustrations.
But it's a great reference & has helped me ID a few small birds at the feeders. Between this book and Birds of Georgia, I feel pretty well taken care of. Very useful.
I just love this field guide! I have so many in my wooded backyard and love that there’s a checklist included I use of the ones I’ve seen! It’s small yet informative and beautiful pictures.
This is my go to for my beautiful birds that come and see me daily. I have many that come and take seed from my hand. Cat birds, Brown Thrashers and male Cardinals all come to me.
i've gone through several bird guides, and this is by far my favorite. the kiddos like bird watching too (or at least tolerate it for now), so i read it to them when we spot birds in the yard.
