Billionaire Grump's Baby

Rate this book
That hot grump I yelled at on the sidewalk?
He's my new boss, my fake husband and now I'm having his baby.

Faking a marriage to a gorgeous but emotionally unavailable billionaire was always going to be a challenge.

Especially as he's hot as sin, kisses like a god and has a smile that makes my insides flip over.

But he's arrogant, pigheaded, delights in being a pain in my butt and our fake marriage is only for six months.

I need to protect myself and keep things strictly professional.

But the closer we get,
The more he shows me his softer side,
And I realize we're more alike than I ever expected.

Maybe we could have the future together I've been dreaming of.

But he says we should stick to the rules of our deal.

Six months of no-strings fun, then we both move on.
Except he's going to be my baby's daddy,
But I haven't told him yet.

Billionaire Grump's Baby is a steamy, fake marriage, enemies-to-lovers romance. It's a full length, stand-alone novel with no cheating, no cliff hangers and a gorgeously romantic happily ever after.

I have read this story/trope so many times that I stopped counting and wonder why I even bother anymore. I keep waiting for someone to change anything up and surprise me by being a bit original but I have better chances of winning the Lotto then waiting for it to happen.

That being said, there were things that I liked and things that I loathed.

I can't understand what the attraction is for authors to make Heroes into manho's. Are we supposed to believe he has a magic banana or something because constantly reading about his exploits and the countless of women he was with before hooking up with heroine, does only one thing and that is to disgust me. So here, we get to read how he hooks up regularly with OP and since he knew heroine from the time she was 15 or 17 and even fell in love in college with someone else, that tells me that she was nothing special and he just needed to add her to his never ending bed post.
Also, in the beginning when his Father is raking him over the coals about a picture of him naked in bed with multiple women, that tells me he was into orgies too but no further mentions is made other then that he hooks up regularly with women. Yuck!

- Why are heroines always written as dumb horny idiots? Since majority of romances are written by female authors, I take offense on this. Can we just stop with it? Please and Thank you.
Heroine here was constantly horny. Every time Hero bossed her around, she got horny and wet her panties.🙄 Lol.

Once MCs finally get together, the story somewhat improves into a sweet romance. But the problem is that it takes 80% or so for them to get there and by then I just wanted it to end. I'm not a fan of plots where Hero sleeps around and even falls in love with OW after meeting heroine. I don't care if she was a teen when he met her because later in the story he tells her how attracted he was to her when she was a teen and yet he still slept around.

As for heroine, at least she slept around too and didn't wait for him to notice her all the years she was crushing on him but that just annoyed me too because for a fictional romance we want the fantasy of true love and having them sleep with others does not speak "true love" to me.

Safety:

No OW/OM dramalama
No Cheating
Neither a virgin
Both MCs fell in love with others in teh past after 1st meeting as teens/young adults
No intimate details with OP except with Hero and that mention of pic. See above.

Love with a Familiar Stranger

When teenaged Hazel Dawson of West Virginia first met her brother Cooper’s college roommate, Luke DeWinter of New Jersey, Hazel was dazzled by the apparent suave sophistication of her brother’s friend. Luke, with his mussed dark hair with brooding blue eyes, was the epitome of the tall, dark, and handsome heroes in the historic novels she loved to read.

Now, as an adult, Hazel, a talented freelance writer, is a resident of New York City where she has acquired an agent to help promote her work to the city’s prestigious publishing houses. Her goal is to write the same enthralling historic romances that so influenced her desire to become a writer. But dreams don’t always become reality. When Hazel’s first attempt at writing an engaging historic romance fails, she turns to pursuing any writing assignment to keep her living in New York.

So, when her agent Sarah arranges for Hazel to meet a potential client and CEO’s son of whose image needs repairing Hazel agrees to the introduction. It seems that dad thinks that his son’s image needs polishing for him to receive the support of the company’s board. So, dad has suggested that the son “write” his autobiography—or at least secure a talented writer to “ghost” the autobiography—to redeem the son’s reputation and to make him acceptable as the new CEO. So, while it is not the quite the historical fiction for which Hazel wishes to desires to gain, it will pay the rent.

But when Hazel arrives for the meeting with Sarah and the potential client, she is stunned. The client is none other than her brother’s college roommate and still best friend. When the stunned potential employer and employee meet, neither were expecting to meet a familiar face—a person with whom they share connection—brother and best friend, Cooper. How can they comfortably interact when they know each other?

So, they agree to meet again to explore the possibility of working together. But when they meet again, they certainly weren’t expecting their innocent meeting to be photographed. And, when paparazzi attempt to cash in on apparently compromising images suggesting salacious activities between the couple, Luke’s father, who has become the recipient of the awkward photos, demands an audience with his son. Luke must concoct a story to explain the encounter. So, he schemes for the news to get out that Hazel is his fiancée. Hopefully, the public announcement of an engagement of Luke and Hazel will satisfy both Dewinter Senior and divert the paparazzi from the publication of the photos. But once a coverup begins, the story gets complicated, especially when attraction and real love gets into the mix.

Roxy Reid again delightfully leads her readers through the highs and lows of love among acquaintances. I received an ARC of the romance, but also purchased a copy. I am voluntarily leaving a review.

Luke and Hazel's Story . . .

This is a good fake marriage story where Hazel Dawson and her brother’s best friend, Luke Dewinter, come together as she takes a ghost writer job to complete his memoir that his dad insisted on. This is supposed to make him appear more likable and respectable to the Board when his father retires, because right now, his dad doesn’t think they have confidence in him taking over Helius Airlines because he has no problem telling them all what he actually thinks! So she will have to remake his professional image – but without invading his privacy! But he has no time to find someone else, and she refuses to write a boring book about him. With only 2 months to get this done, they will be spending long hours, late nights, sharing intimate conversations... and they would probably kill each other! The problem is, he has always been attracted to Hazel and working that closely, he won’t be able to shove his feelings aside if their work is that intense. So he told his father he can’t work with her. And his father told him the book is due in 2 months or he won’t recommend him for CEO. So there is no other choice.

Luke grabs Hazel’s notebook and writes a list of rules if they are going to do this writing project together. He writes that she will earn a 25% bonus if Luke becomes CEO in 6 months. So she signs the mini-contract in her notebook. Despite him promising 5 hours a week of his time, he still hasn’t accepted her requests to meet. Already this wasn’t working. So she will show up at his office and refuse to leave until he allows their first interview. On the way she calls her brother who explains the serious nature of Luke’s job in keeping their airplanes safe to protect millions of people. His safety record speaks for itself. And she begins to understand the workaholic personality who loathes interviews.

Then Luke’s dad decides a book isn’t enough. He demands Luke be married by the end of the month – a condition for getting his recommendation for CEO. Can he convince Hazel to marry him only long enough for him to get the CEO job? Hazel and Luke have known each other for many years, so recognizing real love can be a difficult hurdle sometimes with so many other things adding confusion. The two of them enter into a 6-month fake marriage to comply with his father’s demands. The arrogant stubborn jerk she knew may have been easier to ignore. But seeing glimpses of who he really is, his softer side, makes it difficult to resist falling hard for him. And when will she tell him about her little surprise? Will they find their HEA together?

Teaching Him How To Love -
Hazel had a crush on her brother’s best friend, Luke when she was young, but everything changed when she realised as adult, that he was a jerk. Bumping into Luke on the road messed up her day, but finding out she had to work with him, really upset. Unfortunately, the lack of funds in her bank balance helped her agree to work with him.

Luke soon found himself in a trouble with his father and to appease his father, he proposed the idea of entering into a fake marriage with Hazel. Their relationship was meant to be platonic and temporary, but they soon found they couldn’t keep their hands off each other, after spending time and living together. Unfortunately, Luke’s insecurities nearly cost him their forever happiness, as he found it difficult to communicate his feelings when Hazel gave him the their life changing news.

Hazel’s decision to walk away from Luke really shook him to the core, but it took having a frank conversation with his dad, for him to realise he couldn’t live without her and did everything within his power to get her back, so they could get a happily ever after. This awesome story took me on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, but I was totally hooked and couldn’t take a break until I reached the end. It is a definite must read book.

I really enjoyed Luke and Hazel’s story. They first met when her brother Cooper brings him home when she was a teenager. Luke and Cooper were best friends and from the first day Hazel had a crush on Luke. Now several years down the road Hazel and Luke literally run into each other again and they both continue their back-and-forth banter. The surprise comes when her publisher Sarah has landed her the deal to write Luke’s autobiography. Both Luke and Hazel know it’s not a good idea for them to work so closely together but Luke finally agrees because he knows she is good at what she does. Luke is really gun shy of reporters because of something that happened in his past so he Is really reserved with the way he answers the questions that Hazel asks him. What will happen when Luke tells his dad they he and Hazel are getting married. Will she agree to this and how will it all work out?
I loved the banter between Hazel and Luke but most of all I love how she brought out his good tender side. Once they finally gave into temptation you knew they were meant to be😊.

Luke and Hazel have a backstory that stems from the time she was seventeen and Luke was her brother, Connor's. best friend. She had a crush on him and Luke remembers how she blushed every time he touched her when she was young. Older now, how much have they changed and grown?
Luke Dewinter is a total playboy and billionaire heir to the Helius Airlines empire. His reputation isn't good and his stake in the business is at a crossroads. If he doesn't do something to repair his self-inflicted damage, his father will not make him the CEO after he retires. Hazel Dawson is a writer who hasn't had so much as an article printed in awhile, let alone a book. She has a lunch meeting with her agent, Sarah, and she tells Hazel that she got her a job, writing the autobiography of a high profile client who just happens to be Luke. It's actually amusing to hear their inner dialogue and their verbal banter going at the same time. What didn't quite ring true for me was the fact that Hazel kept pushing Luke away, even on their wedding night. I lost patience with her and I began to disconnect with her, too. Overall, it's a good story.

Cheeky title for a book, but an enjoyable storyline. I like both H/H Billionaire Luke Dewinter and Romance author Hazel Dawson. The story moves a little slow, not much sexual encounters. But the couple are very compatible.

Luke wants the title from his father as CEO of Helius Airlines. A family owned airline started by his grandfather. His father Roger Dewinter's has conditions. Luke must clean up his act. His father hires Hazel to write Lukes's autobiography. Before they are aware of this, Luke runs smack into Hazel spelling her cup of coffee all over her. They are both on their way to a meeting. Surprise it is with each other.

Luke asks Hazel to marry him for 6 months. Once he gets the CEO position they can divorce. But of course, there relationship goes sideways, and they fall in love.

The story was good, but the title is a bit off because they don't have a baby until the epilog. But the epilog is very good. So, the baby is not in the main story! Just thrown in at the end.

Hazel is an aspiring writer but to be honest right now she'll take anything to pay the bills. Like many an author she put her heart and soul into a book but it was not what the publishers were looking for leaving her needing to find a way, any way to cover her rent. She's desperate but not so desperate that she'll take on Luke Dewinter as the next client. He needs an autobiography but he is also the best friend of her brother that she never quite got over her crush on. Luke has always felt the pull to Hazel but she was who she was, ie the young sister of his best friend which put her firmly in the "No, nope, cannot ever" category. He's not seen for years and she has only grown more beautiful to his eyes. He takes her refusal as a challenge and manages to convince her to take him on. Suddenly though he has to deal with the repercussions of his actions and tamping down how he still feels about Hazel is not easy. Still he can work with her without it affecting him right.....

Great Romance!

An absolutely great heartwarming touching story about Luke & Hazel. Luke’s fully focused on taking the reins of the family company when his dad retires. Pushed into a corner, he proposes Hazel to become his fake fiancée while she writes his autobiography. Initially rubbing each other the wrong way, she takes a different angle for his cooperation to meet the deadline. With the push & pull between them, they manage to blur the line of pretending & the feelings for each other becomes stronger. This fake marriage vows have a stronger deeper meaning but once the surprising news arises, they struggle on how to deal with it. Making up after their fight & having a romantic sweet HEA makes this romantic story worth reading! The book kept me riveted right to the last page. Loved the loads of sizzle & chemistry between them.

Good Book

This book has Hazel as the younger sister of Cooper and Luke is his best friend.
It’s starts with a disaster of a morning for Hazel as on her way to an important meeting someone knocks in to her and her coffee spills on her jumper then when trying to buy a scarf from a vendor a man knocks in to her spilling everything in the street.
That man is Luke and he is dismissive of her like her has been since she met him, however the meeting she is going to with Sarah her agent is actually a meeting to write Luke’s autobiography.
Luke doesn’t want her but he is on thin ice at his company and has a bad playboy reputation his father wants to quash so he has no choice.
This leads to a fake marriage in order to get the CEO position but as with all fake marriages they fall for each other but Luke doesn’t trust anyone and has a hard time showing his emotions.
Little bit of drama between them but otherwise it’s a nice read and has a few smexy scenes, it was an enjoyable story.

Hazel's writing career needs a boost, and Luke needs a writer for his autobiography. Because she is his best friend's little sister, Luke trusts that she will not stab him in the back, but he struggles to answer her interview questions when they get the least bit personal. Things aren't looking good until it becomes obvious to Luke that they need to get married to save Hazel's professional reputation. They begin to get close, and he manages to let his guard down. Their relationship is super hot but also tender. But both of them have issues that have to be faced in order to form a lasting love.

An enemies to Lover’s love story. I really enjoyed this book. Luke and Hazel have great chemistry and heat. Luke is trying to get his father to promote him to be his successor. They have a tenuous relationship. Luke hires Hazel to write his autobiography - hoping for a fluff piece that will appease the board and improve his reputation. But he can’t resist Hazel’s warm personality and starts to show her the real person he is. The hate to love story, and brothers little sister trope is one of my favourites and this story did not disappoint. Would recommend. Looking forward to more books from Roxy Reid.

This was a 4.5⭐️ read
Loved this brothers best friend, fake marriage romance.
Hazel has always had a crush on her brothers best friend. But his constant antagonistic attitude also had this being a very love/hate kind of crush.
Hazels lack of funds and Luke’s need for a ghost writer have these two working closely, which becomes very close when Luke fakes an engagement to placate his father and hopefully still get his promotion.
Luke and Hazel had amazing chemistry.
This was a sweet romance proving that sometimes even if you don’t want to admit it... love will find a way.

Luke was Hazels brother’s best friend who she had a crush on when she was younger. Hazel is a writer who needs a job and her agent assigned her to write an autobiography on Luke. Begrudgingly he agreed to have the book written so his father would consider him for the CEO position when he retires. After all his dad has been grooming him to take the lead and the last hurdle was the autobiography to make him look good. Little did they know it would end up in a fake marriage to get him where he needs to be. Overall good story.

I received this book as part of an ARC team and voluntarily wrote this review after reading it.

Roxy, you've done it again. This book is funny, passionate and romantic. I really loved the characters of Hazel and Luke. I loved the way Luke grew in the story and finally was able to show his feelings after so many years. His friendship with Cooper is what started it all and am glad they stayed close. This book is great and I'm glad I got to read it before release. I look forward to reading a story based on Sarah or Cooper too.

Luke and Hazel have a love hate relationship that takes a turn when they are out on a work date. When she accidentally drops her phone under the table and bends down to get it, a reporter captures a picture of her retrieving it and takes it out of context. It sets the stage for the upcoming twists and turns that will change their lives. When the drama clears will their fake marriage turn into the real deal for Luke and Hazel without him losing his best friend in the process.

Wonderful storyline of best friends little sister taking on his grumpy attitude. Great characters with heated glances that lead to so much more. Enjoyed how each learned more about the other with just a simple question each day. I liked Hazel’s effervescence in seeing the positive in people and getting them to open up with a kind smile and her gentle nature. Fantastic ending as a fake relationship, opened up the grump to have so much more in his lonely life.

This is so captivating and exceptional. So unexpected. Luke is a complex character, he has everything while Hazel is an aspiring writer. Luke is her brother's best friend and bro code thing couldn't let him fall in love when they first met. When they reunited, it was to help clean Luke's image and that make the book interesting and worth the read. Ms Roxy Reid writes amazing books and I always look forward to anything from her. Great story 👏 👌 👍.

They've known each other for years and with him being her brothers best friend they tolarate each other while both having a sneaky crush. When he asks her to be his fake wife with the stipulation of him answering her questions honestly, love starts to flourish and neither see it until they've already made a new life.

Luke hires Hazel to write his memoir, which is intended to make him come off as likable and responsible.

However, in their first interview together Hazel starts thinking like a journalist about what he's trying to hide from her when he doesn't want to talk about personal questions.

If there's one thing I hate it's nosy journalists who refuse to respect a person's right to privacy.
