7 - the drama of the circus life and working with the cats and lions was predictable that something like an accident would happen to Chase or Joy while working with the cats. The book ended all too soon when Chase takes Joy to the house he's bought in Florida for them to live in once they get married. Lots of back and forth between those two before they finally hook up. :)

I did not enjoy this book. I nearly quit reading it.
I didn't appreciate the woman preacher (unbiblical), the dwelling on past immorality and foolish choices by a main character (even after he becomes a Christian), and the theology on healing.
Additionally, I found the plot repetitive.
I have read a lot of books in this series, but either my reading choices have changed, or this series deteriorated. The last several I have read, I have not liked. I will not be reading any more in this series, and probably nothing else by this author.

Cute story but people need to understand that just because you pray it doesn't mean you'll be healed. This story unrealistically leads you to believe that if you come to Jesus and repent and believe that your life will end happily ever after and many times that isn't the case. Sometimes God lets us go through the suffering in order to mold us and shape our character. He cares more about our character than our comfort and you can't create a diamond without a lot of pressure

Joy and her brother Travis run away from abusive relatives. She meets Chase, and they join the circus, while Travis works on a ship. When Travis gets back, they try to find new work and peace. Chase gets new tigers to work with and Joy rides elephants.

Gripping historical fiction
Morris keeps you engaged with a strong plot and outstanding description. I like ALL of his books, and this series is meaningful in that it follows a single extended family. Very well done!!

This book has all the fun of the cervix; plus plenty of heartache and hurt. I have loved every book in this House of Winslow series.

The premise of the book was very good especially seeing a young girl get involved with the circus.
Though this got three stars because honestly I wanted to see those dishonest relatives faced further consequences for their actions. Forgiving your transgressors doesn't automatically mean they're off the hook you know.

This series by Gilbert Morris is one of my absolute favorites. Each book follows at least one member of a generation in the Winslow family tree and the member(s) gets saved and finds true love. There's also some commentary on the social conditions of the time frame. Truly interesting.

Takes place in the late 20s and circus acts involving lions.
