I'm a big fan of the Top Secret Recipes web site so I grabbed this little book up when it became available on the Goodreads swap. I was not disappointed. So far I've made four dishes, all of them excellent. We tried three clones of P. F. Chang offerings. The sauteed snap beans were delicious but way simple, not very different than the way I usually make them. My wife loved the Orange Peel Chicken (her favorite thing from the restaurant. I say it was almost as good)) and I thought the Dan-Dan Noodles recipe was even better than Chang's. This weekend I made the Chili's spare ribs (never tried them at Chili's) and they have moved into my slot for my go-to recipe for great barbecued ribs. If the recipes continue with this quality I may need to add a star!

MY BOSS WORKED FOR ONE THE OF THE FEATURED RESTAURANTS YEARS AGO AND LOOKED AT A COUPLE OF THE SOUP RECIPES IN THE COOKBOOK DECLARING THAT THEY WERE NOT EXACTLY ACCURATE. I IMAGINE I AM SKEPTICAL AS WELL ON THE EXACTNESS AND HOW TOP SECRET THESE REALLY ARE. HAVING SAID THAT IF WE CAN COME CLOSE TO REPLICATING THE CHEESECAKE FACTORY CHEESECAKE THAT WILL BE A WIN FOR MY WIFE. PLUS I DID SEE SOME POSSIBLE RECIPES AND HELPFUL TIDBITS THROUGHOUT THAT I WILL TRY AT SOME POINT. PLENTY OF VARIETY AND CERTIANLY A NICE LOOKING BOOK WITH ADEQUATE INSTRUCTIONS FOR EACH RECIPE.

Would you like recipes for Seafood Paella from Bahama Breeze? Or Rigatoni Campagnolo from Carrabba’s Italian Grill? Perhaps you’d prefer to make Bang-Bang Chicken and Shrimp from The Cheesecake Factory? Cheddar Mashed Potatoes from Dave and Buster’s? Maybe you’d prefer Route 66 Truck Stop Chili from Famous Dave’s?

What will you make?

=========

Copycat recipes allow readers to enjoy the meals they’ve loved in restaurants without the high cost of a restaurant meal for your family.

Here, with a promise from the author that no recipe will cost more than ten dollars to recreate in your own kitchen, eating extremely well on a budget becomes far easier than readers might imagine.

Each recipe includes a brief comment, an ingredient list, and easy-to-follow steps. Several also include suggestions for substitutions and/or additions to the recipe.

Also included: measurements, trademarks, and a website list for every restaurant with a recipe included in the book.

Recommended.

A nice collection of popular recipes. While the recipes have a lot of ingredients, most of them are commonly found in the kitchen or are easy to locate.

Recipes include every component of the dish, including recipes for pie crust, pizza crust, dressings, etc.; so you can cook the dish from scratch or just substitute with ready made items for a quicker meal. Even with substitutions, many of the recipes require some time to cook.

Includes copycat recipes based on dishes from Applebees ®, California Pizza Kitchen ®, Olive Gardens ®, Chili's ®, Outback Steakhouse ® to name a few (but not even half!). Recommended for people that want to impress friends with popular/tasty recipes, not recommended for day to day use.

You can find this currently at Kohls for $5.00. It is an abridged version. It has the Cheddar Bay biscuits from Red Lobster, and Olive Gardens Pasta Fagioli, also Mimi's Carrot Raisin bread. My husband loves that Carrot bread. It will be fun to give the recipes in this book a try.

Author spends lost of time and effort making dishes that correspond to Olive Garden, Red Lobster, etc. Makes me appreciate the effort the restaurants take to make our food!

Excellent selection of recipes! I admit probably my favorites are from the Olive garden section, but they really do taste like what you get at the restaurant!
