I liked this book. I would consider it a literary nonfiction. One of it's main purposes is counting, because each page has a particular number of animals 1-20. However, each page also has some great facts about each kind of animal on the page. For example "Cows need grass to make milk." I think this would be a great read for an early childhood classroom.
