Questa saga fantasy è un crescendo rossiniano! Romanzo dopo romanzo, la trama si fa più complessa e la storia si arricchisce di nuovi personaggi, che vanno ad unirsi a Taran ed alla sua tanto improbabile quanto straordinaria compagnia. Lo stile semplice, ma mai banale, rende difficile allontanarsi dalle pagine anche per poco; si ride, si spera, ci si commuove e, senza accorgersene, si impara. Anche per questo, credo sia un'ottima lettura per far avvicinare i ragazzi a questo genere. E poi c'è Gurghi, chi non vorrebbe un Gurghi come amico!
Aggiungo che il poco conosciuto adattamento cinematografico della Disney, per quanto gradevole, non rende del tutto giustizia a questa saga.

Taran Wanderer 4/5
The direction of the plot had trouble catching my attention at first, but the entire second half of the book was the best material that I’ve gotten to experience from this series by far. Compared to the last three books, it was incredibly mature and full of complex human emotions. I was fascinated to watch Taran become a man and win over my respect after having mixed feelings about him for so long. I thought he was a terrible character when the series first started, and yet now he’s someone I can look up to with genuine respect and sympathy.
From unlikable brat to honorable warrior, a boy that has outgrown his insecurities regarding his low status and unknown origins and learned to accept himself for what he is. Taran is all grown up and he’s destined to accomplish great things. I feel like every book in this series has been much better than the last, I hope that the fifth and final installment will blow me away even more than this one.

The best of the series. I started off somewhat unimpressed after reading The Book of Three, but each book ended up being much better than the previous one. And just as I was hoping, the final book was the best of the bunch and it made reading the series from beginning to end feel worth it. A perfect balance of humour and sorrow against a backdrop of dangerous adventure and subtle character growth.
What really impressed me in the finale is how much I ended up liking Taran. I hated him in the first book. He was a rude, whiny little runt and a bumbling fool. He grew slowly but surely with each book and became a truly respectable man in this one. He became a strong and charismatic leader, a man that values his companions more than his own status, a man that would sacrifice his own chance at happiness if it meant giving a better life to the ones he loves. The final chapter was incredibly heartwarming, showing how Taran's companions have changed him in the best ways possible.

Taran Poutník zastihuje hlavního hrdinu při pátrání po svém původu. Tentokrát se zde vůbec neobjeví Eilonwy, ačkoliv je zmiňována, a Taran se s Gurgim vypraví do Svobodných obcí. Jeho putování je ze všech dílů nejpohádkovější. V každé své zastávce se něco naučí, případně něco nového pochopí. Nicméně Lloyd nikdy nepřekročí hranici ke kázání a černobílému moralizování. Ostatně to, že dobří lidé mohou páchat hrozné činy a naopak je vlastně jednou z největších předností Kronik.
Jako Poutník je i Taran podrobován docela velkým zkouškám charakteru a za sebe musím uznat, že jeho růst je nejen uvěřitelný, ale jeho zakolísání jsou velice lidská. Pokud v předchozích třech dílech dospíval, zde už opravdu dospěl.
Krále králů jsem, přiznávám se, četla na jeden zátah hluboko do noci. Nešlo mi totiž odložit takto rozjetý příběh s vysokými sázkami. Lloyd se nebojí uštědřovat svým čtenářům rány a skutečně si nemůžete být jisti životy Taranových souputníků. Stejně tak se nebojí nechat své hrdiny několikrát ošklivě prohrát.
Zoufalý boj o záchranu Prydainu a závod s časem při útoku na Annuvin mě lapily a já jsem nemohla jít spát, dokud jsem to nedočetla. Samotný závěr ale, bohužel, mi trochu ztrpčuje dojmy z jinak skvělé knihy. Autor zde najednou vytahuje klišé, kterému se do té doby velmi zdárně vyhýbal . Naštěstí se ale nejedná o převrat nijak zásadní.
Buď jak buď, je mi až líto se s Prydainem loučit. Do tohoto světa se ale ráda opět vrátím.

Non riesco ancora a credere di aver finito di leggere questa splendida saga.
Mi spiace che sia sconosciuta (o quasi) in Italia e mi spiace anche che la reperibilità dei libri sia così difficoltosa.
Nella prima parte "Taran il Girovago" troviamo il protagonista molto più maturo rispetto i precedenti episodi: sente che manca qualcosa nella sua vita e per cercare quel qualcosa ha bisogno di trovare le sue origini.
Nella seconda parte "Il sommo Re", Taran, dopo essere tornato dal viaggio alla ricerca di sé stesso (avrà trovato oppure no i suoi genitori/parenti?!?), si troverà di fronte alla sfida finale contro Arawn, il signore di Annuvin. Riuscirà il nostro eroe a sconfiggerlo?!
Che fine faranno i suoi compagni, il bardo Fflewddur, il nano Doli, la principessa Eilonwy e il dolcissimo e meraviglioso Gurgi (se non si nota è il mio personaggio preferito)??
Ho dato quattro stelle e non cinque per il semplice fatto che non amo alla follia lo stile di Alexander e i nomi non sono semplicissimi da pronunciare.
Ma, a parte questo, ha tutto: amore, amicizia, cattivi, buoni, streghe, bardi e chi più ne ha, più ne metta. Ah, e c'è Gurgi!!
Dopo aver visitato il Galles e averlo amato, non potevo non amare questa saga.

Finálny príbeh o konci zlého kráľa smrti a Taranovom šťastnom konci je veľmi pekný, s primeranými zvratmi, úmrtiami najrôznejších vedľajšákov (ale možno si všimnúť, že zomierajú len "hotové", pripravené postavy, ktoré by sa už v príbehu nemali kam posunúť, samí megahrdinovia a miestne legendy), ale najmä s veľmi ľudským a morálnym záverom (už-už, keď sa mi to zdalo ako príliš vykradnutý Návrat Kráľa).
Áno, v piatej rozprávke sa konečne naplní osud pastierika svíň a občas sa to deje až príliš priamočiaro; piaty príbeh zároveň neguje takmer všetky netradičné aspekty, ktoré som vyzdvihoval pri prvých troch rozprávkach. Prečo to napriek tomu funguje?
Odpoveď je štvrtá rozprávka s názvom Taran Pútnik. Och, to bolo niečo prenádherné. Milión archetypov, ktoré nedokážu omrzieť. Alegória, bájkovosť a poetika na každom kroku. Fenomenálne prepájanie najrôznejších udalostí, ktoré musí hrdina podstúpiť a zažiť, aby skutočne zavŕšil načaté dospievanie z prvých troch kníh. So skúsenosťou s Lewisovou Cestou pútnika oceňujem jednotlivé línie Taranovho sebaspoznávania ešte viac. Kapitola s Craddockom, pri ktorom sa hrdina rozhodne niekoľko mesiacov zostať, je úchvatná a jej neskoršie vypointovanie nesmierne silné.
Bez Tarana Pútnika by tento druhý zväzok schytal "iba" 4 hviezdy, avšak nedá sa inak.
Verdikt: Uspokojivé zakončenie krásnej staromilskej ságy o jednom z-chlapca-kráľovi.

Ich habe gerade das letzte Buch der Reihe (in diesem Sammelband) gelesen.
Der Fürst des Todes.
Es knüpft nahtlos am vorherigen Buch an und wieder hat man eine tolle, erwachsenere Story rund um Tarans letztes Abenteuer.
Der Schluss hat mir sehr gut gefallen.

Letto al liceo perché mi era stato regalato. Purtroppo il fantasy non è il mio genere d'elezione per cui, voltata l'ultima pagina, mi sono scordato tutto senza troppi rimpianti. Non un brutto libro, ma non mi ha lasciato nulla.

Una saga molto particolare, che mi ha preso completamente (era una vita che non finivo un libro di un certo spesso in così poco tempo) e che mescola le leggende del Galles, che andrò subito a cercare perché a questo punto mi ispirano molto, con personaggi incredibili. L'assistente guardiano di maiali, la principessa ribelle, il gurgi (sfido a definirlo in un altro modo), il re che non riesce a sopportare i suoi doveri e fa il bardo con un'arpa che lo costringe a dire la verità... Un fantasy originale, che per me si infila con tutto rispetto tra i migliori che abbia mai letto, libero dai canoni di Tolkien. Un buon racconto originale, che vive a sé senza appoggiarsi ai classici del genere, e che sorprende pagina dopo pagina.

Gorgeous second half to the series. Taran Wanderer was probably my favourite book of all five - I loved Taran’s quest to find himself and was so proud of him. I think the message is so poignant for young adults, and the way it led the direction of the difficult choices he had to make at the end of The High King was honestly masterful. So wonderfully written, so hard hitting and perfectly grasps the fine edge that legend walks between the simplicity of the story and the hard lessons underneath.

Con Taran di Prydain, raccolta degli ultimi due romanzi della saga di Lloyd, si chiudono le avventure di Taran e dei suoi compagni. Un fantasy che più classico non si può, con un finale dolceamaro molto tolkieniano e un tono serioso che mal si sposa con i primi capitoli (più ironici e interessanti). Sicuramente ben scritto, ma non mi ha colpito particolarmente.

Saga di alto livello. Il finale, come spesso capita, un po’ frettoloso, ma sicuramente originale rispetto ai canoni del fantasy per ragazzi, con un lieto fine ben più amaro che dolce.

Kniha je mnohem povedenější než první díl, Taran se totiž stává vyspělejším a jeho rozhodnutí už nejsou tak směšně dětinská. Také je zde mnohem více akce a napětí, takže zaslouženě 4 hvězdičky :-)

Ci si affeziona, è un fantasy atipico, dolce, avvincente, mi è piaciuto davvero tanto, e non credo dimenticherò tanto presto alcuni protagonisti di questa saga. Bello!
