Me and my hot ex-husband. Alone. In a cabin in the woods. With one tiny bed.
Once upon a time, Davis Westbrook was my small town fairytale. We fell in love at 16. Married at 21. High school sweethearts destined for forever.
Then in one cruel moment, fate stormed in, knocked over our white picket fence and stole our happy ever after.
Davis and I moved on with separate lives. I run the local veterinary clinic. He is Honey Hill’s hot-as-hell chief deputy sheriff. And we’re nothing but cordial exes, ‘politely keeping our distance’ around town.
But four years later, fate is laughing at us again.
My best friend is marrying Davis’s brother. Which means, I’m the maid of honor. And my ex-husband is the best man.
No biggie. We can handle this. We’re pros at the whole ‘keeping our distance’ thing. Right?
Not so fast.
We get caught in a violent rainstorm on the way to the destination wedding. Now, instead of ‘politely keeping our distance’ at the wedding venue, we’re stuck in a tiny cabin in the woods.
With one tiny bed.
As if that isn’t awkward enough, we have to pretend to be a happily married couple just to keep the roof over our heads.
Dammit. Fate is pulling strings again.
I was sure the spark between us would be gone by now. Oh, I was so very wrong.
The minute our lips touch, our souls are on fire and we’re drowning in the flames. Turns out—this thing between us isn’t just a spark. It’s a freaking wildfire.
And when our secret comes out...it’s going to burn our hometown to the ground.
The Wild Fire is a steamy, laugh-out-loud, small town second chance romance. It is set in small town Iowa and is book four in the Wild Westbrooks series. No cheating. HEA guaranteed.
DNF at 56%. I hate the I’m not good enough for you and I love you too much so I have to let you go crap. It’s cowardice. Davis deserves better than Alana. Then she sleeps with him to give him mixed signals, all in the guise of still living him but she’s so selfless because she’s gotta let him go. I got bored just reading all the justification Alana kept throwing out on why she divorced Davis. Too repetitive. Just get on with the story.

I really hate when someone loves someone but leaves them so they can find somebody better. She isn't worthy, blah blah, blah. Its cringe worthy really. Then for four years they still pine for one another because she made a stupid decision. I really DoD like the hero but the heroine was kind if meh. I just didn't understand her reasoning. Now they are going to a wedding for his brother and her friend and they are forced to be together. The sex part was very detailed and I passed over most of it. It was very steamy so those that like that will be happy. He has a girlfriend, or at least everyone thinks he does, and Is keeping secrets. Not bad ones but he can't tell anyone because of an NDA so you don't know what is going on. It really was a good story. Their love never died, and both of them were celibate during those four years. If she hadn't been such a moron they would still be together. So I took away one star due to that. But its well written. I think this is my first read by this author and I really liked that it wasn't the same old story everyone else does with the ex-husband becomes a bed hopping porn star and she sits at home mourning his loss because she was an idiot. I will read her again as long as her other books are safe for me.
Ok this book had me until about the 60% mark. I love a second chance romance, and this one was striking the perfect balance between longing and hope. With a dash of pining. And then it went completely off the rails.
I swear all these authors are reading the same “how to write a romance” books because they are all leaning in to absolutely outlandish villains. It’s ridiculous.
Also let’s ban the term “tunnel” when used for the female anatomy. Channel is bad enough yet tunnel is somehow worse.
From the previous books in this series, I always wondered what caused Davis and Alana to divorce, especially since they still cared about each other. When they run into a little hiccup on the way to a wedding, the chemistry explodes between them. They admit that they still love each other but Alana will not be honest about why she walked away. When the truth finally comes out, it's a travesty what happened to her. I like how it ended and now I can't wait to read Mason's story.
this was so good! everyone needs to go read this right now. i don't even like second chance romances but this is the exception. the only reason i'm not giving it 5 stars is because alana's lack of communication was infuriating. that trope usually ruins the whole book for me, but i enjoyed this book so much it only bothered me a little which says a lot about how good it is tbh
Davis and Alana starting dating when they were 16 got married at 21 and then Alana left Davis and they got divorced. Four years later their lives are interconnected they have the same friends, but their interactions have been limited. Alana’s best friend is marrying Cash who is Davis brother and they are going to Cresent Harbor to get married. There is a huge storm and Davis and Alana end up together and stuck in a one room one bed cabin. The attraction and love is still very much alive, but they keep fighting it until they can’t anymore. Can they stay together or will they just keep fighting it ? Great characters and storyline Highly recommended Amazing book. Love Davis and Alana the supporting characters are amazing. The storyline has some twists and the spice is nice. Love the sarcasm and Easter eggs
This was second chance perfection. Second chance stories can be so hard. Sometimes when the issue that causes a break up is so horrible, it’s hard to believe someone could ever forgive it. Authors also frequently write the guy as sleeping with every single person in the world during the time they are apart. I cannot fathom why so many authors think that is something a woman wants to see. I’m so over it.
But this story, this story hit the sweet spot. Alana and Davis grew up together, and were childhood sweethearts. They married young and were each other’s soulmates and first everything. Alana was from a “wrong side of the tracks” family, and it’s her family baggage that ultimately causes her to leave Davis unexpectedly and without explanation. Four years later, the wedding between her bff and his brother forces them into close proximity. Super close. Like a one room cabin with only one bed, close. Neither one has moved on. Remarkably, in their four years apart, neither one has been with anyone else either. How swoony is that!? And swoony Davis still wears his wedding ring on a chain around his neck ❤️
We learn in bits and pieces what caused Alana to call it quits. And oh my heart. These two clearly love each other, and are clearly meant to be. I loved watching them struggle through all their emotions and how to navigate where they are and where they want to be. Their love was never the issue. These two are 🔥🔥 together. Smoking hot. And I love the relationships all around them as well. I love that even when they split up, she didn’t lose her connection to those people. Seriously, read this book. It’s a great ride.
First off, let me start by saying that when I read the other books in this series I was DYING to read Davis and Alana’s story.
I was not disappointed.
We have Alana, a girl with a troubled family and never feeling worthy of love due to her upbringing. The local town veterinary.
Davis is the golden boy who grew up to be chief deputy sheriff in town. His family is everything to him.
They met at sixteen, married at twenty one, divorced at twenty seven and rekindled at 31.
Was this book full of miscommunication? YES. And while normally I hate that, I usually am more accepting of it in second chance tropes, after all we do need a story. But this one was a little different. While Davis was left in the dark, and I was hurting for him.. Alana was facing circumstances and at the time truly believed she was protecting him.
They get stuck while traveling to his brothers wedding, end up having to pretend to still be married to eachother, ONE BED, and they hook up and try to find closure while they’re there.
Overall this story was full of angst and for some reason I’m in an angsty mood recently so I read this at the right time!❤️
Loved this whole series!!
Tropes: small town; second chance; one bed; forced proximity; fake dating(sorta) Rating: 4.5/5⭐️ Spice: 2.5/5🌶️
Where do I even begin? The Wild Fire was this angsty, second chance romance with so much steam, it almost lit me on fire! Haha Davis Westbrook’s story is quite the bumpy ride. He’s the towns deputy chief sheriff, divorced for four years, however never really got closure. Needless to say when hes stranded due to bad weather, trying to get to his brothers wedding, with his ex wife no less, lets just say these two need to talk it out or whatever they need to do. Alana is hiding, keeping the truth as to why she left him close to her chest. Honestly I wondered what on earth could be so bad that Davis wouldn’t support her? He’s this caring, wonderful man with a heart of gold and would do anything for those he loves, his family notwithstanding. Growing up the way she did, Alana’ self worth is lacking. But who could blame her, considering how her mother treats her, I wanted to slap that woman, she was abominable. These two butt heads more often than not but will love win over, or are they just not meant to be? Read it for yourself to find out. I really loved this book. Love the way the Westbrooks all are supportive to each other and their extended families too. Loved it!
Wow, just wow! If we could just clone Davis, the world would be a better place. He supported Alana when she was rising from her sad childhood upbringing. The two were soulmates from the time they were teens. They were both willing to sacrifice everything for the other. Life took a turn, Like a roller coaster, and they finally got what they both wanted. Love, love, love this family. Hope there will be second generation stories. Just one note Cassie-Ann Whoever proofread this book should be let go. There were so many errors. It was totally distracting. It even went as far as the town being called starlight Falls in some parts of the book and then starlight Springs was thrown in. It’s like the proof reader didn’t know what the name of the town was. There were many misspellings, extra words that didn’t belong in the sentence and many other errors. This is supposed to be a professional book. This did not look like that. The previous three books in the series had a few mistakes, but nothing as bad as this. The people who purchase this book deserve better!
I have wanted Davis and Alana's story since the first Wild Westbrook story, and it's finally here! I wasn't disappointed, but I was way annoyed with Alana! I'm not a big fan of the miscommunication trope, and Davis and Alana had a HUGE miscommunication problem. Well, it was mostly Alana. She seriously lacked self esteem and preservation skills. Totally blowing Davis off. A lot could have been fixed if she's just talked to Davis.
Traveling for Cash and Meghan's wedding, Davis and Alana get stuck in a quirky little town when a storm hits. And pretending to be married for the sake of the people who gave them shelter proves too much for them and they give in to their passions. A lot. In various ways. Dang, Davis has a dirty mouth I didn't expect haha But when it's back to reality, what happens?
At any rate, I love this series, this town, this family, these characters. I'm crossing my fingers that Nicky will get her story after Mason!
I’m a sucker for second chance romances. But this one was just too much angst for me.
Davis was just miserable. But Alana drove me batty. It was a constant “I love him but can’t have him boo boo” fest with her. Then she’d get close or they’d share a moment and her response was “we don’t have to talk about it”. She kept saying she ended things with Davis to protect him. But that was garbage. She thought his future was better without her, but she didn’t for one minute stop and think about how he’d feel without her. She kept projecting that he’d be fine and move on. She emoted for him hard. And she took away his choice. It’s no wonder Davis was miserable.
The ending was good. I just had a hard time getting there with Alana. All her moping and angst was entirely self inflicted! She could have trusted her partner. Her supposed best friend. But she didn’t and instead brought them both so much pain and agony.
I love these WestbrookS! Davis is the one who had it all, married his highschool sweetheart, deputy sheriff with political aspiration everything was going his way until, Alana divorced him 4 years ago. He has been miserable, having insomnia and going through the motions of his life. Alana divorced the love of her life and plowed through life, with no passion. The opportunity for these two to clear their past came when Davis saved her while she was driving to Cash Westbrook and her best friend Meghan's wedding. They end up in this crazy town in a cabin owned by her friend Ziggy's aunt and uncle deep in the woods. Their sizzling attraction and magnetic chemistry will heat up the pages of their story. Entertaining, heartbreaking, heartwarming story that will make you laugh, cry and scream at these two stubborn troubled souls, so full of love for each other!
There should be a content warning for books that are solely about self-sacrificing BS and zero communication. I loved the rest of the books in this series but almost DNF this one. The first 80% is ‘I love him but we can’t be together and I will lead him on and break his heart repeatedly without telling him why’. Rinse and repeat for 350 pages. I rolled my eyes hard at her and really started disliking Alana. I forced myself to keep going because I didn’t want to end on a bad note and knew eventually they would figure their crap out but it just took way too long to do that in my opinion. I loved the other books so I’m not going hold it against the author, everyone has a rough one now and then but this just didn’t work for me and I wish I hadn’t started it.
Alana and Davis were sweethearts and thought they would be together forever until Alana made a choice and turned their world upside down. Four years later the feelings are still there, the spark and chemistry is hot off the chart, but Alana’s past is still haunting her, the feeling she doesn’t deserve Davis and he should be with someone better than her.
With family and friends getting married it’s bringing up memories and feelings for both of them and when they are stranded together the close proximity makes it harder to stay away. Will these two figure out a way back to each other or will Allie let her past depict her future and lose Davis forever? Amazing read!!
Brava Cassie-Ann L. Miller for writing such a wildly different Wild Westbrooks book! This fourth book in the series is the best of the bunch, so far. And that says a lot because they’re all beautiful books.
Oh, and this is the dirtiest of the bunch too!
Tracing their lives from their breakup to the present and back to love is quite the genius. Thank you so much for such a wonderful job of writing two people who are made for each other, finding their way back together.
Definitely read this book, but do yourself a favour and start at the series beginning, because these two are in every book.
Just the perfect escape everyone needs from every day life!!
Whenever I read a Cassie-Ann L. Miller book, I find myself wanting to read it slowly to savor it, but also hurry to finish it because it’s just so fantastic. This is definitely one of her best books I’ve had the pleasure of reading. Definitely say my favourite one to date. I tried to force myself to put it down as I need sleep but just couldn’t as I knew I had to finish it as I knew it would play on my mind till I did. I’m still getting over the book hangover now. You have to read this one and any book by this very talented and wonderful author. Her books always hit the mark and are just the perfect escape everyone needs from every day life. Happy reading everyone
Finally we get the story of what happened between Davis and Alana. After reading the first book in the Wild Westbrooks series, I was dying to know more about these two. I have to say, at first the story was a little slow. Having already known about these characters, I wanted all of the details right away! My heart was aching and bursting for these two during this whole book. It is definitely a good second chance romance book that will leave you with all the feels.
Davis and Alana's story really does it all. From smiles to tears and from heat to heartache, this couple gives your heart and emotions a workout. These two had me very much up in my feels and to be honest there were times when I wasn't sure if I wanted to hug them or shake them. Still, I found myself powerfully moved as this couple got a much needed second chance at a HEA. This is my freely posted, frank review.
Squeaking up to 3 stars I really like the Westbrook series. The family. Grammy. All the side characters. What I don’t like. Most of the s3x was gratuitous. Far too much and repetitive. I like second chance romance. Hate the “I’m not good enough; you deserve better” nonsense. Will they, won’t they? You could get whiplash from Alana’s twists and turns. Davis is a straight up guy. Alana is a hot mess. And not in the best way. I think he deserved better.

This book was ok. Had some spicy scenes in the middle. I didn't love the story. I really wanted to, but I found myself skimming just to get it over with. I wanted to get to the end, but it was a struggle. They weren't together, then forces together, then apart because they were both stupid, then the scandal then the last 2% of the book everything was right for them and everyone else in their world. Just wasn't enough of anything I liked.
This was so good! Some of the storyline mimics the movie “Instant Family” - watching that and reading the ending together had me in tears. Just so good! I can see parallels between Alana and Lizzie (the younger siblings didn’t have much in common), and I felt like reading the last few chapters after watching the movie gave me Lizzie’s (And Charlie’s) happily ever after story in Alana and Davis. 💕😍 It just made my heart happy!
It’s okay, the spicy scene are indeed spicy. You get to see the characters from the other books. But the plot is lacking, the back and forward and “no I don’t deserve him” is just not great. I have a hard time believing that after 10years together she reacted like that… and believe me my suspension of disbelief is top notch. Could have been half the length and been more impactful.
I was really looking forward to this story. Unfortunately, I just spent most of my time being annoyed. Alana. Girl, please. Davis. Really? You just let her not answer to why she wanted the divorce when your were apparently extremely happily married? You catch sister shoplifting and take the blame instead of offering to buy the merchandise? It’s not even shoplifting until they go past register and out the front door. Ugh. Oh well. HEA
I really enjoy the Westbrooks. They brotherhood and family connections are sweet. Especially to see the way the boys live on their Grammy. As most second chance stories go, the reasons for the break up are drug our way longer than necessary. That’s my only criticism. Too much internal dialog about how ridiculous the situation really is/isn’t. But Davis and Allie are great. I loved reading how they loved each other.
I loved Davis and Alana's story. I can't quite put my finger on it but it was just distinctly different from the other Westbrooks stories. Yes, they were married previously unlike all the other couples, but there was just something so raw and deep about this story. While I loved it, I do think it could have been shortened just a bit--there were a few times when a chapter felt purely filler. Other than that, so good!
The Wild Fire is another fast, addictive read, and the more time I spend in this series, the quicker the stories seem to fly by (which is a good thing). This installment leans hard into second-chance romance, emotional baggage, and the messy, complicated kind of love that doesn’t ever really go away.
Davis and Alana’s story is packed with tension from the very beginning. Four years of separation, unresolved hurt, and unspoken truths hang over every interaction they have. Their reunion feels natural and awkward in the best way, full of nostalgia and the kind of chemistry that never really dies no matter how long people stay apart. The forced-proximity road-trip storyline adds a great sense of intimacy, and the stranded-together scenes are some of the most engaging in the book.
What stood out most was the emotional depth behind Alana’s choices. Her sacrifices, fear of damaging Davis’s future, and the secret she carries give real weight to their story. There’s a nice mix of humor, drama, and steam, though some of the intimate scenes felt a little over-the-top and occasionally distracting from the emotional stakes. Still, the push and pull between them kept the pages turning.
By the end, the payoff is satisfying. Seeing the truth finally come out, Davis choosing love over pride, and the town rallying around them made the conclusion feel earned. It wraps up not just their relationship but the larger family and political threads in a neat, hopeful way.
Overall, The Wild Fire is dramatic, emotional, and binge-worthy; a strong entry in the series that makes good use of second-chance romance and found-family themes. It’s messy, heartfelt, and hard to put down.
Alana and David divorced and showed up in all the Westbrook brothers stories always sad...well now they get a second chance at making their love last!!! Their past had sad moments and their future is uncertain....But those nights in the cabin are hot!!!!
Davis and Alana get their second chance!!!! Finally!
I'm so excited that Davis and Alana get back together! I kinda of was blown away by the reason the split in the first place. But speaking from experience I know all about family drama and having a crazy past. Their story was a long time coming! Its definitely a must read❣💝
And I thought this book would never be as swoon-worthy. BOY WAS I WRONG! I laughed, I cried (a lot) and even though I knew there would be a happy ending, it took me through the paces. I don’t know how the next book will ever compare to this one, but I can’t wait to read it!
