As part of the "Famous Children Series," this delightful story recounts episodes from the childhood of Johannes Brahms. His parents recognized his talent, but they had no extra money to pay for music lessons. Yet true genius always finds a way. Few of Johannes's childhood friends were surprised when he grew up to become a great composer. Lively, full-color illustrations on each page capture the spirit of his times.
I got this looking for some basic research on Brahms for music lessons. The book is roughly 20 pages. 19 are about how Brahms was practically Jesus and was born knowing ever mode ever to be made in existence and adored music, and 1 about how he burned most of it and that we play it for babies now. While it did present a good story for kids to relate to, I think he was over-glorified and did not have much development for the character. The pictures were good and the wording was, so I gave it three stars out of five.
