The "Thinking" in Systems Thinking: Seven Essential Skills

From the characteristics of the early systems thinking pioneers, are their clarity and simplicity in writing, as well as smart elaboration of concepts, which have successfully popularized systems thinking. Although their methods are not widespread, but some of the concepts have entered the business and management science terminologies.
Barry Richmond is one of those pioneers who explains clearly seven key skills of a systems thinker; the ones used and improved later by other systems thinking scholars, and became a reference point for other proposed skills. While reading Richmond's elaboration of these skills, one can even find a theoretical framework for assessing them, which could be interesting and useful for the ones interested in teaching these skills. Modeling systems thinking, common methods and theoretical principles are other topics explained very briefly.
Although the focus of this booklet is on business audience - and the examples are clear and simple enough to be understood by wider audience - getting the main idea and thinking about wider applications, such as in policy or strategy development, as well as philosophical/logical foundations of systems thinking can be quite interesting.
یکی از ویژگی های نویسندگان اصلی تفکر سیستمی، شفافیت و روانی در متن و پروراندن هوشمندانه مفاهیم است که به نظرم باعث شده این حوزه محبوبیت زیادی پیدا کند و حتی هنوز گرچه متودهای مورد استفاده در این حوزه فراگیر نیستند، ولی بسیاری از مفاهیم ابداع شده تبدیل به واژگان روزمره بشوند. ریچموند یکی از بهترین نمونه های این طرزفکر است که در این کتابچه هفت مهارت کلیدی را که رویهم رفته تفکر سیستمی را تشکیل میدهند (و مسلما در سیستم پیچیده کل بزرگتر از اجزای آن است) به شکلی واضح توضیح میدهد که بعدها این هفت مهارت، در کار سایرین مورد استفاده و بهبود قرار می گیرند و به نوعی مرجع می شوند. در لابلای شرح و تفصیل هفت مهارت، می توان حتی چارچوبی فکری برای ارزیابی چنین مهارتهایی هم پیدا کرد که شاید برای افرادی که علاقه مند به آموزش چنین مهارتهایی هستند، جالب باشند. ارتباط با مدل سازی برای ارزیابی دقیق تر و اصول نظری و فنی بحث مانند ابزارهای مورد استفاده در تفکر سیستمی هم از مواردی است که گریزهایی به آنها زده شده است
تنها نکته ای که چندان باب طبع من نبود، توجه اصلی به مخاطب از دنیای بیزینس است که البته هدف اصلی این کتابچه ها هم همین بوده و گرچه مثالها ملموس اند، اما پرداختن به این مفاهیم در زمینه زندگی اجتماعی و حتی استفاده های شخصی و ریشه های منطقی و فلسفی شان برای من جذابیت بیشتری دارد
