For the longest time, I've been putting off reading this book because I just can't get over the grief I felt after book 6 (Gone). The pain was just a little too familiar since I just went through seeing a loved one slowly deteriorate because of a terminal illness. When I finally mustered the courage to read book 7, imagine my surprise when I realized this was a book about marriage -- and I'm a few months away from getting married myself!!! (With God, there are no coincidences, right? :p)
What I really loved about this book was how relatable the characters were. There was nothing gold-plated or pretentious or "over-written" about them. I thought Jordan and Charlotte would be having a perfect relationship, but of course I was wrong. No one is spared from heartache and pain. Neither are Jordan and Charlotte. But as with the other books in the series, Cronk was able to show through her wonderful storytelling how faith in God and wanting to please Him first above all else are what set Christians apart. In the end, they come out wiser and stronger people whose characters are shaped by the struggles they go through. They're not quickly broken. :)
The invaluable lessons I picked up from this book are also something I'll be remembering and keeping close to my heart as I apply them in my own relationship with my soon-to-be husband. Actually, now that I think about it, L.N. Cronk's books are like pastors, counseling me as I go through life's milestones. Reading the book was like going through pre-marital counseling! :)
I'm definitely glad I bought this and have it stored in my cloud. Worth my time and money. Four thumbs up!!!! :)
