If you are looking for a supplement to your first-year honors college chemistry course, then this book is for you. That is to say, you really need to know what you're doing already if you intend to understand this book. I like chemistry, but am still searching for a text that can help me get past the very basics into a level where I completely understand what's going on. This book didn't do it. I will say that there is more to be learned and more is explained in the five or six "problems" at the end of each chapter than in the actual explanatory portion of the chapter.

I'm loathe to buy some sort of "idiot's" or "dummy's" guide to chemistry (reviews report that they're rife with errors, anyway), but this book, although marketed toward "beginners" will make you think you need one.

Also, I don't need to know quantum mechanics by chapter three.

Beautiful and easy to understand the basics of chemistry. I would recommend for reviewers who are about to take an entrance exam.
