Her mother was part of the women's liberation movement many years before it became fashionable. Her best friends are her mother and her sister, Dannis Spaeth (Cole), who now has two daughters, Amanda Belle Hofstetter and Maggie and lives in Utah. Susan grew up reading Zane Grey and fell in love with cowboys. Susan is a former newspaper reporter, with sixteen years experience on both daily and weekly newspapers. Since 1972, she has been married to James Kyle and have since settled down in Cornelia, Georgia, where she started to write romance novels. Susan and her husband have one son, Blayne Edward, born in 1980.

She began selling romances in 1979 as Diana Palmer. She also used the pseudonyms Diana Blayne and Katy Currie, and her married name: Susan Kyle. Dalton national sales awards, two Bookrak national sales awards, a Lifetime Achievement Award for series storytelling from Romantic Times, several Affaire de Coeur awards, and two regional RWA awards.

Inspired by her husband, who quit a blue-collar manufacturing job to return to school and get his diploma in computer programming, Susan herself went back to college as a day student at the age of 45. In 1995, she graduated summa cum laude from Piedmont College, Demorest, GA, with a major in history and a double minor in archaeology and Spanish. She was named to two honor societies (the Torch Club and Alpha Chi), and was named to the National Dean's List. In addition to her writing projects, she is currently working on her master's degree in history at California State University. She hopes to specialize in Native American studies. She is a member of the Native American Rights Fund, the American Museum of Natural History, the National Cattlemen's Association, the Archaeological Institute of Amenca, the Planetary Society, The Georgia Conservancy, the Georgia Sheriff's Association, and numerous conservation and charitable organizations. Her hobbies include gardening, archaeology, anthropology, iguanas, astronomy and music.

In 1998, her husband retired from his own computer business and now pursues skeet shooting medals in local, state, national and international competition. They love riding around and looking at the countryside, watching sci-fi on TV and at the movies, just talking and eating out.

I only read Tom's story;
3 stars
Tom is a financial advisor, and Elysia is a wealthy widow who sells couture fashion.
Tom and Elysia new each other 6 years ago when they had a ONS. It did not go well and shortly after Elysia moved away. Now Tom finds that when he moves to Jacobsville, Elysia already lives there too. Awkward coincidence? Hmmmm...
They tentatively reacquaint themselves but it doesn't take long for Tom's bad temper to push nasty words out of his mouth. This kinda becomes a habit, his jumping to the wrong conclusions and taking out his unhappiness on her.
Of course he learns the truth and also learns that Elysia's little girl looks a lot like him. Now how to convince Elysia to let him into their lives after all the douche bag things he's said to her...

It's a straight forward story but with a bit of a twist with their histories.
Elysia's brother plays match maker (as well as a few others) when he explains to Elysia about Tom's background. Now this was the part I was like WTF? If her brother new so much, and new about Elysia's daughter, Crissy, then why the F didn't he mention these pertinent deets sooner???
There's a fair bit of convenient verbal regurgitation from side characters to help the MCs bridge the gap.
But I still enjoyed it, and he grovels quite nicely. Both MCs were great (especially Elysia and her spine of steel... well aluminum I guess) but the story was too clunky to be more than 3 stars.

Safety is surprisingly good

==>Tom
2 virgins + pregnancy + reunion + Cute Kid + mutual fidelity + both with traumatic childhood + short and sweet

--------------
==>Drew Morris
a widower + still in love with deceased wife + Virgin + clumsy + asthmatic

"All it needs is a child running around, doesn't it, Eve?" Eve. Kitty froze in his arms. She felt as if every single hope died in her, right there.

"He'd called her Eve. They were never going to get past that, even if he did care enough to raise the roof of the emergency room because she'd had an asthma attack. Probably it made him mad because he cared."
---------------

==>Jobe Dodd
Cowboy with inferiority complex + Intelligent heroine and computer expert + both virgins + another woman interested in hero + both jealous and insecure

"She stopped at the doorway, her eyes as cold as a winter sky. Missy was lying across Jobe's legs, her head in the crook of his arm. He looked up and saw Sandy standing there, and an odd expression crossed his handsome face."
"We're married," he whispered unsteadily. "Two of the oldest virgins in the continental United States... Good God!"
"I guess it was worth waiting for, huh?" she teased.

Three Novellas Telling The Stories of Former Secondary Characters

Each of the three novellas in this anthology tell the stories of secondary characters from other Diana Palmer novels.

TOM WALKER is the story of Tom and Elysia Nash. Elysia is a widow with a young daughter who comes back into Tom's life. Tom knew her in New York and the two had a one night stand. Now they meet again. This was a story that was really good but would have been better at a longer length. Tom's issues were too deep to really be addressed in this short version. The story is connected to BETRAYED BY LOVE.

DREW MORRIS tells the story of Dr. Drew Morris and his new receptionist Kitty Carson. Drew is a widower who lost his beloved wife and has no intention of loving again. At the same time, he cannot forget his sweet receptionist. This was my favorite. I thought the story of these two was difficult and complex but also sweet. This novella is connected with COLTRAIN'S PROPOSAL.

JOBE DODD is the story of Jobe Dodd and Sandy Regan. Jobe and Sandy fight all the time. Of course, their antagonism masks their intense attraction to one another. I didn't like Sandy in this novella. She seemed stuck up and insulting. The story turned too fast to be satisfying to me. This novella is connected with REGAN'S PRIDE.

A LONG, TALL TEXAN SUMMER is the sixteenth book in the Long, Tall Texans series. It can be read as a standalone but there are numerous connections with the characters in these books.

I give this book 3.5 stars.

Tom Walker: 3 stars
I liked the book well enough, especially the new plot about Crissie. Diana Palmer usually doesn't have children in her stories. I also liked how the characters just come out and admit their love for each other, without stretching it out too long and DP introducing useless thoughts and insecurites about the characters for each other. It usually doesn't happen, so this story gets points for that.

Drew Morris: 3 stars
The story was cute, although Dr Morris was a jerk most of the time. It would have gotten 4 stars if it wasn't for him.

Jode Dodd: 2.5 stars
I disliked the way Sandy rubbed her education in Jobe's face, although I loved the end. Once again, I marvel at how easily the male admits his love, no insecurites whatsoever. I also loved the fact that Sandy didn't doubt him even once at Missy's accusation.

3 novellas…. DP can be hit or miss with her novella’s. Some are like snickers and they satisfy, while others are more like circus peanuts and you are like why did you bother. This anthology is a mixed bag. The story starts off at the Coltrain’s christening of their son. Coltrain's Proposal - Pinangan Coltrain

First up is the story of Tom Walker and Elysia Craig. Elysia is the sister of Luke CraigLuke which was another novella. Elysia used to work for Tom. They ended up sleeping together, and Tom fumbled the delivery and post cuddling. It made working for him awkward and she went back home. She ended up married and had a little girl. Tom ends up in Jacobsville, and opens a business. The h wants nothing to do with him. But of course that doesn’t last long. We end up getting the full story of their night together.

Everything works out in the end and they have their HEA. Matt Caldwell played a convenient non threatening OM in this story and he will do so in the rest as well. I thought this was kind of funny. He actually ends up helping each of the h’s land their men since he is the object of their jealousy. 3-4 ⭐️ for this one.

Next up is Dr Drew and Kitty his receptionist. This story actually takes place over a year, but since it is a novella, it is glossed over. We are to assume that the 2 are getting close over the year. It starts off with the h being a little haphazard as she learns the new job. She misses buttons on her cardigans and wears different colored socks, plus she is asthmatic. The Dr. tends to hesitantly look out for her as she has no one. However for the Dr. it will never be anything else because he is still in love with his perfect dead wife. Eve has been dead for about 6 years. They did not have children, as she miscarried then had cancer. I have said before 2nd chance at love stories can be tricky to pull off. I’m not sure DP pulled this off to my satisfaction. It is Eve, blah, blah, or Eve blah blah. He fights his attraction to the h, and is determined to stay true to his wife’s memory. He accidentally calls the h by his dead wife’s name, and he makes comparisons a lot. The h leaves town and eventually the H goes after her and proposes marriage. They marry and this is one of the last comments we are left by the H after the h notices the picture of his dead wife is no longer on the mantel.

.
Drew looked down into Kitty’s soft eyes and kissed her. “I won’t ever forget the past,” he said gently. “But I promise you that I’m not going to live in it ever again. We start together, here, now. You’re my wife, and I love you.”

I have no doubt that picture is in a drawer where he can get easy access to it whenever he wants. Dr. Drew will be “fine” with his younger wife, but I still had the feeling she was 2nd best. The only thing that will give her the edge is her ability to give the good doctor children. 2.5 ⭐️s Maybe I will see them in future stories and be surprised at the adoration for his wife. I guess as long as Kitty cat is happy then who am I to speculate. Too bad Matt only played pretend OM.

Lastly, we have Jobe and Sandy. I actually think I liked this story more as I read it, but now that I am reviewing it I am kind of meh. Jobe works for Sandy’s brother. Sandy is good with computers. She is attempting to teach Jobe how to use the new fangled contraption. He feels she is talking down to him, and she feels that she can never measure up. They have known each other since she was a teen. Hence the attraction between them has been there since then. She actually admits to the H that she was in love with him when she was 17 and he was 27. He admits in the HEA that he has loved her since he set eyes on her. There is a lot of back and forth between these two. There is an ow wannabe that tries to start major issues(but our h sees right through her) and there is a moment where H thinks the h is interested in her boss. So we get some jealousy. But here was the biggest shocker:
Overall, this was 2.5/3 stars ⭐️ as well. The first story, imo, was the best of the 3.

I have not read any of the mini-series and frankly when I discovered it was a set of others I thought, "Why oh why do I keep picking up books that are number 4 or 7 in a series when I haven't read the first lot?" Since this was given to me a long time ago by a friend who was addicted to Mills and Boon romances (her collection ran into the thousands, I kid you not!) I felt I ought to read it. I had just finished Stephen Fry's Moab is my washpot and it was heavy and tedious so a light-hearted read was just what I needed.

The stories themselves are all typical, boy meets girl, girl and he hate each other, or similar vein, end up 'realising' they love each other and go off and live happily ever after. In these three stories are connected by the people who know each other but entirely separate from each other. The main commonality seems to be some personal trauma to each character, be it abuse, death or some such, which creates their personality.
The fact that the characters seem to all desire marriage and kiddies seems to be the mainstay of most romance novels pumped out by the never ending authors. If this is all romance and love is to those reading them then god help us poor women who believe they don't need a man to be happy! By golly, these stories prove to you you must be married! Ha, no wonder my friend who gave me this book is still single at age 58 and never had a boyfriend, real men would just never measure up to the standards of these written on paper characters!

Generally though, it was ok. If the doctor character was real he would be up for abusive behaviour in a workplace. There were more similar things like that but alas, it is a fantasy book to provide women that flutter of the big hero male showing his vulnerabilities.
Readable if you like this sort of book.

This book contained three novellas. Tom, Jobe and Dr. Drew Morris.

All three were typical in that they were not very nice to the women in their lives. Tom and Jobe's stories were second chances of sorts and Dr. Drew was a window so in a sense his story was too.

I liked all three stories but was left wanting a bit more to their stories.

It's an ok read. A bit blah, really. This book has three stories about side characters you came across in past books. I am finding it hard to write a review about this book because there was nothing special about it. I think Diana Palmer didn't really try. She didn't really give her best, and i am annoyed that i spent money in this sur par effort. Forgettable stories.

Yeah it was OK - although DPs heroes don't really suit the short novella length books as they go from raging assholes to marriage proposals in 20 pages flat. Second story with the doctor and his crazy obsession with buttons and hair was my fave.

Homens do Texas 16.1
Longo Verão No Texas:
Tom & Elysia
Diana Palmer

Homens do Texas 16.2
Longo Verão No Texas:
Drew & Kitty
Diana Palmer

Homens do Texas 16.3
Longo Verão No Texas:
Jobe & Sandy
Diana Palmer

ADORO!!!

This is three different stories:

Tom Walker & Elysia Nash: 3 Stars

This was a very sweet short story, I think ut could have been a bit longer as everything seemed a bit rushed, but it was still an enjoyable read.

Dr Drew Morris & Kitty Carson: 3 Stars

Again this was a very cute little story about finding love again. Kitty was DP's typical virgin heroine and Drew was a man who didn't want to fall in love again after his beloved wife had died six years earlier.

Jobe Dodd and Sandy: 3.5 Stars

This was my fave story out of all 3, about two people who have been in loe with eachother for years but are both to afraid to admit it.

This book had three short stories.

i found them all very good. I liked the first two the best.

They were all about the trademark virgin and all quite lovely, especially since they were set sometime ago.

it wasn't something that was too hard to put down, but if you like DP formular you will love these.

What we have is a story about three men who are confirmed bachelors in a small town in Texas who meet three women who change their minds. There's plenty of action going on and each storyline has it's own unique situation.

There were 3 different stories. They were very short with little character development. For the most part, romance novels are very predictable but with the limited amount of time spent on each character it took some of the enjoyment out of it.

I liked the romance of Dr Drew Morris and Kitty Carson the best of the three romances. It's typical D.Palmer, the H's so cruel at times it takes your breath away, nothing different there for a DP book. It just seemed that everything was a tad rushed.
