3.5 stars. (Great) Aunt Jo leaves an inheritance for each of her 3 nieces. This is Clare & Adam’s story. Setting: small town NC Her will stipulates a min. amount of time living & or working elsewhere with a certain guy for them to inherit. Sweet story, character emphasis.
I really enjoyed this story, because it made me think about what it takes to have a good relationship with others and with God. Some may say this story was a tear-jerker, but it is also one of spiritual and emotional healing. I read Gift From the Heart because I enjoyed the first book in the Sisters and Brides series, and now I am hoping for a chance to read the third book soon.
In order to claim her inheritance, she has to become a nanny?
Clare Randall is thrilled to receive a bequest from her great-aunt. With her bank account on fumes since tragedy upended her life, a cash infusion is just what she needs. But she’s not as thrilled about the strings attached to her legacy. In order to claim her inheritance, she has to work as a nanny for six months for Dr. Adam Wright—a widower she’s never met who lives more than a thousand miles away. What was Aunt Jo thinking?
Adam is equally shocked when Clare reaches out to him with her odd story. Yet cautious as he is about letting a stranger into his life, he does need help with his truculent and uncooperative eleven-year-old daughter. And maybe, with her teaching credentials, Jo’s great-niece will be able to smooth out the waters between him and his daughter … and help him learn a few lessons about love along the way.
In this HOLT Medallion finalist, bestselling and award-winning author Irene Hannon takes listeners on another heartwarming journey filled with hope and happy endings.
“A beautifully written love story filled with faith and blessings for both the characters and the reader.”—RT Book Reviews on Gift from the Heart
My comments:
This is the second book in the sisters and brides series, the series follows 3 sisters AJ, Claire and Morgan who are recipients of bequests to their great aunts will however the bequests come with strange missions that have to be performed in order for the inheritance to be claimed. This is Clair's story.
Clair Randle is struggling for money after the loss of her husband and child. Joe's legacy is something she really needs in order to help her start getting back on track therefor she feels she has no choice and needs to do what she's being instructed. Adam Write although surprised by Clair's story checks it out and agrees to the arrangement once it's been confirmed.
I really loved the way Clair and Adam helped each other and the way Clair was with Nicole adam's daughter. This was a wonderful story with some really emotional points, I was in tears during some scenes in the story as Clair and Adam explored their pasts. I am looking forward to Morgan's story when it comes out on October 14th on audio book. I suspect Morgans could be the most interesting given her work aholic nature.
Love must be nourished for it to be sustained, and both partners must care, and share, and entrust their hearts to each other. Adam and Claire learn this when they must confront the fear and guilt in their hearts. They also realize that God alleviates all suffering and knows exactly what one needs to be healed and whole again. This is a lovely story that will touch your own heart and help you see the kindness of God.
Self-unforgiveness and guilt can be a cancer of the soul. With the gift of time and love it can be dealt with and set aside. For Clare to receive her inheritance she had to work for free for Dr. Adam Wright for six months as a nanny for his pre-teen daughter, Nichole. This is a heart-rending story of emotions with a beautiful ending. Tissue time.
This is book two of this series and a good love story. I always like to do things in order however you don’t have to read these books in order.
Clare and Adam were two lost souls who eventually found each other. I loved how Clare was able to help Nicole turn around by leading and not pushing her.
this ebook came from the library. I appreciate that not all books I can purchase of an author but am able to borrow to read to complete reading her work. Adam and Clare's story. Aunt Jo seems to had some insight into her legacy she was leaving behind. Now onto AJ's story....
It's about healing, forgiving oneself and letting go-to letting go of bad influences and self-recrimination. The message that the older gentleman gave the pastor resonated with me.
When Claire Randall"s Aunt Jo died she never expected the condition of her will where she has to become a nanny to the 11 year old trouble daughter of Dr. Adam Wright. Another thing Clair and Alex didn't count on was falling in love which was Jo"s intentions all along
I loved this second one in the series and am about to order the third one and last in this wonderful work of Christian fiction. I highly recommend it and you won't be disappointed.
I enjoyed this book, a heartfelt story of both Adam and Clare moving from fear and guilt to trust and love. The characters are memorable and satisfying in the depiction. The pace was well written. This series is very good and can’t wait to see what Morgan’s story will be.
This is I think the first in a three book series about three sisters who have lost their aunt. In her will, she stipulates that the three sisters cannot claim their inheritance until they finish six months of service work in various locations in the U.S. Also, it so happens that each sister has a troubled man that they will be working in close contact with for the entirety of the six months. "Gift from the Heart" is Clare's story, and she must work as a nanny, free, for Doctor Adam Wright, watching his eleven year old girl, Nicole. The two instantly get along, and attraction soon follows. However, if they're ever going to be together, Clare must forgive herself for the death of her husband and son, and Adam must escape past demon's that his father left on his heart. This book is undoubtedly Christ-centered, moral and interesting from the start. Although it's not best-seller material, it is worth the read, and may even teach you something along the way.
This was a depressing book. I understand that people have to go through some very hard times, and that it takes time to heal from them. I also understand that a romance novel generally doesn't keep this much depressing emotional baggage through the entire book. I seriously was almost crying reading this book. Which goes to show that it is well written, but I felt like it dragged on for too long without any other action. It was also a little preachy to me, but that just comes with Christian romances. Overall a pretty good book, but not my favorite. Bring a box of tissues if you're emotional like me.
After I read the first book in this series I was excited to read the second. I really enjoyed this book. I would have gave it 4 stars instead of 3 if Clare's background had been a little less tragic. I read the love inspired series because I like uplifting reading escapes and Clare's background was really depressing to read.
Although I recommend you read this series in order (the first book is The Best Gift), you can enjoy this book by itself. The characters drew me in, and the story kept me reading. I'm glad I didn't have to wait to read the next book!
Clare's inheritance is pending until she becomes a nanny for a young girl in North Carolina for six months. There she finds a handsome doctor and a new beginning.
