I’m an angel barred from Heaven, and so who else but the Devil would take me in?
Through no fault of my own, let’s just say I’ve been away for a while. But when my return to the Pearly Gates is blocked by a fiery, destructive power that shoots from my fingertips, I can tell you, no one is less surprised than me that the angels do not play nice.
That’s when Lucifer steps in.
At first, I think he’s on my side. But soon, I realize he’s holding secrets, and he doesn’t care enough about me to let me into the Brains Trust and share them. In fact, he enlists his two most trusted men to guard me and keep me locked in his castle so my power doesn’t destroy Hell—a trickster demon called Tobias, and a jaguar shifter named Logan.
Now, all three of them are calling up feelings I’d long since locked away. When it’s revealed that the blue cords connecting us mean they’re my soulmates, it's yet another problem added to the pile of crap my life has become. Only, I can't solve this problem with fire.
Should I let myself fall for the men guarding me against my will? Sure, they’re kind to me and give me everything I could want, but they're still the ones holding the key.
They're captivating, but I don't want to be a captive.
I don’t know the answers, but I’m beginning to think my romantic problems are the least of our concerns, because there’s this voice in the castle that only I can hear.
And it’s screaming.
This is a SEQUEL TRILOGY to Hell's Fire Burning (book one, Hellcat Escaping) with a new heroine and a new harem. You can read it on its own and it will make sense, but there are spoilers for the first trilogy's cliffhangers from the FIRST PAGE. So make your choice now.
Hellion Chained is intended for mature readers, 18+, and contains multiple love interests, graphic intimacy, graphic violence, past parental neglect, and strong themes of drug addiction. Read responsibly.
Jade Bones is a paranormal romance and reverse harem author who loves writing about tempting, swoon-worthy supernatural men and the (equally swoon-worthy) women who steal their hearts. More than just the romance, Jade especially loves to create worlds that mix together gritty urban aesthetics with surreal, dream-like magic.
When she isn't writing, you can find her drinking tea, cuddling her dog, or taking tarot far too seriously.
"Hellion Chained" is the start of the "Hell's Fire Reborn" series, a spin-off series of the "Hell's Fire Burning" series. It isn't necessary to have read the burning-series before starting this one, but it will give away some of the twists and turns I loved so much in that series. So if I may make a suggestion, I do recommend reading "Hell's Fire Burning" series first, if you haven't done that before. You'll fall in love with Lucifer just as much as I did, but you won't have to wait as long to be able to start his series!
Well, Hellion Chained isn't exactly the start of Lucifer's series, but more the start of Helena's. She's an angel kept hostage in hell for years, and denied access to heaven the moment she's finally free. As a result, her freedom is short-lived, something she isn't going to accept as easily as Lucifer would want her to... I really love her spirit, and when her past is slowly unraveled it is clear she's not what we might expect from an angel. With every new layer that is slowly peeled off, her character shows through more and more, and I was pleasantly surprised by some of the revelations that came my way.
Even though I've read plenty of series with demons and hell in the past, I was absolutely not prepared for the worldbuilding in this one. I'm not even sure I can find the right words to describe how impressed I am by it. It's original, complex, and written in a way I could practically see it all before my eyes while reading. There is so much to explore, and I'm pretty sure I still missed some details that would take a reread to find them all.
The men that Helena is bound to still hold a lot of mysteries close to their chests, and I can't wait to unravel them in the next part of this series. I wouldn't classify this book as slow burn, because there is still plenty of spice in the second half, but the real emotions are slower to develop compared to feelings of the body ;-).
I read very specific kinds of books, mostly reverse harem, and my all time favorite paranormal setting is hell. I love it even more when the devil is involved. It’s quite literally my bread and butter. So I was extremely excited to read this book, because it has everything I always look for.
We go on quite a journey through this book, and I was captivated from start to finish. I especially enjoyed the main character, and am excited to follow her journey in the next installment.
As I already mentioned, I LOVE romances involving the devil. So I enjoyed his complicated and complex character. I also really liked the other two men, who were equally as complicated in different ways. I don’t like insta love or easy romances, I want grit and pining, and this book definitely gave me that.
The spice-o-meter is 🌶️🌶️/5. I read some crazy RH spice, so the spice in this book compared to what I usually read in the RH genre wasn’t anything too crazy. It was still enjoyable to read though. I do expect for the spice to probably increase as the series continues.
Now this is a spin off series, you don’t have to read the first series prior to reading this but it would probably help. When I started reading this series I had only finished the first book of the first series. I wasn’t too confused, but it does pretty much spoil the ending of the first series when you start this one, so keep that in mind.
Overall, a solid read. Would recommend this to anyone who enjoys paranormal reverse harem romances.
*I received an ARC for this book and my voluntary review is an honest reflection of my thoughts and opinions.*
I have been wanting Lucifer's story since I first met him in Hellcat Escaping. To say I was nervous about going in is an understatement because I tend to hype things up in my head and they usually never live up to expectations. However Jade absolutely nailed this! It was everything I wanted and didn't know I needed.
Helena is just trying to recover after her time with Ronin and wants nothing more than to return home to heaven. But hell has other plans much to her disgust.
Lucifer is hiding so much and twisting and controlling so many things it's definitely a mind game trying to figure out truth from lie. His path is changing and you can't help but feel his pain as he struggles to come to grips with and understand it. He's still definitely my favourite and the one I'm most protective over and would go to war to keep safe... Jade I'm looking at you...
Tobias took me a while to warm to mostly because I didn't trust his intentions even though I wanted them to be good he just felt too slippery for me to put any trust into.
Logan is broken but so loveable and hiding perhaps more secrets than anyone else. He wants to protect Helena from himself and tries his hardest to push her away even though he wants her.
The burning sexual tension between Tobias and Logan leaves you wanting a cold shower. That ending of chapter 33... I squealed like a school girl. IYKYK
Helena was stolen from heaven and finally after years of imprisonment she is going to be returned. That is until she attempts to cross back into that space and it reacts badly to her. She is taken to hell where Lucifer binds her and refuses to let her out of his sight. Enter a shifter and a trickster demon who are apparently her soulmates alongside Lucifer... This doesn't bode well for her escaping her prison. Secrets and lies are hidden beneath power overload which seems to be creating more problems in the circles of hell. What is truly going on with the power surges and her strange relationship with these three men?
I am always aware that a story by this author is going to be action packed, dramatic, hot, tense, shocking and a totally unexpected but this has a life of its own. This universe always contains the most dangerous beings who we must remember have the capacity for some sort of love. I adore reverse harem and each seems to have their time in this slight slow burn. I love the clashing personalities and the strong heroines who won't be treated like they are weak. A complete page turner that makes me eager to discover the next chapter for these bonded characters.

I would recommend this to anyone looking for an extreme slow burn reverse harem with lots of dilemmas.
This book follows Helena, who is an angel freshly locked out of heaven, and the only person to take her in is Lucifer himself. What happens when he bonds her with himself and 2 other powerful men?
I'd like to start it off to say it was very interesting with smut here and there (not alot of it, so if you want smut this more likely isn't the book for you.) this book morely focused on the plot and developing it, which let's just say there was alot going on.
Overall, I actually felt quite overwhelmed whilst reading it, as there was so much going on and I was struggling to catch up and understand in the beginning. Although, it was definitely well written, I just feel as though it sprung too much information on us at once and it was quite hard to read.

I almost gave up reading reverse harem and this story really surprised me in a good way. I knew it's a spin off of another series but I haven't had any hardships to truly immerse in Helena's story and enjoy every page of the book. And what a relief - no whiny damsel in distress who needs saving. Helena was a strong personality with impressively sharp intelligence, tenacious, resourceful, full of surprises. As a lover of stories of the Otherworld, Hell and Lucifer I really appreciated the originality of the world building here. Add to that all the twists, the banter and the black humour and it was a great entertainment. The book is heavily plot driven, slow burnish so the relationships between all the characters were definitely on the down low.

Each main character made me want to read more. The group together was both hilarious and entertaining. I especially loved the relationship growth between Tobias and Helena. Still, I can't wait to continue this series to see how all the characters grow and how their relationships do.
The plot was amazing. The secrets????!!!!! The tension!!!!!! With every new truth revealed, there was always more to learn. I loved how the world was created as well. I liked how we got to see how Hell looked. It was a unique world on its own.
I really liked this book and suggest it to anyone who enjoys a supernatural book with spice, drama, and secrets.
I think I may need to read the series that goes along with this book. Is it good, yes but it didn’t really keep me vested. I honestly was expecting more spice and less of a slow burn book from a story about the devil & his soulmates. It did have me laughing with all the antics Helena pulls to try to get what she wants. It does end with a cliff hanger so I’m definitely interested to see what comes next for Helena, Tobias, Logan, and Lucifer.- Elizabeth
This spin-off is so intense, steamy, action-packed, and twisted that I don’t know where to begin. Just know that you will regret not beginning this journey with Helena, Tobias Logan, and Lucifer. It’s definitely worth it.
