Elemental Angels #3

Angel's Devotion

Rate this book
A quiet beauty risks it all to save a stranger, except the man she rescues is no man at all, but a fallen angel . . . one who has been admiring her in secret for years.

The last thing Bridget Olsen needs is an unconscious man, bloodied and scarred, draped across her back deck. Aside from her overprotective brother, close proximity to any man usually sends her into a tailspin. But the sight of two solid steel wings jutting from the stranger’s chiseled back gives her pause. Everything in her screams to call the police, but a dangerous curiosity and long-denied temptation outweigh her good sense, and she misguidedly helps him.

For four years, Steel has silently watched over shy Bridget. His daily check-ins—and the reason for them—have been something he’s kept from his warrior brothers. The secret eats at him every day, but it’s one he’ll never share. When the battle against the demon charmers intensifies, one unseen strike blasts him out of the sky and lands him at Bridget’s doorstep—the one place he’d sworn to never go.

An unspoken pull flares bright between them, and undeniable passion ignites their soul bond. When Steel’s enemies return to finish the job they started, he and Bridget must summon the courage to come together and face their pasts before the demons destroy their futures.

Aimee Robinson is a lover of romance novels in all forms. Her absolute favorites, though, are the ones that offer a little bit of something extra: time travel, guardian angels, good old-fashioned meddlesome grandmothers with a supernatural secret to hide, you name it.

She believes romance novels should transport you from the humdrum to the swoon-worthy, preferably while being curled up on the couch with chocolate and tea (or wine...or both!). Aimee’s overactive imagination lends itself to fun tales with emotional adventures, sexy snark, and happily ever afters.

When not writing or reading, Aimee enjoys spending time with her husband and keeping up with her two young sons.

This is book 3 in the Elemental Angels series, but it can be read as a standalone (which I did). The series contains interconnected characters and book 3 does take place after the events in books 1 and 2 but each book in the series focuses on a different relationship pair.
It is not part of kindle unlimited as of the release date (June 6, 2023). The book is a pretty short read at only 290 pages (paperback edition).
I received a digital ARC copy of this book and everything stated is my honest review and opinions.

Bridget hasn't left her house in 4 years... but when a fallen angel lands on her back deck she ignores all her fears and anxiety to help him. Steel fell eons ago, but he's spent the last few years secretly watching over Bridget. Will their secrets keep them apart, or will they be able to save each other?

First Impressions: The book isn't my style of cover because I prefer discreet covers and I don't think the cover fits how I pictured Steel. The blurb is good and is a good synopsis of the book and intriguing to entice readers.

Summary: 4 years ago, Bridget had an incident that has left her with extreme agoraphobia. In fact, in the last 4 years she has only left her house to visit her brothers house or to visit his boyfriend's Taekwondo studio (but only when it's closed). When Steel, a fallen angel, crashes in her backyard, unconscious and injured with large metal wings protruding from his shoulders, Bridget's curiosity about this stranger outweighs her anxiety. While Bridget may be meeting Steel for the first time, he's already known about her and he has been keeping her a secret from his 6 brothers.

Genre: This is a paranormal romance (PNR) with fallen angels. The last 2 books I read were in a series about fallen angels as well. This specific subgenre is very new to me and I think I may be hooked. I was so excited to read another fallen angel story and this book did not disappoint. I need to go back and read the first 2 books in this series and I look forward to reading the rest of the series as well.

Tropes:
-Soulmates
-Fated mates
-Forced proximity
-Fallen angels
-Found family
-Protective hero
-He falls first

Spice level: The book is NOT fade to black but I also did not find it very spicy or explicit for my tastes. The "spicy" scenes were well written and enjoyable.

Characters: The main characters of the book are Bridget and Steel. Both characters have their secrets and motives for their actions. While I may be annoyed at their actions sometimes, they are believable and make for a good plot line. This book is a dual POV written in 3rd person. Normally this style really isn't my favorite (I prefer 1st person) but Robinson did really good with the details and the characters thoughts in 3rd person. She also does an excellent job at knowing the perfect moments to switch between Bridget's and Steel's POVs. Overall this book exceeded my expectations for a 3rd person dual POV romance.

Representation: 🏳️‍🌈 This is some LGBTQ+ representation with side characters. 🏳️‍🌈

Plot and theme - The book is a romance between the 2 main characters and there is good conflict, romance, and resolution between them. Their romantic story closes nicely at the end of the book, but that's not all there is. This books also ties into conflict that starts in the previous books of the series and I can assume this will continue through the next books in the series. It is a very good way of keeping the series connected even if each book focuses on different main characters. If you are reading only for romance, this can be read as a standalone or before the previous books in the series but if you would like to read all the romances in chronological order and also have more plot then you should start with book 1.
I was able to finish the entire book within 24 hours which is always a positive sign to me that the story was addicting. While fallen angels may be new to me, the plot did feel unique with the "typical" romance you would expect in a book like this.

Pacing: The romance is fast paced in time passed for the characters, but slightly slow burn as things don't pick up until a good ways into the book. The plot is very well paced throughout the entire book. Robinson has mastered the timing of building a romance, conflict, and resolution.

Something I feel is important to mention, especially with indie authors' books is that there are little to no errors throughout the book. Honestly, with the amount of books I've read, especially recently, with lots of grammatical errors, it is such a relief when I get to read a well edited book.

I would definitely recommend this book to other readers who like fantasy romance, paranormal romance, or who know they like or would want to read books with fallen angels. Angel's Devotion left me with lots of warm and fuzzy romance feelings and my heart happy, while also wanting to know more about the other characters and wanting to jump into reading more of the series.

This is a different PNR reading from what I'm accustomed to, but the concept is thrilling. I have the previous two books on my TBR that I WILL DEFINITELY be reading.

This story and the idea of soul bonds between angels and humans is intriguing. I loved the fact that the fmc is a gaming nerd who coaxed out of her own "shell". I also loved the colorful language used by the celestial beings, making them more relatable and human as opposed to something "higher" or more "refined".

I like my books with more spice and a little faster burn than this but the story is good. I'm interested in the whole series and will be reading it in it's entirety.

An entertaining read

This is an entertaining read even if there is some stalker-type behavior. Recommended for fans of the genre and the series.

A chance encounter four years ago stealthily brings Steel into Bridget’s world. The suspense of the ongoing story between the sentinels, charmers, mystics and alphas continues to evolve. I enjoyed watching this couple figure out their way, particularly within the context of Bridget’s situation. With lots of action, suspense and a HFN, I’m already looking forward to the next story in the series.

I received an ARC and am voluntarily sharing my honest review.

4.25 stars! This is such an interesting series with unique characters. These elemental angels, each tied to a metal element, fallen angels of a sort, each in turn finding their soul mates. For this story we have Steel and Bridget. But this one is a bit different than what we’ve seen so far. Steel has been watching Bridget from afar for years. A chance encounter on probably the worst day of her life, an encounter she doesn’t remember, but he’ll never forget, and his need to make sure she is ok. But when the demons that they are battling bring their danger into her backyard, Steel inadvertently reveals himself to her, Angel wings an all, and both of their worlds are upended.

This one deals a lot with the trauma that Bridget experienced that then thrust her into a self imposed agoraphobic life, with very little outside interaction beyond her police officer brother and his parter, and the remote work she does for her graphic design/marketing company. But the fantastic nature of Steel’s arrival in her live jolts something awake in her. She’s surprisingly not as shocked to realize he’s an actual angel, and there are reasons for that, and as Steel gets to know her better, he realizes there is more to their connection than he ever realized. I love how their story progresses, as he tries to help her emerge from this bubble she’s built around herself, but he’s patient and slow with her. And while we eventually get the rest of the elemental angels pulled into the story, this is largely a very intimate, close story of Steel and Bridget, because of the way she lives. But as with the rest of the series, there is a solid romantic suspense aspect, and the action most definitely kicks things up a notch when it hits. And the slow burn, tension filled romance? It’s so good. I love the magic and world building of this series, as it is quite unique and very engrossing, and I’m enjoying these standalone love stories while we get the overarching plot that is driving these fallen angels in their quest to make their way back to their home. This was a great installment in the series, and I’m looking forward to more!
