I found this book when my dear friend went into assisted living, and could no longer keep all her treasured books. She had been a teacher for many years in the US and Europe, so her collection has many jewels, and this story about a blind jacdaw (black bird) is wonderful. It's a true story about the authors' rescue of this scruffy-on-deaths- door black bird and how she helped him learn to survive inspite of his blindness. A book for all ages, bird lovers, and those in animal rescue. I did have to overlook the way she thought about dogs and those of us who love them, not very flattering, but this is still a great story.
