I am always an big New York Yankees fan. Excellent book on New York Yankees. This book have lots of memories because of the people who grew up watching and attending Yankees games there especially in Connecticut and New York Metropolitan area in 20th Century. My brother Jacob found this and got this book from Willington, CT Public Library as the library book. Book is Very Recommend for New York Yankees Fans and baseball lovers.
4.05 stars -- Pretty much a very good book a Yankee fan can read, like I just did!
I'm pretty much a New York Yankee Fan, yet I'm only a young adult. I became a fan from my dad any my oldest brother who are both Yankee fans. This book has some of the stories from those fans but some come from "long memories" by some of the same fans who wrote their stories. Some of those stories come from the memories of the Mickey Mantle era and some from the later years.
I know some of the ratings from this book have some bit of negative, but pretty much, it's a good book that only the Yankee fans would read. I'd love to recommend this book to my oldest brother and all the other Yankee fans too. It's really a good baseball book. Go Yankees!!!
I'm not the Yankee fan I used to be, but this did hit home with a lot of memories from tidbits that fans have chipped in. And that's all it is, which I enjoyed.
I had high hopes for this book, primarily because it is an interesting concept (Yankee fans relating their Yankee stories). Unfortunately, the concept was poorly executed. To the extent the submissions were edited, they were not edited well. The stories often seem cut short and are often poorly written. This is to be expected since the authors aren't writers, but it is unforgivable for the editor/"author" (Rich Wolfe) to let these stories stand as submitted. I have the second volume of this series, but will not be reading it. In my mind it seems that Wolfe simply saw an easy way to make a few bucks, and used it. Twice.
Honestly, it should have just been called "Chicken Soup for the New York Yankees Fans' Soul". I also found the stories to be extremely repetitive. I was almost forcing myself to finish the book.
