Oh, THANK GOD, AND THE READING FAIRY (if there isn't one, somebody should create her)
I'M DONE!!
I'VE FINISHED THIS SUGARED (Honestly they should give us some sort of warning on the front cover! Something along the lines of: Attention, this story contains so much sugar and silliness that it can turn out difficult to swallow!
And to think that it all started with a squirrel in water skis....
Look, the first one hundred and twenty seven pages were okay...in a: AWE, aren't theysilly, ridiculous i mean cute kind of way?? :)
But when i reached page number one hundred thirty one....and OH, someone give me patience...
Arrrgh, you TWO IDIOTS!!
After that, my patience went out in smoke:
Puff!
And after THAT i had to put up with these two idiots (more Nick that Sienna) for almost more three hundred pages...honestly, no one deserves it.
First of all, if Nick is a day older than sixteen, i will change my football club!!
yeah, never....
He's....emotionally imature. He's constantly saying how BEAUTIFULL Sienna is, and how much he LOVES HER, and blah, blah, but THAT doesn't stop him from having a vast number of relationships.
You see, HE LOVES HER, but since both of them work in the same place, they're are DOOMED to never be together...he's been traumatized about personal relations developed in the work place.
HOWEVER that doesn't stop him from getting envolved with Chloe, whos starts out as an office temp, and ends up working permanently there!! He's like a hummingbird always on the "prowl" forlong legged beauties i mean flowers...
Then there's just TOO MUCH references about what they're wearing! I couldn't care less, if Nick was wearing his grandmother's napkin around his waist, along with some Mickey Mouse shoes....
Okay, THAT i would mind, but you get what i'm saying right??
They're TIRESOME!! AND OBTUSE!! NO ONE IS THAT OBTUSE!!

When I saw this book sitting on the new arrivals shelf at my local library, I immediatly grabbed it, the cover is just beautiful and it drew me to it like the moth to the flame!
This is a very absorbing and entertaining read, as well as emotional and deeply moving. However, it's not perfect and my main feeling whilst reading was annoyance.
The characters come across as a lot younger than they are, especially the hero, whom acted as though he was 21 not late 20's and 30's. Staying on the age theme, this book takes place over a period of five years, but I couldn't see any sign of the characters growing up at all. They acted exactly the same at the beginning all the way through to just before the ending.
The hero's POV didn't quite work, it seemed too similar to the heroines. And, I wish the author didn't write. So. Many. Sentences. Like. This. ...Like I said, annoying!
I almost gave up on this book around one third of the way through - the characters were getting on my nerves with their, at times, frustratingly immature actions and the pace of the book was SLOW!
But I'm glad I ploughed on, as it was really enjoyable by the end. The ending by the way is spectacular, so emotional that I was almost in tears.
The love the hero and heroine felt for each other felt genuine, and was full of ups and downs, just like any relationship, although I did on occasion feel like shouting at the two of them to just bloody tell each other!
So, yeah, not a perfect book, it's a bit of an effort but in the end very moving and emotional.

One word to describe this book: FOLLOW.
Alright, why follow? Simply because this book is all about following your heart when it comes to loving someone, because sometimes, the mind isn't always right. But timing is the best part and the most crucial and dangerous one, do it in the wrong time and it'll mess the whole purpose. That's what this book is all about.
I bought this because of the title and the book cover. Never heard of this book before, but I saw it in the Valentine's section at the bookstore. Pretty interesting, I said to myself, and I grabbed a copy because I have that feeling that this would be a great book to read.
I really had no idea why I'm reading romance this month, hehe February? I needed to be in that "love" mood since I'll be acting as a photographer and take photos at Valentine's Day.
So anyway, this story is so sweet. Yes, its not the typical love story where the two meet at parties, get each other's number then go to bed. Its not like where two was introduced by friends, or even had blind dates too. Its just a simple eye to eye meeting that happened in a train station. In books and movie, its very common, mainly because authors wants us to feel that romance in the most simplest and realistic way possible.
I'm not gonna spoil anything in this review, but I just want you to know dear reader that if you want to read a good romance book this month of hearts, get a copy of "This is a love story" by Jessica Thompson. You can really relate to the characters, especially the emotions. And also, you'll learn a lot from them as they share the feelings they have and opinions when it comes to love.
It is a love story, a very different, entertaining and of course, that sweet sweet love story of two people who met, fell in love at the wrong time with the right person.

Este é um livro simplesmente genial! Este foi o primeiro livro que li desta autora e confesso que o terminei a contragosto. Posso dizer, sem qualquer sombra para duvidas, que este foi um dos livros mais doces que já li, não só pelo tópico mas também pela forma como tudo acontece. Esta é uma obra única e destacasse de outros romances pelo facto de ser uma história que vai avançando de uma forma diferente e sem os normais clichés de homem conhece mulher, apaixonam-se e envolvem-se…não, aqui tudo é diferente e acaba por ser um retrato mais real daquilo que se passa na realidade. Apesar de previsibilidade com que se conhecem, Nick e Sienna vão ter uma história muito diferente do normal, vão encontrar situações e contratempos que em vez de os aproximar, irá torna-los em melhores amigos. Mas isso não tornará a situação mais fácil, muito pelo contrário, os verdadeiros sentimentos que nutrem um pelo outro irão apenas assombrar as relações que vão mantendo com outras pessoas ao longo do tempo. Quantas vezes não tivemos já com problemas idênticos? É tão fácil encontrarmo-nos apaixonados pela pessoa certa, mas na altura errada…
Espero sinceramente que leiam este livro e que se apaixonem por ele. Quando iniciei a leitura nunca pensei ficar tão cativada por esta história que no final acaba por arrebatar os nossos corações de uma forma incrível. A autora ganhou mais uma fã e irei ficar atenta a outros possíveis livros que possam sair no mercado.

Quando comecei a ler Duas Vidas esperava um romance super fofinho. Não foi isso que tive! O livro começa de forma um pouco confusa e [OMG] é tão aborrecido e sem sentido que me senti moralmente obrigada a pausá-lo na página 69 para bem da minha saúde mental e emocional e depois não consegui encontrar forças suficiente para voltar a pegar nele.
Sienna e Nick conhecem-se num comboio e é amor à primeira vista... por causa da imagem de um esquilo num jornal [oh tão credível...I’m buying it already] e depois descobrem que são colegas de trabalho. Nick fica logo de perna atrás devido à sua relação anterior, mas não consegue evitar os seus sentimentos por Sienna. Sienna por seu lado acha Nick infantil, mas tão giro que não consegue resistir à atracção [parece-me bem. Girls, tomem nota: a vossa paixoneta pode irritar-vos, podem ter pouco ou nada em comum, podem até mal o conhecer e/ou falar com ele, mas se ele for giro está tudo perfeito ;) *caso o meu maravilhoso sarcasmo vos passe completamente ao lado, estou a ser sarcástica *]
And that’s it: 69 páginas condensadas. O que faz desta review uma mini-sinopse alargada, cheia de spoilers suculentos e pouco mais. O que me faz odiar ainda mais o livro, porque se não vos spoilasse, não fazia valer o meu ponto de vista e ficava-me pelo simples “Este livro é, para mim, uma autêntica sanguessuga: sugou-me a vida e a beleza. Perdi 1 hora da minha vida e fiz o pre-order de rugas que se manifestarão daqui a mais ou menos dez anos de tanto franzir o sobrolho. Não é um livro que recomende, apesar de conhecer pessoas que o adoraram.”
Gostaria de agradecer o empréstimo à Marta Dias que foi super fofinha em me emprestar o livro. Apesar de tudo, era um livro que queria ler e que como não existe na minha biblioteca, iria inevitavelmente comprá-lo [não querendo serainda mais besta, iria ser um golpe ainda mais duro, pois, para além dos danos acima mencionados, afectaria igualmente a minha carteira]

He de decir que si fuera por la portada seguramente ni lo habría cogido entre mis manos en la librería, porque no me pareció demasiado bonita y una vez leído el libro creo que no expresa debidamente todo lo que contiene entre sus páginas. Vamos, sin rodeos, la portada me parece fea. Ya sabéis que yo soy muy exigente con las portadas, creo que la expresión de “comer por los ojos” es válida también para la lectura, porque la portada es lo primero que llega a nuestros sentidos cuando paseamos por la librería. Nota para la editorial: La portada extranjera me parece mil veces más bonita y acertada.
En fin, lo cogí porque había leído sobre el libro en blogs americanos que sigo y cuando me enteré de que salía en España no lo dudé, quería leer esta historia tan cercana, que había tocado el corazón de mucha gente.
Antes de leer el libro debo advertir: No os desesperéis porque las cosas no pasen como vosotros queréis, no penséis que son tontos los protagonistas (aunque a veces lo parezcan) y sobre todo, no penséis que la historia es fácil, que desde fuera todo se ve muy bonito, pero en el fondo seguro que cometeríamos sus mismos pecados.
La historia que encontraremos entre sus páginas, es una historia de amor y de amistad, pura, fuerte y sincera. Es una historia plagada de malentendidos, de celos, de miedos, de amores, de superación y de dolor. Es como subirte a una montaña rusa.
Conocer a Nick y a Sienna es una experiencia maravillosa, y aventurarse en sus vidas es como aventurarte en la vida de tus amigos. Nick es divertido, extrovertido, alocado y entrañable. Es todo un amor y resulta difícil no caer rendida a sus pies a medida que vas conociendo más cosas sobre él. Sienna es una luchadora, es fuerte y vulnerable, es amorosa, tierna y graciosa, pero sobretodo es la media naranja de Nick, aunque ambos se empeñen en que no sea así.
Sinceramente, la referencia a la película “Cuando Harry encontró a Sally” no podría ser más acertada, y si habéis visto la película y lees el libro, lo entenderéis
En definitiva, “Esta es una historia de amor” (This is a love Story, como título original) nos
cuenta eso, una historia de amor desde el comienzo. Pero no es cualquier historia de amor, porque aquí los personajes adolecen de “humanitis” (sí, la palabra me la he inventado, hoy estoy muy loca). Os preguntareis qué narices es eso de “humanítis”, pues no es más que personajes tan reales, tan cercanos, y tan lejos de la perfección, que es fácil identificarte con ellos o identificar a gente que te rodea con ellos. En mi caso la historia de estos dos protagonistas no me es indiferente, porque una amiga mía vive en medio de una historia parecida desde hace muuuuchos años. Por eso, cuando leía como se forjaba esta historia de amor y quería darme de cabezazos porque no entendía como actuaban así los protagonistas, recordaba que al fin y al cabo actúan como la mayoría de los seres humanos, como mi amiga, por ejemplo, y es que es muy sencillo ver toda esta historia de amor desde la distancia, pero si la viviéramos nosotros, seguro que cometeríamos los mismos errores, pues el miedo a hacer el ridículo y a descubrir nuestros sentimientos siempre es más fuerte que la razón.
Si queréis disfrutar de una lectura entrañable, que destila humor y amor a partes iguales, y que es capaz de tocarte el corazón y sacarte una carcajada en el mismo capítulo, no lo dudéis, éste es vuestro libro.

First of all, I have to tell you that in my whole experience of reading this book, the most dominant feeling I had was frustration.
Yes, the blurb promised a "boy-meets-girl" story and the title promised a love story (Could you be any more blunt with This is a Love Story?), but the book is so much more complex than those premises. It was honestly a roller-coaster ride, one that lasts for five years.
I really like the emotion behind the novel. Sure, every few pages I would be all like, "Why can't they just tell each other, ffs?!?" but I think satisfying my craving for hugely cheesy revelations would have not made the book what it is.
I love how the author describes what true love means and how much it is willing to sacrifice. I also love the fact that the "love story" is not just one that involves a guy and girl. I find the honesty depicted by characters very refreshing. It gives them more depth and makes them a little more real. Making the book consist of alternating POVs was a great idea, too. It makes the reader understand the side of each of the main characters and what they are going through and how they are dealing with their feelings.
So why, despite all of this, only four stars? Well, in all honesty, it has caused me a lot of distress. At times, I find a few bits a bit dragging and I think those could've been done away with. Also, the chapters are very long. I like my books in neat ten-to-fifteen-page chapters and for a book with a whopping four-hundred-and-forty pages containing a grand total of sixteen chapters, one chapter is a bit too much to digest.
However, despite those shortcomings, I found it a heart-tugging, quite tear-jerky (I shed none.) read. Enjoyable. :)

I really like the emotion behind the novel. Sure, every few pages I would be all like, "Why can't they just tell each other, ffs?!?" but I think satisfying my craving for hugely cheesy revelations would have not made the book what it is.
I love how the author describes what true love means and how much it is willing to sacrifice. I also love the fact that the "love story" is not just one that involves a guy and girl. I find the honesty depicted by characters very refreshing. It gives them more depth and makes them a little more real. Making the book consist of alternating POVs was a great idea, too. It makes the reader understand the side of each of the main characters and what they are going through and how they are dealing with their feelings.
So why, despite all of this, only four stars? Well, in all honesty, it has caused me a lot of distress. At times, I find a few bits a bit dragging and I think those could've been done away with. Also, the chapters are very long. I like my books in neat ten-to-fifteen-page chapters and for a book with a whopping four-hundred-and-forty pages containing a grand total of sixteen chapters, one chapter is a bit too much to digest.
However, despite those shortcomings, I found it a heart-tugging, quite tear-jerky (I shed none.) read. Enjoyable. :)

This is a lovely, heart-warming, heart-wrenching rollercoaster of a book! I absolutely loved it, I read it so quickly as I just wanted to find out what happened. I loved the main characters of Nick and Sienna, they were real to me. They had their flaws but ultimately they were lovely people and so I really cared what happened to them. I really liked the supporting characters too, especially Sienna's dad George. I really felt like I had got to know them in the short time I was reading this book :)
This book is so beautifully written, the way Jessica Thompson describes things and allows the story to unfold really made the book so enjoyable to me. I really enjoyed the change in perspective throughout the book, it was very interesting learning events through both Nick and Sienna's perspectives.
This book is definitely a rollercoaster, but one worth taking. It made me laugh and cry but ultimately at the end of the book the feeling I was left with was happiness, and hope.
This is a fantastic debut book, and I look forward very much to Jessica's next book. I definitely recommend this.

This was the first book I read from Jessica Thompson and I regret nothing. She is talented and has a great and captivating way of approach the feelings and the moments of the characters. This book is seriously nice, beautiful, addicting.
Reading it, you smile, you laugh, you cry, you get mad and impatient/frustated over the characters. It was a really funny, interesting and pleasant reading.
«I never wanted to be the one to break her heart, to disappoint her, to be late for dinner or to hog the bed. I never wanted to be the person to make her cry, or turn out to be a huge let-down. She meant to much to me for any of that. While I believed I could love her better than anyone in the world, I didn't really trust myself to be... Well, good enough.»

Adorei este livro!! Não estava nada à espera de gostar assim tanto dele!
Estava indecisa entre dar 4 ou 5 estrelas, acabei por dar as 5 por uma simples razão... identifico-me imenso com ele! A história deste livro faz de certa maneira lembrar-me da minha própria história e é por isso que o considerei tão especial...
A capa do livro não conta nem metade da história deste. Ele fala sobre duas pessoas que se apaixonaram à primeira vista, mas devido a um percalço inicial da vida ficam apenas os melhores amigos. Com medo de estragar essa amizade acabam por nunca mais revelar a verdade sobre o que sentem, mas continuam sempre juntos, os melhores amigos.
A capa para mim não é muito chamativa, apela-me a outro tipo de história, mas é sem dúvida um livro que vale a pena!

First of all: Guys. It could have been SO easy! :D
Obviously, it wasn't. But that's alright, as it means we can read this lovely story.
'This is a love story' is the love story of Nick and Sienna over the course of about 5 years. It's told from both their points of view, which was quite nice. This way you could see how both of them felt in certain situations. And you could see all of those misunderstandings that delayed their - spoiling the obvious - happy end.
I don't know what else to say, except for the sometimes really fun style of writing, I guess. I simply enjoyed this book very much.

Ruim 3 weken deed ik over het lezen van dit boek, terwijl ik er heel erg naar uit keek. Dit boek kost ik vorig jaar op het boekenfestijn en het leek me zo'n heerlijk zoetsappig verhaal.
We volgen Nick en Sienna. Ze komen elkaar voor het eerst tegen in de metro richting in werk, maar niet veel later komen ze elkaar geheel onverwachts opnieuw tegen. Beide hebben ze direct een oogje op de ander, echter durven ze hier niet vooruit te komen en groeit er enkel een hechte vriendschap op. Gaan ze elkaar het ooit durven vertellen of gaat ieder zijn eigen kant op?
Het is zeker een zoetsappig verhaal. Zeker als je dit stukje hierboven leest. En hier gaat eigenlijk het hele boek om. Ze draaien pagina's lang om elkaar heen, durven niet te vertellen wat ze voor elkaar voelen en belanden keer op keer in bijzondere situaties. De eerste 100-150 pagina's vond ik best wel langzaam, hier heb ik me echt doorheen moeten bikkelen, maar als je eenmaal daar voorbij bent leest het eigenlijk wel prima. Een mooie toevoeging aan het verhaal vond ik de situatie rondom de vader van Siënna, dat zorgde voor meer diepgang. Ik vond zowel Nick als Siënna echt super leuke karakters en ik kon dan ook echt genieten van hun scènes samen, alleen duurde het allemaal wel wat te lang. Als ik nu terug kijk wat er nu eigenlijk gebeurd is in deze 400 pagina's, valt dat een beetje tegen. Er had óf wat meer drama in gemogen óf gewoon een bladzijde of 100 minder. Om die reden geef ik het boek 3 sterren, wat niet zegt dat ik er niet van genoten heb, want stiekem vond ik hem best leuk!

Com um inicio cativante, protagonizado por um esquilo e uma troca de olhar que representa intelectos similares, Jessica Thompson dá inicio a esta história de amor, tal como o título original, e muito bem, refere.
Penso que nesta obra há pedaços de vida, traços de personalidade, descrições e diálogos para todos os gostos. Para os meus foi especialmente o humor presente naquele escritório do The Cube ou até o primeiro encontro entre Nick e George. Esses foram os momentos mais cómicos e que me fizeram rir e que contrabalançaram com as excessivas descrições e alongamentos em relação ao dia-a-dia ou até pensamentos das personagens.
Se não fosses estes momentos e outras pequenas pérolas, ou até aquele final, eu não tinha gostado do livro. Por isso é que digo que dá para toda a gente, visto que ao longo da leitura vai adorando e detestando certos excertos, mas no final o resultado é satisfatório.
Em relação a Nick a minha opinião acabou por ser algo negativa. Achei que ele tem uma personalidade bastante feminina, tanto que cheguei a perder a conta das vezes que ele chorou ou ficou histérico. Que raio! Ele, pelas minhas contas, foi o personagem que mais chorou neste livro e talvez o personagem mais choramingas que eu conheço!
Aquela amizade também não me caiu bem no goto. É que se eles se conhecessem desde pequenos ainda entendia, mas ambos sentiram o click no comboio, ambos ficaram a pensar um no outro, etc. mas depois... nicles. Ainda esperei que houvesse algo no meio, um beijo ou até uns toques mais sinceros, mas não, Jessica Thompson fez questão de nos deixar à espera até à última página - não gostei!
De resto, posso dizer que achei outras coisas amorosas, como a relação de Sienna com o pai ou até mesmo com Pete, ou até o concerto. Achei a morte de George muito bem conseguida. Por um lado não estava à espera mas por outro foi algo que ficou a condizer com o restante conteudo - não sei se me faço entender.

'This is a Love Story' is about Nick and Sienna, who lock eyes on a train journey over a funny article in a newspaper. Soon after that they discover that they are also work colleagues now. And that is the beginning of their friendship and their love for each other. Unfortunately, they are kind of blind when it comes to acknowledging the other one's love...
I really liked the story. Sometimes it was cute, sometimes sad and especially towards the end quite nerve-wracking. It reminded me a little bit of that film 'serendipity', where they never really find each other until the very end. And also a tiny little bit of 'one day', but it was still very different to that one.
The chapters were separated into both Sienna's and Nick's points of view, which was cool because you were able to see how each one of them felt and thought in particular situations. That way, you could sometimes see their stupid misunderstandings and their shyness and everything.
Although I really liked Nick and Sienna, I have to say I'm a bit mad with them. They were both in relationships with other people but still thinking of each other all the time and imagining being with the other one and what their hair smells like and whatever. That's a little unfair in my opinion.
But other than that the story was lovely and especially ending was so, so delightful! ♥ I loved it.

I received this book at our Ottawa book blogger meet-up from Hatchette group for review. I like a good chick lit story and I was looking forward to reading this book. I have to admit that while I ended up liking this book as a whole, there were times when I wanted to throw the book across the room.
The main characters in the novel, Sienna and Nick, are clearly in love with each other. It is apparent from page 1 and they do not seem to be able to get their shit together. Both are stubborn and they are too afraid to admit how they feel. This makes for a very frustrating reading experience.
The book is told in both their perspectives and so the reader knows what is going on for each character at all times. It really makes you wish you could jump into the book smack both Sienna and Nick on the back of the head and say: "You love each other so what in the heck are you waiting for?!? Please, just kiss already!!" In fact, I may or may not have done this aloud while reading and my husband may or may not think that I am insane.
Overall, I give this book 3 out of 5. This is merely based on the frustration level because I do think that the writing was good and that it held my attention. If Nick and Sienna had gotten their act together sooner I may have given it a 4.

Mas há amor mais sincero e verdadeiro do que aquele que podemos ver escrito nestas páginas? Provavelmente sim, mas eu sinceramente ainda não encontrei um tão bonito.
Este livro conta a história de Sienna e Nick, duas pessoas que se apaixonam à primeira vista, mas que passam o tempo a lutar contra isso mesmo. A maneira como eles gostam um do outro tão profundamente, mas ao mesmo tempo dão espaço um ao outro para se descobrirem, cometerem erros e crescerem é algo de soberbo. A amizade verdadeira, profunda e honesta que se desenvolve entre os dois personagens é algo sublime de se ver, tendo em conta que se amam tão profundamente como é possível terem uma amizade destas sem se envolverem?
O que mais me cativou neste livro foi mesmo a relação entre os personagens. Claro que adorei conhecer muitas das personagens secundárias, mas o que realmente me tocou e manteve agarrada ao livro foi a relação estabelecida entre os dois personagens. Gostei bastante do facto de a autora nos ir mostrando os sentimentos e pensamentos de cada um dos personagens ao longo do tempo e do crescer da sua amizade e amor.
Em suma, um livro que recomendo sem qualquer problema para todas aquelas pessoas que gostam de ler um bom romance.

I started this not expecting a lot from the blurb I admit but it actually still managed not to live up to any expectations.
I found the 2 main characters really annoying. Nick is meant to be 27/28 in this book, yet he basically comes across as a teenager the whole way through. I know guys are immature but this immature? my hubby is 27 and doesnt act like this.
Sienna acted the age she was meant to but also found the storyline of them supposedly being "in love" with each other silly. They both get with other people etc yet still love each other and yet are less than honest with each other about anything in their lives.
After about 120 pages I gave up as I found them both too annoying and so I decided to cut my losses and start on my next one.

Okay, let's start with the good news. Basically, the plot in itself has so much potential. I actually like the short relationship between main A and main B-break off to seek new ones-go back together after some realization that they belong with one another. But that's pretty much IT. The bad news?
Let me just say: WHAT A NOVEL TO HAVE IN MY HANDS AFTER WISHING FOR SO LONG TO FEEL THE PAPERBACK AGAIN. Maybe I should've taken the "be careful what you wish for" adage more seriously. The characters were TERRIBLY written. I didn't like the way they were written because the way she wrote them made me only imagine teenagers instead of the twenty-eight year old Nick (who turned 32 towards the end) and twenty-four year old Sienna (who by the way, I HATE HER NICKNAME "SI." It made me think of Gangnam Style tbh, or the Spanish word for YES. But no offense to those who're really called Si in real life). They both sounded so needy which was really out of line. I was expecting a more mature portrayal of these two characters but Nick sounded like a horny bastard who loved to describe love in terms of metaphors and Sienna to be a weepy, clingy person who was also a super fan of metaphors. It was so off, I can't--. I actually loved WHEN I FALL IN LOVE by MIRANDA DICKINSON better and that novel was already iffy to start with. I HATED THE WHOLE FLOW OF THE BANTER AND THE LOVE TALK, LIKE YOU HAVE NO FREAKING IDEA. The metaphors confused me: was I reading a YA novel or a slightly mature one? I can name a number of really good chicklit authors who can pull off really great dialogue WITHOUT abusing the metaphors. JFC I was always thinking of teenagers the whole time. I HATED THE BANTER between the characters, an issue I highlighted back when I was reading A HOPELESS ROMANTIC by HARRIET EVANS. The banter was childish and for the supposed "OH SNAP" exchanges, they were NOT OFFENSIVE at all. Like I was actually laughing when they were fighting because I found their exchanges really REALLY funny, which I assumed was not the proper reaction. And for the comedy she claimed she would have in here according to the summary? DIDN'T HAPPEN. All I found funny was how stupid the dialogue was and how stupid the characters are.
TL;DR: I'm not angry at Jessica Thompson. I'm angry at how the story was put out because it had SO MUCH POTENTIAL and it was ruined because of cheap use of language and terrible characters.

OH DIOS!! Inicié esta lectura porque leí muchas reseñas positivas así que me dije: "dale una oportunidad" y no me arrepiento pero tengo que aceptar que tengo sentimientos encontrados con los personajes.
Primero: No se en contra de quien tengo que ir si de Nick (el protagonista) o de la autora (creo que será ella) DIOS!! a ese tipo le faltaron pantalones (por no decir otra cosa) para defender sus sentimientos y actuar en base a ellos, pero acepto que si hubiera sido así no seria la historia que es.
Segundo: Sienna se me hizo una protagonista muy noble, angelical y romántica pero sin rayar en lo absurdo, empalagoso o estúpido. Es una mujer que fue evolucionando muy bien conforme las circunstancias y de alguna manera se entiende que actúe así. No se enfrasca en sus miserias y sigue con su vida aunque eso signifique callar sus sentimientos y eso se agradece en una historia.
Tercero: Hubo momentos en los que pensé que todo iría como yo quería pero resultaba que solo eran evasivas en la historia amorosa principal y yo así de ahhhhhhh!! POR DIOS, ALGUIEN HAGA ALGO!! pero eso hizo que siguiera pendiente en la historia lo que termino en una lectura del libro completo en apenas unas horas.
Definitivamente una novela intrigante y romántica con sus toquesitos eróticos (no tanto eróticos sino mas bien sugerentes) muy pocos pero suficientes con personajes creíbles y "reales" dentro de la historia. Con actitudes comunes pero sin quitarle el merito de una linda historia de amor. Muy recomendable. Mi calificación no es perfecta por el final, la verdad es que deseaba mucho mas. Me plantearon la escena que tanto estaba esperando para después darme una bofetada con los agradecimientos. Vaya, ni siquiera un epilogo. Puff pero bueno, eso no le quita mi disfruté por la novela.

I have to say, I was just a little disappointed with this book. It wasn't a bad read, but more like the sort of book I would pick up to read on the beach for it's simplicity. There's no denying that as it claim on the cover, it is a "boy meets girl" sort of story. But if I was cruel enough to ruin the story, I could probably tell you the entire gist of it in a couple of sentences. I was a little mislead by the mention in the description of the couple meeting due to a squirrel on custom made skis - this intrigued me and made me think this story had something of the out of the ordinary I like to find in my books. I thought it must be a very important part of the story to be mentioned in the description, but it only turned out to be an advert in a news paper they had both found amusing on a train when they first noticed one another laughing at the same advert. I thought it was going to involve a real squirrel on skis and was deeply disappointed lol. However, what I do like about this book that sets it apart from other easy reading romance books is the style of writing - swapping from his and her view as the narrator. The over all plot wasn't very original - the ups and downs of being in love. Nearing coming together only to hit more obstacles etc, etc.

Já iniciei esta leitura influenciada por algumas opiniões negativas que fui lendo, de leitores que, como eu, se deixaram enganar pela falsa semelhança ao livro "Um Dia".
Há um esforço tão flagrante para mimetizar esse livro (que é brilhante e original dentro do género), que a história se emaranha em si mesma, ao ponto de o leitor perder a paciência. Foi já com muito esforço que me obriguei a chegar a um fim, que desilude por tão previsível e insípido que é.
Por várias vezes, incitei os personagens a tomar uma atitude: não é possível que duas pessoas profundamente apaixonadas uma pela outra convivam durante anos a fio sem que pelo menos uma delas se descaia, que perca as estribeiras e que confesse esse amor que julga ser não correspondido. Pelo menos é essa a ideia que eu tenho do modo como geralmente se consolidam as relações românticas entre duas pessoas.
Talvez seja um bom livro para românticos incorrigíveis ou para quem acredita que há sempre finais felizes, mas a mim não me convenceu.

This is a good read and well written. I loved the beginning and end of the book, the first meeting of Sienna and Nick is very romantic. The story starts so well and I enjoyed the switching between the two viewpoints. Both the main characters have a tendency to over analyse what they should say and do, which leaves them both afraid to reveal their true feelings to each other. This is all very sweet to begin with, but this then goes on for years as they try to hide their love for each other and get involved with other unsuitable people. I just got to the point where, like their friends, I wanted to shout at them to "tell each other or get over it"! If about a hundred pages were cut from the middle this would be a really great book.

Este amor difícil de romper uma barreira de muitos anos de companheirismo de dois adultos poderá ser um factor que leve alguns leitores ao desespero. Confesso que tive alguns ataques de ansiedade durante a leitura, queria saber mais, queria ler mais, queria ver os dois protagonistas a assumirem o seu amor mas a cada página parecia cada vez mais difícil ver este meu desejo realizado. Quando finalmente cheguei ao final, caiu em mim uma felicidade inexplicável e as lágrimas não resistiram e caíram-me pela cara abaixo.

When I started reading this book, given by my most loved one, I never thought it would touch my heart this much. Yes, this is a love story. But this is also a story of friendship, of waiting, of achieving, of breaking down and getting back up, of crying and laughing and loving and moving on and living life. This book touched my soul, it made me crave for more, for another moment of Nick and Sienna, for another page to read. I held on to this book like it was my last chance of being saved. So far, the best book I've ever read. I am still wonderstruck of how I am feeling. Broken and sad because it's over and completely happy to see that love can always be our life savior.

No se por dónde empezar... Es el libro más tierno y bonito que he leído. La historia entre Nick y Sienna es preciosa, la amistad y el amor puro que se tienen es de lo más hermoso, te llegas a desesperar un poco por todo el sentimiento que se guardan aunque para todos los demás es más que obvio que son correspondidos, para ellos no. La historia es preciosa me enamoré del libro la verdad no me esperaba una historia así.

Onder het mom van Valentijnsdag zocht ik een romantisch boek om te recenseren. Omdat ik zelf geen bijzonder romantische ziel ben, zijn boeken me vaak wat aan de zoete kant. Zo ook dit verhaal. Sienna en Nick draaien 400 bladzijdes om elkaar heen, terwijl ze 5 jaar lang smoorverliefd op elkaar zijn. Wat ik wél erg leuk vond is het bijverhaal over de vader van Sienna, George. Hij heeft narcolepsie en dat geeft een interessante wending aan het verhaal.
