This work is part of the Lecture Notes series, which is intended primarily for the undergraduate law degree or common professional examination student. It is also intended to be useful to other students studying law as part of their course. The books provide valuable assistance to those who need clear but thorough treatment of law subjects, incorporating recent developments and proposals for reform as appropriate. The treatment of each subject is precise but comprehensive. The material in the books is presented logically, starting with the basic issues of each topic and moving on to more refined matters. At the end of each chapter, the issues discussed in that chapter, together with relevant cases and statutes, are summarized on one perforated sheet. This enables the reader to file the summary sheet for easy access during subsequent revision. Each book also contains full footnote references and a recommended reading list. This particular work is designed to provide a comprehensible guide to the main principles of contract law. The book is writen with the needs of the LLB student in mind, but it should also be useful to others studying contract law. Topics include promissory estoppel, mistake and case law and statutes.

About the author

Richard Stone is the senior science editor for HHMI Tangled Bank Studios, where he oversees science content for documentaries and other nonfiction productions and manages media partnerships. Prior to joining HHMI Tangled Bank Studios, Stone was the international news editor at Science Magazine, where his writing often featured datelines from challenging reporting environments such as Cuba, Iran and North Korea.

Stone’s experience in international science and education includes stints as a Fulbright Scholar at Rostov State University in Russia in 1995-96 and at Kazakh National University in Kazakhstan in 2004-05. As a science writer, he has contributed to Discover, Smithsonian and National Geographic magazines, and is the author of the nonfiction book “Mammoth: The Resurrection of an Ice Age Giant.” Stone earned a B.S. in genetics from Cornell University, and he did graduate work in biophysics at the University of Pennsylvania and science communication at the University of California, Santa Cruz. In his spare time, he enjoys playing squash and writing science fiction screenplays.
