SELF! HELP!

Rate this book
'Is it bad that I'm feeling weird about trying to feel good about myself?'

SELF! HELP! is a brand-new comic memoir by artist Worry Lines, featuring thoughts about the Self and how to Help it.

Spanning two books, it contains a charming mix of joy, cynicism, bemusement and hope. It prods at self-hate and self-help with equal curiosity.

Fuelled by climate anxiety, love and potatoes, maybe it will make you feel better about feeling bad? You'll have to see for your Self.

Reflections and lessons learned/the content of this book made me feel…

“Is the self a little version of me, inside my body? (The smaller version pointing up ‘I’m with stupid’)”

Short but sweet drawings that feel relatable on all levels with two really simple themes for reflection to understand - self and help. The blues, reds, greens from the drawings and vivid yellow covers reminding us all to wrap the weirder things in the better things in life. Loving the postcards too. I just love this project and the opportunities to read something different

These are two tiny books in a bundle, one is called SELF! and the other is HELP!, they were only available for a short time through The Pound Project UK, and my understanding is that they only printed the books that were pre-ordered, which is pretty cool.

I’ve followed the author on Instagram for a while now (@worry_ _lines, two underscores) and I like their ideas a lot, it’s all very simple and straightforward. The messages are a mix of a bit of catastrophic thinking (which we all suffer from sometimes), with measured optimism (but never toxic positivity), all wrapped up in humor. It’s great stuff.

Magnificent, clever, intelligent, inspiring, beautiful and brilliant! I thoroughly enjoyed this very close to the mark collection of thoughts that were put down in art. Highly recommend!
