This was recommended to me during a lecture I heard many years ago. Probably the most practical, helpful & insightful book I've read on this subject. The information covered herein would be a great blessing to believers both of any maturity level, any age!
One of the members of our book club suggested this book after hearing John Piper refer to it in a sermon. The chapters are relatively short, so we read 4-5 each week and then discussed them. The author was a former missionary to India and clearly had a passion for both experiencing the guidance of God in his own life and also helping other Christians experience it in theirs.
Each chapter is full of rich biblical insight, practical suggestions, and real-life illustrations. It is an inspiring read that encouraged me to pursue a closer walk with God and live in expectancy of the regular guidance of the Holy Spirit in my life. Its 42 chapters could make for a great weekly devotional with lots of time for reflection and application. I’d like to go through it again with more time to dwell on each chapter and study the accompanying verses and passages referenced throughout.
The late Wesley Duewel is one of my favorite Christian writers. I hadn't heard of him until just a few years ago. I wish I had his books decades ago as they would have helped me tremendously at a challenging time. I first learned of this particular book while reading an old sermon by John Piper in which he recommended this book and was, at the time of his sermon, offering copies to the people in his church. A Wesley Duewel book on God's guidance, and highly recommended by John Piper? I knew I needed to seek out the book. This is a book many Christians need to read. It is invaluable. Now that I've read it, I plan to read it again in the future, and again.
