Heir by V.T. DO is book four of the King’s Men MC series. This is the first book I’ve read by V.T. DO and I will be reading the rest of this series. This is a dark romance MC novel. The story is well written and flows effortlessly.
Kai and Gemma meet through her friend Blue when she comes to stay with him. I loved both Kai’s and Gemma’s character depth. They’ve both have suffered through trauma and darkness. I love how the story ends with an HEA for them.
I loved all these characters so much. Please tell me Blue is getting a book, he might be my favorite person. I love how protective and loyal he is to Gemma.
I loved reading this so much. This can be read as a stand-alone or you can start at the beginning of the series. I would start at the beginning personally, now I have to go back and read the other books. This is suspenseful and action packed; It’s sure to not disappoint.

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐1\2 Trope: heroine in peril, found family Angst: 😱😱 Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This series has been fantastic! Gemma seeks out her best friend Blue who is a member of Kai's MC. But as soon as he meets the quirky Gemma, its game over for Kai.
These two characters were absolutely perfect for each other and supported the other in surprising ways. The chemistry between them was off the charts. This book was a little heavier on the smexy and lighter on the plot than the others were, but it was still an exciting ride. It was well written, fast paced, and had some fantastic twists. Can't wait to read the last book!
4/5⭐️ I am in love with Kai, his character is really original and unique. The difference between when he was with any other girls and when he is with Gemma is just so cute. He really loves her. His relationship with his dad was perfect, a relationship that makes you really happy to read! I had a bit of difficulty’s liking Gemma because of my personal preferences but overall she’s a strong women and someone who I wish I could met in real life! She had nothing yet gave everything in her heart to Kai, so sweet. I really liked the writing, I would definitely recommend this book! It had me wondering the whole book what was behind the nexts pages. But I wished there was a bit more relationship with Gemma and the members of the MC. That’s the only reason I gave this book a 4 stars. This is my first book by V. T. DO and I’ll happily read some more! What a great discovery!

Quotes:📖 There was a demon inside me, trying to claw its way out. Every day was a battle, and I— I was just so fucking tired.
But Kai… When he looked at me, the world seemed to blossom in full, vibrant color.
“It’s not your problem.” He laughed, but it didn’t sound like he thought anything was funny. “Oh, this is definitely my problem. And unluckily for those bastards, it’s personal.”
Thoughts: 💡 This was a fun and spicy read with a very sweet, neurodivergent FMC and the bloodthirsty biker that loves her. I really liked that the FMC was neurodivergent and the author handled it with care. She showed the struggles a person would have, but she didn’t write a magical cure or make the go away, she didn’t even officially diagnose the character; she simply showed how the character would live and thrive with her differences.

First and foremost- I WANT MORE BLUE 😫😂 please tell me he’s going to get a book?! 🥹
Okay but for real, I throughly enjoyed this book. I have never read from this author before but that’s seriously about to change. I’ve gone down the rabbit whole 😂 I will be binging the rest of her books now ✌🏻If you are someone who likes mc romance but likes it on the “lighter side” then you will love this book.
The plot was a lot, a lot of twist, turns, and crazy connections I would have never guessed BUT it was so good. It seriously was not at all how I pictured this book going.
🏍️ Kai is a growly, alphahole, who walks around with a permanent scowl. He is the son of the mc president and the sole heir. 🎀 Gemma is a bit of the “damsel in distress”. She meets Kai threw Blue (her best friend) She’s very shy and timid due to past trauma and it brings out Kai’s softer protective side.
📚The further I got into this book the more stuck I became. I got extremely attached to all of the characters in this book. The bond between Kai and his father, Blue and Gemma, and Kai and Blue was so well written. 🥹❤️ can I have a Kai or blue? Maybe one of each ? I’d be okay with that 😂
I absolutely love the bond between blue and Gemma. They are childhood friends and he made himself her unassigned protector. His loyalty to her and sincerity was everything. 😫🥹❤️
4/5 ⭐️ 10/10 would recommend. Just read it. I promise you won’t regret it. ❤️
MMC/FMC- Kai and Gemma Genre- MC Romance POV- 1st person dual Heat- they do all the things and use all the C words Series? Y Cliffhanger? N HEA/HFN? Y Triggers- kidnapping, eating disorder issues/discussion, explicit erotic content, language, attempted trafficking, graphic violence. Tropes- Club Prince, BDSM Lite, Surprise Pregnancy, Alpha Male What I loved- it’s awesome to find a romance with a Neuro atypical heroine! And I think that it was handled pretty sensitively. What I liked- the relationships between the characters (whether positive or negative), the fact that they discussed the gaslighting rather than letting it be implied that the heroine was a pushover, that there was no cliffhanger despite the amount of late-book revelations, the amount of action. What I wasn’t quite as keen on- I thought that the revelations about the heroine’s heritage were a bit too convenient. But it was important to the story. Verdict- This book had a perfect balance between action and romance, with strong and layered characters. I highly recommend it.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I really enjoyed this book. It was the first book from this author, that I read, but this is about to change now! The writing style of V.T. Do is (in my personal opinion) amazing, easy to read and intriguing.
Kai and Gemma filled my heart with so much love and passion. They both have their demons, trauma and darkness to fight, which they do amazingly throughout the book. I liked the character depth and complexity.
I swallowed this book so quickly and flew though the pages like crazy. It was so addictive. :-) I definitely recommend reading it.
And I will definitely read the other King's Men MC books. Hopefully, we will also become a boout about Blue. Such a good and caring man, it will be great to get to know his story.
This was my first book by V.T. Do, and it will definitely not be my last! This was a romantic suspense that kept me hooked from the beginning. Kai is a part of a MC, and he meets Gemma from another member of the club. He's obsessed with her from the beginning. Gemma knows of Kai, but this was the first time they meet. Kai was possessive and besotted with Gemma, and their relationship was a roller-coaster ride. Gemma was in trouble when they meet, and Kai becomes her protector. The action and sexy times are so intense, and I can't wait to read the next book!
*I received an ARC from the author for my honest review*
Gemma’s mother is acting weird and she goes to her friend Blue to stay for awhile. Blue is a member of the King’s Men Motorcycle Club so he brings her to the club. Kai sees her and is attracted to her but wants to fight it. Gemma has a crush on Kai and doesn’t know how to go about seducing him because she’s inexperienced. One night changes everything and they start seeing each other. They both have difficult past and the danger is coming at them fast. Great characters and storyline Highly recommended Amazing book. Absolutely love Kai and Gemma. The supporting characters are amazing and the twists and turns keep you guessing. The spice as always is hot
Anytime I get the chance to read a book by V.T. Do, I know I'm going to love it. Heir was a great story. This romantic suspense will draw you in and keep you hooked the entire time. Heir is full of wonderful characters, unexpected twists, and its fair share of spice. This is book four in The Kings Men MC series, and while you can read it as a standalone, I would say just read them in order because they are all great books.
Genre: Dark, MC Romance Series Type: Standalone, but connected to a character series. Book Length: Novel POV: Alternating Dual Setting: Sacramento, California Male MC: Kai Madden is the heir to the president of the King’s Men MC. He survived a tragic and violent incident when he was a teenager which has hardened him into a dangerous and ofttimes apathetic man. Kai is 25 and has brown hair and blue eyes. Female MC: Gemma Gallagher is a sweet and innocent woman who suffers with severe body confidence and food insecurities created by her cruel and abusive mother. She is manipulated and used by her own family that is supposed to love and protect her, but betrays her at every turn. Gemma is 29 and has blonde hair and brown eyes. Endearment: Pretty Girl and Baby Spice Level: Medium/High Frequency of Spice: Medium/High Angst Level: Low Cliffhanger: No Epilogue: Yes My Review: OMG I loved Kai and Gemma’s story so much! It was absolutely perfect in every way. Gemma struggles with so many issues from body image to feeling abnormally different, which really resonated with me. She is vulnerable but so strong and just wants to be loved and made to feel special and cherished. Good thing she catches the eye of the ultimate alpha bad-boy who falls devastatingly hard for her. Kai is battling his own demons but when he meets Gemma, he becomes obsessed with her and vows to protect and keep her by his side forever. He is gentle but possessive and it was so heartwarming to experience their love together. I’m incredibly impressed with this series and I cannot wait to read Micah’s book next!
Kai was having another nightmare. That day haunted his dreams and stayed with him during the day. Although it has been ten years, it fills like yesterday. Blood on the ground beneath them... so cold as the blood drained from the gunshot wound. Jude beside him... his hand found in the river the next day.
When he looked in the bathroom mirror seeing his father's image staring back the dream that woke him came back... first, the alleyway with Jude but now the image on the ground next to him wasn't his cousin but it was his father's dead eyes looking at him.
His life has been bad since he was fifteen but the last year was the worse. He could still hear the woman on TV saying words he had dreaded since he found out what his dad did for a living. "Dominic Madden was dead." Thank God his father wasn't dead. He needed to draw out the traitors in the club and playing dead was the only way to do it. His dad was the president of the King's Men MC club and many wanted him dead.
Kai wasn't heir because his dad was president of the MC club. He had worked hard and was a computer genius. It was his computer skills which helped them take down the corrupt mayor and judge who tried to take out the King's Men MC and take over their business.
Gemma was trying not to fall into old habits when her mother grabbed her orange juice and poured it down the drain and gave her the side-eye as she thought better of reaching for the cream cheese for her dry bagel. Her mother was always looking at her critically and was now telling her that she had an outfit delivered to Gemma's apartment for their dinner tonight with Uncle Frank, her deceased father's oldest brother, stressing that they needed to make him happy.
Gemma had left Sacramento as fast as she could when she graduated high school making sure to attend a college in Boston to be away from her mother and creepy stepfather. That was until she lost her job and was forced to move back home and work for Mayor Gallagher, another uncle. Her employment with him ended quickly two years ago when it was discovered he was corrupt and was in prison for a twenty-year sentence when killed by Savkin Bratva members he had helped send to prison.
Her mother just received an eviction notice which was why she wanted to make her other uncle happy. Although why her mother thought he would help was beyond her and when she saw the outfit that she was expected to wear she was even more confused. Luckily she had a cardigan she put over the very exposing neckline although she couldn't do anything about the length but pray she didn't have to bend over. There was no way she was wearing the six-inch heels and grabbed her flats.
When they arrived at her uncle's home she was even more confused and when she found out what her mother had done she ran...
I loved this book! It is very well written and the characters are fully developed and relatable. Heir is a standalone novel, but you really need to start this series from the beginning to fully understand the underlying history and how everything connects.
This book is action-packed from cover to cover and smoking hot. It is full of suspense and danger although it takes a while for you to find out what Gemma is running from and then you see how evil the Gallagher family really is.
This book is full of unexpected twists! If you like dark romance you will love this series! Can't wait for Micah's story!!!
Heir by V.T. DO is the fourth book in the King’s Men MC series, I’ve not read this author before but it’s fair to say I was hooked from the go. You can read this book as a stand-alone (clearly I went in blind) and I had no problem following the story. However I do feel that it would be beneficial to read the other books in the series as this would give you a more rounded knowledge of the characters and the world they inhabit. It’s fair to say that after this I will be binging on all things King’s Men and V.T. Do! This is an MC book do be prepared for lots of blood, guts and gore and some very spicy scenes so be aware of your triggers.
This book focuses on Kai Madden son of the President of the King’s Men and Gemma Gallagher. They meet through Gemma’s best friend Blue who is a member of the King’s Men. Gemma is 29 but she’s very innocent, her family were fairly rich and her uncles had connections. Gemma has lived a certain life of privilege but her relationship with her mother is fraught given her mother’s expectations regarding how she sees her daughter. Especially where Gemma’s image is concerned leading to a concerning relationship with food in particular. Gemma knows she’s a disappointment to her family but she’s working hard on herself and wants to make things better but struggles with how to do this. Gemma has a certain way she processes information and I liked how this was represented. She not just a typical FMC she’s very nuanced in how she’s written. Gemma worries about how people see her and thanks to her mothers actions she struggles with her self image/ how she interacts with others. When Gemma discovers she’s in danger from those closest to her she runs to her only true friend Blue. What ensues is a story of betrayal, loss and trauma as well as great love, loyalty and a journey of self discovery.
Kai is haunted by his past, a decision he made when he was younger has had a lasting affect on every aspect of his life. He’s very much enmeshed in the MC life and most definitely a player. On the surface all is good in Kai’s world but he struggles with letting anyone else in. He’s a neat freak and does not like anyone in his space. Kai is loyal to his family and MC. but is ruthless to his enemies.
I loved the relationship between Kai and Gemma, for a man who’s a love them and leave them kind of person the way he was with Gemma was enchanting. Kai is a harsh, hard man but he was so sensitive to and protective of Gemma’s needs. There is an air of vulnerability to Gemma that speaks to Kai and boy does that bring out his protective and dominant instincts. Gemma may be four years older than Kai but her innocence shines through. That being said Gemma may be a bit of a damsel in distress but she is quite strong in her own way and has to draw on that resilience when her world is turned upside down. Secrets come to light which have far reaching consequences on both Kai and Gemma with the past needing to be rewritten when an enemy presents themselves.
I received an advance review copy for free and I’m leaving this review voluntarily. Honestly I loved this book, the characters were well developed and the storytelling was brilliant. There was action and drama aplenty but there was plenty of romance and spicy scenes. The banter between the characters was a joy to read and as always with an MC book I loved the brotherhood and the way they were there for one another. I will definitely be reading more from this author.
Gemma is running away from home to stay with her best friend. Blue has been like a brother to her since they were kids and she had no one else to turn to but him. Her best friend is also a member of the infamous King’s Men MC.
Kai wasn’t sure about Blue’s decision to have William Gallagher’s niece around, but he couldn’t help being intrigued by her. She needed a keeper, and he finds himself wanting to be that for her.
When the reason she ran away is revealed and the MC enemies come to try and take them down, things between the two get a whole lot complicated. They both will need to stay together to survive the chaos.
This is the fourth book in the King’s Men series. It’s a dark MC romance that deals with dark subjects that caused the two main characters some traumas they needed to work out. The book combines suspense, erotica, and light BDSM to weave a captivating love story.
I have to say that even with all the dark elements in this book, these two were cute. The way Kai went from controlling and distant to protective and possessive. Still controlling though ;). Gemma kept saying that she was different, odd and too much work, but together, they were perfect for each other.
This book is emotional and thrilling. Despite the plot’s darkness, it makes you fall in love. Their chemistry was intense and you can feel all the emotions the characters feel. It’s a roller-coaster of emotions and I couldn’t put the book down. It is an enjoyable read and I highly recommend it.
With a few glimpses of the other characters, it was easy to fall in love with them again. I loved Gemma’s relationship with Dominic and how he treated her. And the way the other women made her fit into their circle. You can't help but like Gemma and Blue's friendship. They love each other to the point they would do anything to protect each other even when it gets tough.
Kai and Gemma are the most adorable couple in this series. Like all the other couples are great but these two... It's difficult not to love them. They are always there when the other needs them. Well, I love all the characters in this series.
Once again V.T. Do made me fall in love with her writing.
Heir by V.T. Do is the first book of hers that I've read and I hate that I waited so long. Heir is the 4th book in her The Kings Men MC series and I LOVED it! I will definitely be going back and starting at the beginning. The way she wrote the characters I was just drawn in instantly to the story. This book at it all - the unexpected twists, the character's trauma, instant love, and attraction and it got so STEAMY!! This is the story of Kai and Gemma. Kai is the President's son and next in line to be President. His life has been full of trauma from an abusive mother who wasn't kicked out of his life soon enough to the guilt of his best friend being killed when he was a teenager. He hasn't had the easiest life and was against connecting with people because they were untrustful. Gemma lost her father when she was young and was raised by her abusive mother who did nothing but tear her down so she starved and had no self-esteem or confidence at all. Her only friend in life was Blue because she didn't know how to make emotional connections or even understand emotions. When she learned what her mother did she ran to Blue to hide and that's when she met Kai. She already knew who he was and had helped him once unbeknownst to him. They had an instant connection to each other. It made Kai furious that he wanted her until he came to terms with it and Gemma didn't understand what she was feeling or how someone like Kai could want a woman like her. But together they overcame a lot of the trauma they lived with and faced both of their pasts that they didn't know connected. I don't want to give anything away but the twist that connects them was shocking. Thankfully they had each other to help deal with it or I don't know what would have happened. I gave this book a 5-star rating and a 5-spicy rating. There was no way that I couldn't. The characters were so connectable, the romance and spiciness were off the charts from the start and the hero has to save the girl. What more could you ask for from a romance book? I can't wait to read the next one! *I received this book for free. I voluntarily gave an honest review.*
I can't believe how emotional this book made me. I loved it and loved the characters and how they fell for each other through all the things going on with the Kings Men mc. Kai is the son of Dominic Madden who is the president of the Kings Men mc. He doesn't do relationships and spends as little time with a woman before letting her go, he actually likes to tie them to his bed so they can't wander around his room and touch things. However, as soon as he sets eyes on Gemma Gallagher he knows that she will be his. Gemma has run away from her mother and her creepy stepfather because they are trying to sell Gemma's virginity on the dark web. Her mother has always put her down making her feel bad about herself and it has wrecked her confidence. She has gone to stay with her best friend Blue who belongs to the Kings Men mc. The Kings Men are preparing to ship some illegal goods when they find out that the Savkin Bratva have become involved and are dealing in human trafficking. When Gemma gets pulled into it Kai will do whatever he can to save her even if it means killing people. Both Gemma and Kai had mothers who were not interested in them and who treated them badly. That's when I had trouble keeping my emotions together. As a mother I cannot understand when a person who should love you unconditionally has no time for you and treats you like garbage. It's shocking to me. The steamy times between Gemma and Kai is off the charts and the feelings they had for each other made me tear up. The violence is explicit as in the other books, but again, not gratuitous in any way. I am not sure if there will be more books in The King's Men mc series, I have absolutely loved every book. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Thanks Candi Kane and VT for sending me a copy of this book to read and review.
Well this is the 3rd book Of Vt's I have read and boy did i enjoy it.
Heir follows the story of Kai Madden who is the son to leader of the Kingsmen MC. HE is the Heir to the MC thrown. This man has grown up in the Mc and seen the life he will lead when he takes over. He learns the ropes from his father and his men but also see's things differently to others. He is a real tech guy. brilliant at what he does but when
Gemma was a smart woman. she lived a life that on the outskirts looked privileged and perfect but behind close doors was nothing but fake and restrictive. Her mother was obsessed with putting her down about her weight making her not feel good enough. the reality was her mother was faking it to try and be something she wanted to stay being so badly.
When Gemma and Kai first meet she is on the run but the people who are after her also wants to bring down the Kingsmen MC. Kai is the easiest target or so they think but what they are unaware of his how much kai protects what is his and Gemma and the MC are his.
This was a gripping story that had me on the edge of my seat throughout. Kai and Gemma are incredible characters. SO much happens within this story the twists and turns take you by surprise leaving you unable to guess what happens next. I bloody Loved it.
Thanks VT another incredible Book.
My Overall Rating is 5 💋💋💋💋💋 My Character Rating is 5 ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ My Smut Rating is 4 🍆🍆🍆🍆 My Angst Rating is 4😬😬😬😬
I did have to pause reading this because the first chapter with Kai’s POV is him waking up in his bed with another woman tied to his bed naked🤢No he hasn’t met the h yet but I HATE THAT SHIT😡 immediately deduct a star there! Now after a couple days I picked this book back up and really enjoyed it! Gemma is in trouble and runs to her bff who happens to be in the mc club and Kai’s right hand man. Blue was such a great friend to Gemma, he loves her like a sister. Kai is a complicated character, having lost someone close to him as a teenager and he holds so much guilt. He doesn’t like to be touched and a grump. When Kai sees Gemma walk into his mc bar there is a immediate attraction and it doesn’t take long for him to act on it. He tries to stay away but anytime someone gets close to her he loses it…no one can touch her! Gemma is actually older than Kai by 4 years but she has a personality “disorder” which makes he seem much younger. She is a 29 yr virgin. Her mom is a POS😡This poor girl has not had it easy… I loved how possessive and protective Kai was and how sweet and innocent Gemma was.🥰They we’re perfect for each other! Lots of twists that actually connected Gemma and Kai No real OW drama: One of the waitresses at the mc bar intentionally spills beer on Gemma because it’s obvious she wants Kai. It’s never said if he slept with her in the past but he FIRED her ass so fast, bye Felicia👏🏻 Kai doesn’t have eyes for anyone but Gemma❤️
Although I've loved every book in the Kings Men series so far, this one might be my favorite. The couple in this book probably had the most normal start and relationship out of the couples we've been introduced to. Even though it still had issues each mc had to deal with, and there was still action, this book had a sweeter feel to it but didn't take away from anything. I loved how Kai, despite his trauma and issues and insecurities still tried. And even though neither had been in a relationship ended being a cute strong couple. Maybe because of Emmy, but Dominic had more of a softness to him in this book and wasn't afraid to display it especially to newcomer Gemma. I loved the paternal relationship he had with her. I also liked the character Blue and seeing the brotherly love, care and protectiveness he had for Gemma. I hope to see more of him and hopefully his book where he gets his girl and HEA. I'm glad we finally got closure about Jude, because the math wasn't math-ing and I knew there was more to the story. I hope aunt Jenny stops pushing her family away I know it hurt Dom so hopefully the baby steps to a reunion we saw in the end was just the beginning. I wouldn't have minded a secondary or longer epilogue. Maybe after the new addition to the family was born. Overall, awesome addition to the series, read in one sitting. Definitely reading the next one! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
When this story starts, you really get a sense that these two characters are broken. Gemma has grown up in a house where she was belittled and verbally beaten down. Kai is angry and has a very ingrained need for control. This must have something to do with what happened when he was younger. He seems borderline obsessive compulsive in that he has to have things clean and organised and doesn't like too many people in his space.
With Gemma, he's different. He still needs control, but he's not as antsy with her in his space. I think he sees her as someone who needs control, too, but in a different way. They are good for each other. Gemma can help Kai learn to let people in and let down his walls a little while he can help her overcome all the insecurities caused by her mum. They can heal each other.
Together, they've learned how to heal. I really enjoyed this and loved the way Kai was with Gemma. His need for control went to a new level, but it was something Gemma needed, I think.
There was plenty of tension, and there is a great storyline. It held your interest
It took me a minute to get used to this writing style. There's a phrase that was used quite a bit throughout the book that was quite irritating to be. There was a twist I did not see coming, so that was really well done. Very enjoyable, thank you.
Kai and Gemma’s story was a whirlwind of emotional turmoil, heartache, pain, anger, passion and an all consuming love.
Both Kai and Gemma have gone through so much of their own personal trauma and darkness, that they both feel that they are unworthy of love.
When their eyes first connect across the room, you could feel that instant connection clicking into place for both of them. But there will be a lot of hurdles they will have to go through before they can allow each other in.
I love the journey that both Kai and Gemma take us on. They have this undeniable instant connection, with desire, passion, and love for each other. I loved how possessive and protective Kai was over Gemma. But there were some moments that Gemma really frustrated me, but I think that was because she was such a naïve young woman. These two were perfect for each other. And knew instantly how to help the other heal.
I think all of us readers can agree, we definitely want a happy ever after story for Blue. He’s an incredible character, an amazing friend and just a sweet and adorable man.
This was another amazing story in this series. It was filled with action, suspense, violence, and some twists and turns that I had no idea we’re going to happen towards the end of the story. It was well written, made me laugh and tear up a bit, plus it had a absolutely wonderful ending.
From the beginning, this book has a different feel than the previous books in the series. Dominic and Roman's stories had a brutality that is replaced with a deeply hidden vulnerability here, though Kai has the same ruthlessness as the others.
Kai has a vast need for control, which shows in his surroundings and interactions with others. It is hard for him to trust others and let people in. His flaky and irresponsible mom is part of the reason for this. The accident years ago where his best friend Jude was taken and later presumed dead still haunts him, and he feels guilty for surviving.
Gemma has been bullied and abused by her mother all her childhood. She was starved, called fat, and, as a result, has a very strained relationship with food. It also made her shy among other people and slightly socially awkward.
Both main characters have mother issues, traumas from childhood, and psychiatric problems because of it. Somehow, they manage to find strength and safety in each other.
When Gemma's mom tries to use her for her gain, Gemma runs away to her best friend, Blue, who is a member of the same MC club as Kai. The moment they meet sparks fly, and Kai can't stay away. But Gemma's mom and her partners don't give up easily, and it is soon apparent that something bigger is happening.
The story is captivating, has a good pace, and has the right amount of action. The plot twists are good, but for an experienced reader, some of them might be predictable. All in all, a good addition to the series.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. This is my own opinion and was not influenced by anyone.
Heir is the first book I have picked up by V.T. Do. and it will not be the last. This is Kai's story. He is the son of the president of the King's Men MC. He is dark, brooding and a time bomb about to explode. Gemma Gallagher is an awkward woman who has become obsessed with Kai. Inexperienced with men and relationships, she doesn't know how to approach the situation. Luckily, he is pretty obsessed with Gemma too.
The story moves pretty quickly. Most of the story settles around the relationship between Kai and Gemma. The story does rely on some of the MC to provide back-up but they are a big part of the story. Both main characters have some challenges. The darkness in Kai stems from earlier and I love the way she can quiet him and give him peace. Gemma has a challenge dealing with and understanding others. Kai is able to help her through her panic attacks. I enjoy getting to know these characters, who are far from perfect. Gemma is very awkward and often misunderstands intentions and situations.
There are a couple of unexpected events and a major twist that I did not see coming. Kai and Gemma are quite a st€amy couple and the scenes are on fire.I enjoyed reading about these complicated people who find love with each other.
I feel into a serious reading slump right after I signed up to read this book and I was a little worried I would be unable to get into it as not a single book this past month had been able to get me interested but when I tell you that this book had me enthralled the entire time I mean it. You go into the first couple of chapters feeling a bit blind as you are immediately immersed into both Gemma and Kai's individual lives. You see their suffering and struggles within themselves and with those around them and it causes you to hurt with them. There are a lot of hard topics in this book from parental loss to eating disorders and human trafficking. Gemma and Kai are both a bit lost when they find each other through a mutual 'friend' but you see how bit by bit they find comfort and safety in each other and don't worry the spice is PERFECT! These two are amazing, and you slowly watch them grow through their own insecurities. While this may be book 4 of the King's Men MC you can read it as a stand-alone no problem. I'll end with please take a look at the TWings as there are some very heavy topics covered in this story but 10/10 this was an amazing story and I am so glad I pushed myself to start this one.

This was by far the most interesting of the whole series. Nothing is over explained and the spice is delicious. Interesting read.
SPOILERS: Kai is akin to that of Christian Grey but toes the line nicer. I found Gemma a very interesting FMC and a lot of her interactions feel a lot more natural than other FMCs in this series. Genuine problems and trauma that isn't overexplained - you are left with questions.
The twist in this one I saw coming but still felt like a great shock - kudos to the writer.
The spice in this book is by far the best - it escalates and it engages without feeling over the top.
BIG SPOILERS: The let tone is the book's repetitive nature and the fast character arcs. The same words get used over and over again for dialogue and descriptions of feelings. This may be used on purpose for Gemmas character but it felt lacking. The way the sex is written is repetitive if interesting still to read. And like the other stories in this series the ending is pretty much a carbon copy. Why are all these women being kidnapped? It was a letdown for me. There was so much that could have been done with this - the twist could have presented but more interesting options.
Despite all that liked the book enough I finished it.
If you like an MC story with a possessive Hero and a damsel in some distress - ticks my boxes -then you'll love this.
This is book 4 in the series, all are linked and all are infinitely readable, well written with a satisfying dose of plot. You could read this is a standalone, but we revisit some of the previous characters and it is strangely satisfying having that level of character familiarity, so I recommend diving in with Book 1.
Heir gives us the son of President of King's Men MC, Dominic Madden - Kai - and Gemma, a heroine who has some serious mental health issues. Please read the author's triggers here.
The chemistry between these two polar opposites is electric, oh lord VT Do does smexy so well! The apple hasn't fallen far from the tree and Kai has all of his father's obsessive traits, Gemma does not stand a chance from the get go.....delicious stuff.
There is a Bratva threat brewing in the background and a final reveal, I guarantee you will NOT see coming.
I felt the ending crammed in far too much in a whiplash style finale, but no matter.
A cracking read. So much so I want to reread Books 1,2 & 3! I can't say fairer than that.

Kai Madden is a mid-20’s young man that is heir to Kings Men MC. He has a hardened exterior and chilling personality after enduring trauma at a young age. Gemma Gallagher is a naive and damaged almost 30-something young woman. Her mother has belittled her all of her life and she suffers from poor self-esteem, inability to establish relationships, and food insecurities. Kai and Gemma are introduced by Blue, and it’s clear there is plenty of angst, tension, and chemistry brewing.
They both have childhood trauma that has shaped them into the people they are today. Kai wanted to fight their instant connection, but that surely didn’t last long. I loved how possessive, obsessive, and protective Kai became with Gemma. She desperately needed him to be her armor and in turn, she became the protector of his heart. The spice was fantastic and I loved every moment!
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I cannot wait to delve into more of their books!
Tropes: Contemporary romance, MC romance, dark romance, instalove, over-the-top, virgin heroine, happily-ever-after Heat: 5/5.
