After his father left them when Stephen was two, he and his older brother, David, were raised by his mother. Parts of his childhood were spent in Fort Wayne, Indiana, where his father's family was at the time, and in Stratford, Connecticut. When Stephen was eleven, his mother brought her children back to Durham, Maine, for good. Her parents, Guy and Nellie Pillsbury, had become incapacitated with old age, and Ruth King was persuaded by her sisters to take over the physical care of them. Other family members provided a small house in Durham and financial support. After Stephen's grandparents passed away, Mrs. King found work in the kitchens of Pineland, a nearby residential facility for the mentally challenged.
Stephen attended the grammar school in Durham and Lisbon Falls High School, graduating in 1966. From his sophomore year at the University of Maine at Orono, he wrote a weekly column for the school newspaper, THE MAINE CAMPUS. He was also active in student politics, serving as a member of the Student Senate. He came to support the anti-war movement on the Orono campus, arriving at his stance from a conservative view that the war in Vietnam was unconstitutional. He graduated in 1970, with a B.A. in English and qualified to teach on the high school level. A draft board examination immediately post-graduation found him 4-F on grounds of high blood pressure, limited vision, flat feet, and punctured eardrums.
He met Tabitha Spruce in the stacks of the Fogler Library at the University, where they both worked as students; they married in January of 1971. As Stephen was unable to find placement as a teacher immediately, the Kings lived on his earnings as a laborer at an industrial laundry, and her student loan and savings, with an occasional boost from a short story sale to men's magazines.
Stephen made his first professional short story sale ("The Glass Floor") to Startling Mystery Stories in 1967. Throughout the early years of his marriage, he continued to sell stories to men's magazines. Many were gathered into the Night Shift collection or appeared in other anthologies.
In the fall of 1971, Stephen began teaching English at Hampden Academy, the public high school in Hampden, Maine. Writing in the evenings and on the weekends, he continued to produce short stories and to work on novels.

Terminer Ça dans son intégralité est une expérience littéraire bouleversante. Ce troisième tome vient clore magistralement une histoire intense, angoissante et profondément humaine. Stephen King démontre une fois de plus son talent inégalé pour l’horreur et la fantaisie, construisant un récit où chaque détail a son importance et où chaque émotion est parfaitement dosée.
L’un des points les plus impressionnants reste la fluidité avec laquelle l’auteur nous fait naviguer entre différentes temporalités et histoires. Tout s’enchaîne naturellement, sans jamais perdre le lecteur, rendant l’immersion totale. Ce qui marque profondément, au-delà des éléments horrifiques, c’est la force des liens entre les personnages. Leur amitié est d’une intensité rare, contrastant avec l’angoisse omniprésente et renforçant l’impact émotionnel du roman. On rit, on pleure, on frissonne avec eux. Peu à peu, on s’attache à chacun, même à ceux qui pouvaient sembler moins marquants au début.
L’intensité dramatique du récit est indéniable, et une fois la dernière page tournée, on se sent à la fois vide et submergé par un flot d’émotions. Stephen King ne se contente pas d’écrire une histoire d’horreur : il crée une véritable épopée où la peur, l’angoisse et l’amitié se mélangent à la perfection. Son écriture est immersive, chaque scène est si bien décrite qu’on pourrait croire qu’il a lui-même inventé le genre de l’horreur tant il en maîtrise les codes.
Le seul point qui pourrait déranger certains lecteurs est la façon dont l’auteur traite certains passages, notamment la sexualisation des enfants. Bien que cela ne m’ait pas personnellement freiné, je comprends que cela puisse être un élément sensible. Cependant, cela ne vient pas ternir la grandeur de ce récit magistral.
Au final, impossible de ne pas attribuer à ce livre une note exceptionnelle, tant il dépasse toutes les attentes. Ça est une œuvre qui vous habite bien après l’avoir refermée, et qui donne envie de plonger encore plus profondément dans l’univers de Stephen King. Un incontournable, un chef-d’œuvre. 6/5.

C’est un livre très bizarre, l’œuvre dans sa globalité est très bizarre. C’est écrit d’une façon qui n’a ni queue ni tête. Les passages s’entremêlent, entre flash-back de 1958 à la narration de 1985, il y a des passages où il faut être très accroché parce que ça parle quand même d’infanticide et de meurtre sur animaux.
Concernant la fin et l’affrontement final avec ça, sa forme finale est une araignée géante ? (je trouve ça ridicule et ça n’a aucun sens) mais ça donne un poids dans le fait de rajouter un peu de peur car la arachnophobie est très répandue.
J’ai pas compris pourquoi les enfants se sont mis a coucher ensemble dans les tuyaux? 🧐
Enfin bon c’était une expérience et je suis très content d’avoir lu les trois tomes. Par contre je ne pense pas lire un autre livre de Stephen King vu comment c’est écrit

Un chef d'oeuvre, quasi intemporel. Une véritable Saga, car il n'y a pas une histoire, mais une multitude de petites, qui forment un grand tout.
L'horreur est présente, mais en fait, le clown n'est pas forcément le pire. L'homme est souvent bien pire, même s'il est parfois manipulé par l'être cauchemardesque.
Bon, c'est à lire, tout simplement.

Une bonne conclusion à cette histoire malgré tout un peu longue. Je m'attendais à plus d'horreur et moins de métaphysique, mais je ne suis pas déçue, d'autant plus que le livre ne tombe pas dans le gore à outrance et développe une belle réflexion sur l'enfance qu'on laisse s'échapper ou non en devenant adulte

Les derniers souvenirs refont surface et toutes les forces de Ça se rassemblent à Derry. Les membres du club des Ratés sont bien décidés à mettre fin à l'horreur une fois pour toutes. Et à refaire face à Ça dans sa forme originelle. Le rituel du Chüd peut commencer. Ça est prêt.
Du Stephen King tout craché, la fin du troisième tome déménage. Impossible de s'arrêter (même si certaines parties paraissent un peu longues). Impossible de ne pas aimer.
