Tracing his life from his childhood in Omaha to his presence on stage and his performances in Hollywood, this account includes first-hand anecdotes by Brando's friends, colleagues, wives and lovers
Charles Higham was an author and poet. Higham was a recipient of the Prix des Créateurs of the Académie Française and the Poetry Society of London Prize.
First film I had seen of Marlon Brando's was Streetcar Named Desire all the other films he had made after that like the Godfather I had seen as well but streetcar was the first where I said this guy is ahead of his time. Well after reading this time caught up to Brando. He was an exceptional actor and he ended up being an exceptional pain the ass as well. I admire is passion but I don't admire his ego. There is a difference between and confidence and egotism and he never knew what that difference was. As far as I'm concerned he'll always be a legend but I truly am not as big of a fan as the man as I am the actor.
While providing a wealth of information regarding life details during filming of his various works, this Brando biography appeared to have too much information thrown in, as though the publishing house wanted too many salacious details, at the expense of telling a story, which is more to my liking, and what I believe the author was capable of doing. Unfortunately, this may also be due to Brando's seemingly messy relationships with many in his life. I would have wanted to hear more from directors, film buffs, and interviewers about him.
