Joy Winslow is convinced her inheritance has been stolen by the greedy couple who took her and her brother, Travis, in after their parents' death. When Travis leaves to find work, Joy endures without him for only a short time before she runs away. Joy meets Chase Gallagher when he rescues her from a dangerous situation. Chase helps her find work in a circus, performing with the big cats. Torn by family loyalty, love for Chase, and a desire for revenge, Joy searches desperately for a path that will bring peace.
Gilbert Morris was one of today's best-known Christian novelists. He lived in Gulf Shores, Alabama, with his wife, Johnnie. He is the father to Lynn Morris and Alan Morris
7 - the drama of the circus life and working with the cats and lions was predictable that something like an accident would happen to Chase or Joy while working with the cats. The book ended all too soon when Chase takes Joy to the house he's bought in Florida for them to live in once they get married. Lots of back and forth between those two before they finally hook up. :)

Cute story but people need to understand that just because you pray it doesn't mean you'll be healed. This story unrealistically leads you to believe that if you come to Jesus and repent and believe that your life will end happily ever after and many times that isn't the case. Sometimes God lets us go through the suffering in order to mold us and shape our character. He cares more about our character than our comfort and you can't create a diamond without a lot of pressure

Joy and her brother Travis run away from abusive relatives. She meets Chase, and they join the circus, while Travis works on a ship. When Travis gets back, they try to find new work and peace. Chase gets new tigers to work with and Joy rides elephants.
Morris keeps you engaged with a strong plot and outstanding description. I like ALL of his books, and this series is meaningful in that it follows a single extended family. Very well done!!
The premise of the book was very good especially seeing a young girl get involved with the circus.
Though this got three stars because honestly I wanted to see those dishonest relatives faced further consequences for their actions. Forgiving your transgressors doesn't automatically mean they're off the hook you know.
This series by Gilbert Morris is one of my absolute favorites. Each book follows at least one member of a generation in the Winslow family tree and the member(s) gets saved and finds true love. There's also some commentary on the social conditions of the time frame. Truly interesting.
