From the Scriptures, Lester Sumrall shows that we can wage war on the devil and that we can win through the power given to us by Jesus Christ! In this book, you will learn how Sumrall’s encouragement for the church today is that the children of God have already won. Christ is on our side, and we have might weapons to use in the battle. With this knowledge, you will find that you are more than a conqueror.
This was a powerful book. It is very eye-opening and shamelessly truthful. Christians tend to, not ignore, but kind of skim through these topics, so I am very thankful for this book, which delves into them in detail and warns how dangerous it is to not know about these things. I think every Christian should read this book, and I will definitely be recommending this, because I don’t think we always realize how much these things are actually going on today. Demons are real, and we as Christians should know how to deal with them.
I read a whole book in one day. Wow! A very enjoyable read about the authors years of experiences with Demons. I'm happy to say that everything he said seems to agree with the Biblical information about demons. I was expecting him to be one of those religious fruitcakes you see on Faux Christian television. But his book comes across as very humble and down to Earth. He doesn't go hunting demons with Holy water and silver bullets - he just takes Jesus advice.
Very short but and easy read. He gives his life experience prespective. I believe he studied under Smith Wigglesworth and both men are know as men of faith!
If you are christian and have personal battles, struggles, etc you can't shake...definitely read. I believe this book points us in the right direction for breakthroughs. There is not much teaching in the Bible on this but 2 men who are well known ministers and finished their race...glean from their experience.
It is why biographies are so great...you can learn a lifetime of lessons in several hundred pages!
This book was very informational! My bible group decided to read this book and they did not lie when they said the first chapter would give you goosebumps. I’m not going to lie I almost didn’t continue the book because the first chapter frightened me but I’m so glad I did because after that chapter it opened my eyes to many things I didn’t know and taught me a lot. I believe this is a good book for any God believer to read, thank you for a good book.
Very informative and eye opening book. As Christians it is important to realize that our battles are spiritual and they come from the enemy. This helps us to better stand in battle as we face the adversary. I am sure I will be reading this book again.
As a Christian, the book is an excellent read for understanding deliverance beyond just regular talk but complete teaching grounded by the word of God.
I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless: A) They are strong in their beliefs of a Christian -- and -- B) They don't take it to the extreme to the heart.
Good LORD I can't believe this book. About half of it was worth reading and was VERY educational, but by the time you reached the 100th page, I'm finding it very difficult to stay focused. The first hundred pages I'm over here highlighting just about everything and as soon as I read the second half, it's about every ten or twenty pages that I find something to mark on. This book is SO pro-Christian and anti-satanic, which is good but not to this extreme.
I agree that churches should preach more about what demons are and what resides in Hell instead of giving us just enough to "frighten" us because it leaves the smart people to wonder what it is they're telling us to stay away from, but claiming a lot of the music we listen to as sent by the Devil? Claiming that somebody who fulfills an act of adultery (for example) is being possessed by a demon? That allowing ourselves to talk freely of "sin" is opening ourselves up to allow demons to "possess" us? That is BEYOND extreme.
This book is setting morals and judgment so flippin' high it's basically labeling our society a fallen nation to the Devil. Now yes, I agree that more than 90% of this country is a walking deceit and will be sent straight to Hell (me included since I judge people) and that we should all clean our acts up, but I don't follow the ordeals of this book, in which is seems like it's trying to put us back in that "prim" and "proper" uptight "Victorian" mindset; you know, the type you see Ellen in The Diary of Ellen Rimbauer or the other "Victorian aged films".
And the music of today is an opening for the Devil? They're referring to Rock & Roll, Rap, and Metal, right? Um, have they never heard of Demon Hunter, As I Lay Dying, Underoath, and Norma Jean? Those are Christian heavy metal/death metal bands (though I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't, because this book was re-printed in 1996).
So okay, yes, this book is good for an eye opener and it definitely points things out from more than just the Old Testament and the New Testament that I'm sure we've never looked at before, but it's so extreme that it also make you feel like a minion from Hell just for being in the same room and listening to a prostitute talk about her lingerie shopping. Then it goes to say that these "preachers" can and must purge that "demon" from your soul and you should do the same for yourself, tell the demon that you are not blah blah blah... yeah, you get me.
Well, I suppose it was worth the read because it added to my research of Demonology, but COME on... it was a big extreme, even for me (and I like extremities).
I read my first Lester Sumrall book last year and since seen one documentary on him and his work as a missionary, spiritual warrior, biblical scholar and exorcist. His reputation as a humble servant of God and a prayer warrior are at trhe heart of this book. he begins with an account of a harrowing case of demonic possession and exorcism of a young Filipino woman. The latter part of the book is dedicated to a detailed look into the nature of Satan, his minions, the age-old war with God and his angels, his inetraction and interference into the affairs of man. I found this book informational, insightful and a good confirmation of what I already knew and revealing of areas that were new to me. This is an excellent introduction to spiritual warfare.
A lot of this book was the meat of the first class on Demons & Demonology that I took in 1978 when Dr. Lester Sumrall was teaching in Southern California. I think that every Christian ought to read and study this book. We'd have a much more powerful Church out there on this planet if that were so...
awesome book! Great stories, and lots of edification and encouragement. In most areas it is not very specific but a good book on the general idea of deliverance ministry and the biblical president of it
