i almost want to say this should be a 3.5.

reading a kenneth hagin book is hard sometimes. they are good in that they have information in there that he learned in his walk with God, but they are hard in that he doesnt really explain things, and when he does, sometimes his conclusion isnt really supported by Scripture and is even wrong at times.

what i love about this book is that it was pioneering in the topic of the anointing. as i understand, there were many, many years in which you just couldnt find many books on the subject. even sermons on this were rare. hagin really brings some insight to what the anointing is, parsing Scripture with personal experience. because there is so much of both, it's a real gem.

my problem with this book is what i stated earlier: more times than i'd like, i found myself scratching my head in confusion and even shaking my head in disagreement. at one point he even said that Jesus was anointed without measure (scripturally accurate), because he wasnt fully mortal. umm...WHAT?! that's not right! that's a tad too much like gnosticism! he says other things in here that werent as bad. in fact most of the things he says that i found disagreeable were more like "ehh...i dont think that's exactly right..." rather than "that's blatantly wrong." the interesting thing about all this is that he even explains why some ministers have amazing anointings on their lives yet their doctrine isnt correct. he explains that God is gracious in this area and will anoint regardless of correct doctrine (thank GOD! because i'd probably be in trouble!). i just found it a little ironic that Hagin was in the same place as people he mentioned in this context. Hagin had an incredible impact on the modern church in the latter 20th century, and really awakened the Church to truths about faith, authority, love, the Word, hearing the Holy Spirit, the anointing, spoken words, and individual callings. it's just that you have follow his age-old advice and "eat the hay and spit the sticks."

ultimately, this is a solid book, but i think this is more a book that should be titled "Anointing 101" as it doesnt answer all the questions it raises and leaves you wanting more info on the subject. if you can get past some of the questionable theology at times, this is a great book to learn some practicality of how the Spirit of God operates--ESPECIALLY in a corporate setting. i think this really will leave you hungry for more. and that's never a bad thing.

Kenneth E. Hagin and Rhema Bible Training College have taught me so much about faith and following God! Understanding the Anointing explains what it means to be called to the five fold ministry and the anointing that operates in each office. To be honest, there's still a lot that I don't understand, but it planted some seeds that I pray grow into greater knowledge.

Making sense of the diverse manifestations of the Holy Spirit. Measure of the anointing-we can intuitively tell there are levels and times. Some of it is hard to relate to-such distinct individual experiences.

God bog, fortæller hvordan en kristen kan være ledt af Helligånden, og Helligåndens salvelse. Bl.a. at være i profetisk henrykkelse som på Kong Davids tid.

When I read this book a couple of years ago, Rev. Hagin deepened my understanding of the anointing of God's Spirit especially in the life and ministry of a Minister.

"People think you can just turn it off and on as you want, but it is as the Spirit wills. Yes, the anointing is there potentially, but it's not in manifestation constantly! As you prepare, study, and yield to the Spirit of God, the anointing will be there to function in that office, but you don't stand in your office all the time. (Kenneth E. Hagin, Understanding the Anointing, Page 73)

This book is written in a format that causes one to think that Kenneth Hagin is speaking directly to you. Sometimes this is great, other times it is hard to get a handle on what the author is trying to communicate.

I would not classify this book as an exhaustive book on The Anointing. I think it comes more in line with the experiences that the author has had of the Anointing during his many years of ministry. It certainly helps to have real life examples of how he has personally operated in the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

You can't put the anointing in a box. This is what I felt the author was trying to communicate in this work. God works in many ways...in diversities of gifts and ministries. The way one person ministers may not be the way that God has called you to minister. So, having the leading of the Holy Spirit is critical.

there were some really thought-provoking things in this book. the hardest part for me is that the scriptures and stories did not always seem to go along with his point. he would also leave a lot of thing hanging and not quite validated. it's a good starting point book, but i would have to go elsewhere to have my questions completely answered.

You can learn what the anointing really means! It helped me personally to understand what it is. If every church could at least read the section on corporate anointing and really take hold of it, it would change the churches and the body of Christ. I also like it much when he speaks about the importance of worship! Kenneth Hagin was a real faith warrior!

Great book

I've always loved Brother Hagin books. I have had so much help from his books this book helped because I was told that there are so many different types of anointing some I knew but many I didn't know. He writes in words that I can understand and then backup with the Word of God.

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him. For the anointing shall break the yolk. Bless the name of Jesus!

The anointing of the Holy Spirit is not only real, but active. Whether it is preaching, teaching, evangelizing or prophesying, God's anointing separates men and women from the lot. The teacher Hagin therefore shares Biblical truths drawn from the Bible and from decades of walking with God. The spirit of the anointed hovers upon their written materials, I am certain that I am imparted by the spirit of Hagin behind the letters. Bless the Lord.
