This is one of the best books I have read. I can’t believe it has just 4 reviews. Let’s make it 5.
This is a collection of very short stories. You can read it quickly. But, you should read it slowly. Very slowly.

I liked his chapter on loneliness and adolescence. It was worded so powerfully.

This is a beautiful, wise, and timeless collection of short essays that touch upon the essence of life. I re-read it yearly, and periodically pick it up during the year for a reflective “fix.”

The preface of this book is beautifully written and is what made me want to read this book. I can't quote this book exactly, but in the preface it says something like "Memory is the sea; what is constant in our lives. It is in memory where we establish the habits of our own beauty or our own ugliness. To love our husbands and wives, to do good work in our communities it is essential that we have memories from our childhoods to sustain us and protect us."

And that's why I read this book...

This book is short stories written by the author about his life. He is Catholic and mentions his faith a time or two but that is not the focus of the book. I very much enjoyed the light reading and his insight into the journey of life.
