John Calder's poems are the fruits of thought and observation, the original impulse usually leading to a general conclusion about life or destiny. Some are impressionistic epiphanies or insights, others playful nonsence poems, many reflections on the state of man and of himself. They range from the lyrical to the anecdotal and conversational.
