The Nursery Treasury

Rate this book
"Emerson's collection of childhood folklore is arranged in a series of baby games, rhymes to teach, story rhymes, and lullabies... While there are many fine 'Mother Goose' collections...the design, arrangement, and thoughtful illustrations make this one an excellent choice."-- School Library Journal , starred review.

This collection includes a set of really engaging, well-written and rhythmic rhymes and chants. Some of the poems featured include fun participatory components that parents/guardians/teachers can do to interact with their little readers and heighten the engagement as they go. The Nursery Treasure includes both well-known classics as well as lesser known gems.

Great poetry book to read with young students or children. I would read these to my own children to advance them in letters and games before entering school. There is a lot going on throughout this book because it has so many elements going on between baby games, rhymes, and lullabies.

I think this is a excellent book for teachers it can give a teacher new ideas about games to play and songs to sing with your class. It also has nursery rhymes to teach children about poetry. The book is very easy to understand and it gives you clear instructions on what you are supposeto do when playing each specfic game and how each song is suppose to be sung. The book also contains some fun counting songs and games to do with children. The age range for this book is four to six year olds.

My favorite Nursery Rhyme book! Wonderful illustrations that are fun and make the nursery rhymes, baby games and lullabies come alive. I read this many many times with all 3 of my children and used it as a supplement to story time for preschool and early elementary students. Always a crowd pleaser. Most everything is interactive in some way which is why everyone loves it.

It's quickly obvious that this book was NOT a favorite at our house, because after having three children, it still looks almost new.
