This book was written by an acknowledged expert on Lincoln and a Mason. The book traces the history of the home on 8th street - and includes how badly it was allowed to deteriorate in the years after Lincoln moved to Washington. It was a museum at one point, a boarding house and eventually fell into disrepair. There were some who suggested it be torn down. Fortunately for the generations that followed, cooler heads prevailed and it was fully restored. Today it looks as it did when the Lincoln's lived there.
