Syndelle Coronado. For Brann O'Ciardha, she is a prize beyond measure, a vampire myth made reality. He knows there will be those who will want to kill her when they learn of the old magic carried within her. But the moment Brann tastes Syndelle's blood and feels her hidden power as his companion Rafael mates with her, he resolves to claim her, to possess her. He's waited centuries to find a female such as Syndelle, and he won't let her escape him. She will be his for all time, bound to him and Rafael by her own nature and the laws that govern both vampire and Angelini alike.
While Rafael is the human mate Syndelle has always dreamed of, Brann is the vampire bogeyman of her nightmares. There's no denying the Angelini magic that has chosen them as her mates, and once claimed, they will crave her as desperately as she will crave them. But Syndelle intends to have more from Rafe and Brann than just their lust, she wants their love, and she intends to be viewed as their equal.
Jory has been writing since childhood and has never outgrown being a daydreamer. When she's not hunched over her computer, lost in the muse and conjuring up new heroes and heroines, she can usually be found reading, riding her horses, or hiking with her dogs.
This shit was bananas. I’m not gonna lie, I bought this at a random half priced books in Minnesota as a laugh with my best friend. I went into this fully expecting insanity and also a lot of laughs and fun. I was met with all three. (Kind of like the main characters.) But there was actually a lot more confusing plot than I really thought a vampire erotica would have. I was absolutely not expecting this amount of progressivism for when it was written. There was a TON of positivity about homosexuality that was really unheard of for that time period. In a time of incredible upheaval towards gay people this was kind of a breath of fresh air. It was by no means perfect, it WAS written in 2005, but it definitely did things most forms of media weren’t. The bisexuality angle was not something i expected but I was incredibly grateful for it. You just don’t see enough bisexual representation, and I think this did a really good job of it. Was I expecting everyone to have two male mates? No way! But having it be not only typical, but encouraged was really exciting. Especially having Brann claim Rafael before he even knew Syndelle. I really liked the men having an already established relationship and then adding Syndelle. It was by no means a perfect story. It was absolutely confusing at times and the amount of erections that these men just popped randomly was a bit over dramatic, but it was fun. This is kind of everything you want in your weird erotica. Book Two of Kali Tries Her Hardest To Read All Of Her Vampire Books Before The End Of October challenge!
Rafe doesn't behave like a normal companion and Syndelle isn't a hunter like most Angelini but they are both mates to Brann. Lots of sex even when the timing seems inappropriate. I liked getting more of a glimpse into the Angelini and there were hints of more to come.

Let's be clear about one thing - I am not a fan of menage or m/m eroticas, so I didn't really enjoy the sex scenes in SYNDELLE'S POSSESSION. And since the sex scenes are a major part of the book, I didn't like the book all that much. Yes, yes, I know the synopsis clearly stated that there will be "graphic male/male sexual interactions", but I didn't really read the synopsis in detail, so I missed that out. Sigh.
Syndelle's parents lost one of their daughters long ago, so they have been overprotective of Syndelle since she was a kid. They've tried giving her the blood of her vamp father's, and that, incidentally, made her The Masada - some person that will be invaluable to any vamp that has her in their possession. Which made them even more protective of her. So Syndelle has led a sheltered life, tho trained in the ways of combat, she isn't a hunter like the rest of her Angelini brothers. That is, until she met Rafael at Bangers, some strip club in LA, and subsequently, Rafe's vamp master, Brann.
Rafe is an unwilling human companion to Brann, and if you're wondering, a vamp companion is sort of like a mate for life. Yeah, they're a couple of bi's.... Anyway, Rafe has been feeling very bitter about being the companion to a vamp, and that same vamp has placed a curse on him that stops him from ever coming again only if it's with Brann. So Rafe's eternal life has been tragic, and when he first met Sydnelle at Bangers, he hid all this under this mask of sardonism, which Syndelle eventually helped erode away.
But all is not well in LA, many prositutes have turned up either mutilated or dead - the females are severly disfigured and raped, the males raped and killed - and Syndelle decides to join arms with Skye (from book 1) and shove this mission up its own ass. But they're not alone in this dangerous endeavour, their mates are getting protective, and well, they are all along for the ride.
I liked the plot and Strong's writing style. Always have, and that's what made me go excavate all her other works. It's not only that she writes hot, steamy sexual scenes, but she can also interweave a wonderful, action-filled storyline with it, which I find sorely lacking in other Eroticas. That's why I only read a select few of 'em. And her plots are never those sub-standard, convenient cheap thrillers that are just there to make a story or back the romance up, but very well-thought of and detailed.
I liked that we got to see some of Skye and what her and her mates are up to, and I kinda liked Syndelle a lot more than Skye from SKYE'S TRAIL. Not that I disliked Skye or anything, but Syndelle was a very sweet and understanding girl that hid such courage. Skye was a little disappointed to see that her sis (ok, big spoiler. Skye was the long lost daughter of Syndelle's family) was such a soft, non-kickass girl, but her impression totally changed as she got to know her more.
Rafe was a jerk to Syndelle at the beginning, plus the fact that he's bi didn't endear him to me (No offense to any bi's reading this. I just feel a little uncomfortable when I read about a bi's sex life in detail). He insulted Syndelle's pride and all, but as I've said, it's all the sardonic facade he keeps on to protect himself from a horrific past, so when the mask is removed and he starts to get tender toward Syndelle, you'd just want to sit there and," Awwwwww."
Lol, but well, as I've said, I'm not a fan of m/m's, so when Brann and Rafe ahem, I just get turned-off.
One good thing came out of being sarcastic (talking about Rafe). He is so witty! I loved all his snark remarks and sarcastic comebacks, they're genius! And hilarious. Lol.
Example: "This is a residence hotel?" Syndelle asked, taking in the despair-coated walls, and the sunken, hopeless nature of the people she saw sitting on their small porches, smoking, or drinking, or simply staring into space.
"Residence hotel. Shithole," Rafe said. "Take your pick." (For some reason, I found this really funny. Might be the exam stress frying my brain.)
Other than the fact that Strong delved too fast into the lust and romance between the trio, I thought that the book was good. Slightly above average. A quick, fast read that menage/ m-m-f lovers will enjoy a lot.
I was surprised when I came to the last page of this book. Not because there was not resolution to the mystery that the plot revolved around but because I wasn’t ready to give up these characters. We get more of the Angelini and Vampire politics in this story as well as hints of Rafael’s story. I was glad that Skye was finally able to meet her sister and there is the promise that she will meet the rest of the family soon. I did keep hoping that the family would show up before the end so they could have a reunion. The family not showing up does diminish the overall book in anyway though.
Syndelle Coronado has been protected all her life not just because her sister was abducted but because of what she will be. The magic in her blood is ancient and could be very destructive. It is magic that was thought to be destroyed when the vampire were regulated to the night. Syndelle is a little afraid of the magic. One of the things that I really enjoyed about Syndelle is her conversations with her wolf. The wolf that is so much a part of her is confident, self-aware and has a wicked sense of humor. It also keeps Syndelle safe and centered as she learns to deal with her mates. While in the beginning Syndelle appeared to be a weak helpless female she proves over and over that she can live up to her Angelini heritage.
Rafael Fiero is a product of the environment he was thrown into when he escaped from the cult he was born into. In order to survive he became a stripper and prostitute and learned that no one was going to care if something happened to him. He has carried a chip on his shoulder for a very long time and he hurts Syndelle emotionally several times with his thoughtless comments and attitude. While Rafe is arrogant and defiant it is to hide the insecure and lonely teenager that feels he is unworthy of love and security. It takes Syndelle to show him that Brann really does care about him and wants to be his lover as well as a friend. There are some tense moments when Rafe is kidnapped but the problem is taken care of with only minimum description in the book.
Brann O’Ciardha is an ancient vampire. He is known as a sorcerer as well as the executioner of the council. He came to Las Vegas to get rid of a witch and decided to stay. To say that he is set in his ways and more than a little arrogant would be an understatement. He is so sure that he will be able to control Syndelle once she is his companion. That doesn’t happen of course but it is fun to watch him try. Syndelle is his match in many ways even though she is younger and less experienced. It is enjoyable to watch his interactions with Syndelle and Rafe, to see the acceptance and love form between the three. Syndelle is the bridge that brings the two males together for the first time.
Be warned that there are several m/m scenes in this story. Ms. Strong does a wonderful of bringing these three very different personalities together to form a united triad. There is a mystery that started in SKYE’S TRAIL that is solved here and of course the resolution of how Rafe became Brann's companion. There is also the resolution of who Skye’s family is which was very nice. This is a very quick read and for those that like paranormal a definite recommend.
Another enjoyable read by Jory Strong. Her style and depiction of Paranormal's is always fun, interesting and action packed. It's always interesting reading about Alpha's being brought to their knees. Especially arrogant ones. Brann O'Ciardha in this novel is such a one. He is a master vampire, sire to Gian, he is also a sorcerer. It is done in such a way that they are a better person for it. Not knocked down to nothing because of it. Rafael is a streetwise human rescued by Brann and claimed as a companion. He is not happy about it. When Brann claimed him he put a spell that stated he wouldn't come unless it was with Brann but worded in such a way that it meant Syndelle as well as she is his bondmate. Syndelle Coronado: The last born in this Angelini family. After Jovina is kidnapped and never recovered, Syndelle's family wrap her in cotton wool and over protect her. She is not taught to fight as all Angelini are. Not that it matters. Being the 7th born of Sabine's line she is The Masada. The barer of the Old Magic. These three are bound to be mated for eternity. Brann wants it straight away. Syndelle being who she is is able to prevent him from claiming and taming her. She is introduced to Skye during the investigation into the deaths, rapes and brutalisations of male and female strippers. Skye is Jovina, the lost sister of The Angelini. A great read. Wonderful sex scenes. Plenty of action.
Another good read. The heroine is Skye's sister [heroine of the previous book:]. Through her, Skye learns about her family and how she became separated from them and how to understand manage what it means to be Angelini. She finds her mates as well [no surprise there:] - like Skye one of them is a human, the other is a very powerful vampire. The sexual dynamics are very different than the first book. All three mates are aware of the supernatural world and two of them are magic users [the third has the capability but is untrained:].
Like the previous book, murders and assaults abound and playing politics takes on a whole new meaning when you are talking about the vampire world.
The Angelini series: Skye's Trail Syndelle's Possession Mystic's Run...
This was a pretty good book. Even though Syndelle is Angelini, there is something different about her. This difference is the main focus of the story and the driving factor for a lot of the action and mystery. Syndelle was a very likable character. She was smart, strong, and loyal and knew when to compromise. Her mates, Rafael and Brann, were secondary characters, IMO. I don't think Brann nor Rafael were developed enough, even though we got a glimpse of some of Rafael's past. The romance between the three was OK, but it was more lust, than love. It was the action and mystery that kept this story going for me.
i liked this one more that the previous book.. thougg i really don't like Syndelle's defiance towards Brann.. i know that she wants freedom and that she doesn't want to live the way she did with her family, but still, Brann's her mate, he's being overly protective because he loves her.. and anyway, she should've rebelled on her family, not on Brann.. anyway.. i love Brann and Rafael.. to bad Brann wasn't allowed to really avenged his companions, i would have really like to see/read what torture he would come up with..
So he's trail was great but Syndelle and Rafe are simply. The best. Rafe damaged from childhood hates himself and pushes everyone away. Until sweet. Sheltered. Syndelle. She loves him unconditionally. Brann is the big scarey vamp. But Rafe and Sydelle defy him all the time. The story is awesome. I love the suspense. Great job again Jory please keep them coming.
still interesting enough to keep reading. trying to figure out if i'm just done with the insta-love story or this one in particular just didn't move me.
