Fate's Falls #1

Mated to the Minotaur (Fate's Falls, #1)

Rate this book
A steamy and sweet, fated mates, monster romance with a guaranteed Happily Ever After!
When my cousin calls—in tears because her parents won’t accept her fiancé because “his skin is a different color”—I give her the “we ride at dawn” support she needs and deserves. Which lands me in the position of maid of honor for her upcoming wedding—in exactly three weeks.

Juggling my work schedule, booking a flight halfway across the country, and getting a dress that’s “any color other than green” are doable. Making other arrangements in a town Google can’t locate is more challenging. Not wanting to add to my cousin’s stress, I ask for the best man’s contact info under the guise of coordinating with him about wedding stuff.

Constantine is happy to help. With a hotel reservation. By sending me the numbers for my cousin’s hairdresser and the nail salon. A couple of text messages in, we switch to phone calls to make it easier to discuss the wedding rehearsal party plans. And his voice…it’s enough to make me swoon. Or spontaneously combust. Both at the same time, honestly.

Our calls don’t end once the plans are hammered out. They get friendlier. More personal. To the point that I’m the one with pre-wedding butterflies when I arrive in the mysterious town of Fate's Falls. I don’t know what Constantine looks like, nor do I care. I’m not superficial or a racist like my cousin’s parents. I’m as open-minded as it gets.

But I’m human. As in, literally. And Constantine…is not. Also literally. The man I’ve been crushing on is a monster, and a huge one at that. The hulking minotaur could crush me—again, literally—in one of his massive hands. Logically, I should be scared, but I’m the opposite. I assume it’s because I’m the adventurous type, and more than a little curious to know if the hunky minotaur is monstrous all over. It's just some wedding fun, right?

Constantine has other ideas. He insists our connection is deeper than physical chemistry. He believes we’re mates. As in, fated mates.

I came to Fate's Falls to support my cousin and maybe have some fun with the deep-voiced best man before going back to my life already in progress. But apparently, once you’re mated to the minotaur, there’s no going back.

Quick, hassle free read that has fated mates, small town vibes and of course, plenty of supernatural creatures.
I did pick this one on a whim and overall it was an alright story. It was a bit heavier on the intimate scenes to be honest, but it did have a storyline to follow as well. I love good small town vibes and this mixed community did offer quite a bit of that.
Lately, I have been craving monster romance, so this one did fit the bill. The writing itself is alright, smooth transition between scenes and ridiculously sweet characters. Overall, I did enjoy it and I might read one of the other books in the series at some point.

A fluffy, feel-good monster romance with just the right amount of spice. This book made for a cozy rainy day read. Something about Karla Doyle’s writing speaks directly to my soul. I swear I could hear Constantine’s deep, rumbling laugh through the pages. And the town of Fate’s Falls? Utterly idyllic. Who wouldn’t want to be surrounded by sexy, sweet monsters who’d do anything for their mate?

❤️‍🔥 Fated mates
❤️‍🔥 Size difference done right
❤️‍🔥 Kinky smut with heart
❤️‍🔥 Sunshine, humour and sass
❤️‍🔥 A twist I didn’t see coming
❤️‍🔥 A loveable supporting cast
❤️‍🔥 Unputdownable
❤️‍🔥 A romance that feels like a warm hug (with horns)

Constantine and Natalie are two wildly obsessive characters. The two bond before even meeting and the insta-lust/love is strong. The book is super short and does not take it's time in moving things along. In fact she's basically climbing her Minotaur in under 24 hours of meeting in person. There's some monster loving, mildly scary monster porn and sex toys. Packs a whole lot in a small package so if you're looking for something quick, bitterly sweet and adorable look no further.

Surprisingly good.
The MMC is the most respectful and sweet cinnamon roll. Nothing but green flags and soft possessiveness.
Honestly I Loved the MMC and FMC. Both total cinnamon rolls.

Monster (Minotaur). No angst. No drama. No OMD/OWD. No cheating. No breakup. Fated mates. 1/8 fairy FMC.
HUGE cock (need both hands and barely touch around the girth). Tail. Stuffing/stretching. Anal play. Epilogue 8 months later, considering getting pregnant.

Gleeful Goblin Review: I'm always a sucker for no to low angst monster romance and I'm thrilled to say that this book (and author) deliver on that front BEAUTIFULLY. There's something about minotaurs that are the secret cinnamon roll despite this big burly outward appearance that just sends me. Add on these kind of descriptions about his voice alone and it's a wrap: "The phone rings before I can second-guess myself. I don’t usually answer Unknown calls, but the timing would have to be a huge coincidence, so I take the chance and pick up. “Hello?” “Hello, this is Constantine Tavros. Am I speaking with Natalie?” His voice is so deep. Smooth and rich, I can almost feel it wrapping around me, like midnight-blue velvet. That’s right, midnight blue. Not just any color of velvet. My brain is oddly specific about stuff like this. Also, I’m going to need Rosetta to send me a picture of this guy. For now, I’ll use my imagination. He’s tall, dark, handsome, and built. All over, of course. “Yes, that’s me,” I say, pulling myself together before I end up sounding like a phone-sèx operator. Notebook and pen in hand, I move from my desk chair to the couch. “Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I know it’s early there; you must be a morning person, like me. If I sound tinny, it’s because I put you on speaker so I can write things down.” “Your lovely voice is perfectly clear.” Lovely? I assume he’s just one of those innocently flirtatious guys, but in his voice, the compliment gives me the warm fuzzies and the tingles. It has been a while since I had a date. Even longer since I had a memorable one. “To answer your text,” he says, “I was expecting to hear from you. I told Rosetta to give you my number.” “Oh, I didn’t realize. That’s so thoughtful. Thank you.” A rumble even deeper than his voice comes through my phone’s speaker, making it vibrate where it’s propped against a cushion. It isn’t a laughing rumble, nor is it an angry sound. It’s something else. Something…primal. No, Natalie, it’s not. Get your head out of the bedroom, you séx-starved fool. I give my head a shake and clear my throat as covertly as possible. “I’m sure you have things to do, so I’ll try not to take much of your time.” “You’re welcome to as much of my time as you want, Natalie.” Another ripple of yes please runs through me. Most people shorten my name to Nat, which is fine, but I like the way my full name sounds in Constantine’s voice. He says it as if he’s tasting it. And liking it."

THEY HAVE NOT EVEN MET IN PERSON YET BUT HOT DIGGITY DANG I WAS HOPELESSLY HOOKED. So if all this sounds like fun for you too pick this book up immediately. 5/5 Stars

3 🌟 is a bit generous - read on KU

Honestly, I can't tell you if this is a good author, but this novella isn't great. It's boring. So boring. The whole plot is will she or won't she accept the minotaur as a mate and move to this little town. Of course, she's going to. Otherwise, it wouldn't be a book.

If this book was erotica, the lack of plot would be expected, but the spicy scenes were cheesy and uninteresting. While I don't knownif this author can write a better book, I'd wager to say I wouldn't read any of them for the spice. Those scenes are pretty bad.

I liked the addition of the fairies. That probably kept me from giving it w stars.

The series as a series, I'd give 1 🌟. That isn't anything against any of the authors but the books are nothing alike. They aren't set in the same world other than the men are literal monsters and the women are human, or at least humanoid. I found this series because of Maggie Mayhem. In her books, humans are aware of magic and monsters and the monsters wear cloaking spells so humans won't see their monster shapes for those that don't shift into something fully human. Obviously, the series is just a way to get people to read different authors. While that isn't uncommon, usually there is some thread that ties them together. I've never read one that didn't.

I'm not a fan of PNR books where the non-human doesn't have a human form. That's just me and I didn't let it influence my rating. However, I wouldn't read more by this author for that reason alone unless her books were exceptional. With Maggie Mayhem, at least some of the monsters can take a human shape.

This is the 3rd book I've read in this series and is the least interesting. I wouldn't recommend this series. I'd check out other books by these authors if you are interested, because even the Maggie Mayhem book wasn't anywhere close to as good as most of her other books.

Her cousin's fiancé is a what?

Natalie Somers is an artist, currently working on a commission. Lately she seems to be losing her zest for drawing. It's beginning to feel more like a job rather than the zestful creating it once was.

Her parents become full-time RVer's when they retired, and even at the age of twenty-eight, she misses them. Video chats can't give hugs. She had her cousin/best friend, Rosetta, or Ro, to rely on until she, too, decided to travel to meet Dak, a man she met on the internet, fell in love, and moved away a year ago.

Now she's called and is in tears because of her parents. She and Dakgorim, or Dak, are engaged, but they refuse to accept him because of his skin color and vow they will disown her if she marries him. She wants Natalie to be her MOH and to come early to help with the planning. Natalie can pick whatever dress she wants to wear, as long as it's not green.

Fate’s Falls, the town where the wedding is to take place, can't be found on Google. To make things even more frustrating, Ro isn't answering her phone. Thank goodness Ro passed on Constantine's phone number before she stopped responding.

Constantine Tavros is Dak's best friend and will be the Best Man at the wedding. He agrees to help Natalie with the wedding plans since Ro is easily distracted and often fails to return Natalie's calls or texts. He owns The Brew in Fate’s. It's a coffeehouse during the day and a brewpub at night. He's also owns Bullheaded Brew, a small- batch brewery.

I picked this up from the authors store/special edition sale (books 1 and 2) and accidentally read book 2 first haha. I loved book 1 way more than book 2 and hope more comes out in SEs so I can grab more of these and read more from this fun town.

I liked how things happened for Natalie and Constantine! I thought he was such a cinnamon roll and wish I had a guy that was that attentive and thoughtful and just so yummy! I mean if I could live in a cozy monster romance world I totally would. I appreciated how when she was blindsided it wasn't 100% in with everything, she needed her brain to catch up and take things slower since it was a huge development. I didnt like her cousin kept things from her but I understand the concept.

I liked the chemistry between this two, it was so steamy but sweet at the same time. I enjoyed this storyline and the developments but did wish we got more of her art (maybe more in others books?). I liked the set-up and the flow, it was well paced and it didnt feel like a novella to be honest. I was shocked about the ending with her parents and I won't spoil anything for you, so there! The monster parts of a minotaur were fun in this sweet cozy but spicy book, liked his huffing and tail action haha and come on, the horns! The other things were done well (like logical for a monster romance haha) and I liked that despite them being mates it wasn't instantly saying I love you. Even though it was still quick, it felt more reasonable in the storyline pacing, if that makes sense.

I had no idea this was a shared world so I need to go track down the other authors so I can read more from this amazing town hidden to everyone!

NATALIE, 28, is working on some commission pieces when she gets a call from her cousin, Ro. She's getting married in three weeks and her parents are not coming and in fact don't like her fiance. So she's asked Nat to come early on her dime. So off she goes. She's been given the name of the best man, Constantine Tavros. She's headed toBritish Columbia to a small town with practically no type of shopping and amenities. Fate’s Falls does have a lot of paranormal creatures. Dak is an orc and Constantine is a minotaur. Constantine knows Natalie is his mate but is leery of how she will react.
Natalie makes it to her cousin and finally meets Constantine and is shocked when she finds out what he is. But she sort of takes it ok if the swooning is included. Then her time is spent visiting her cousin, meeting her fiance and learning about Fate's Falls. Then her parents say they're coming to visit. Then she learns some information that literally knocks her off her feet!
Will she stay? Will she leave? And what did she find out?
A fascinating story about a new type of monster not normally written about.

Artist Natalie (h) struggles after her parents' move and her best friend Rosetta's relocates to the small town of Fate's Fools in British Columbia where she's soon to be married. Natalie is to be Rosetta's maid of honor and support when the bride's family opposes her upcoming marriage to Dak. Getting little information from Rosetta, Natalie turns to Constantine (H), Dak's best man, and she soon finds herself connecting with him over phone calls in ways that she's never done with anyone else. She heads to Fate's Fools, unaware that Constantine, the man she's been falling for, is a minotaur, and that most of Fate's Fools is made up of otherworldly beings, and she is in for some bug surprises. After getting over her initial shock, Constantine and Natalie connect further and grow closer, with Constantine revealing to Natalie that she is his fated mate. Things heat up between the two, even as Natalie adjusts to Constantine's pursuit of his mate, the dynamics within Fate's Falls, and family. Ultra-hot and steamy minotaur fated mates romance with size difference, preparation, finger play, special fluid fun, quirky friends and family, and more.

If ever you wanted a sweet and relatively uncomplicated romance this is one of the best. It is very low angst for those timed when you just want the happy ending. It is not instalove although both Constantine and Natalie can feel the pull towards each other. There is a gentleness to their romance and it is somewhat old fashioned but no less steamy and sweet for all that. Natalie just comes across as a joy, someone you'd want to be your friend even though she is not generally adventurous or outgoing. Constantine is such a darling and a complete cinnamon roll. He is kind, caring and doing all he can to ensure that Natalie does not feel pressurised while also always being as truthful with her as he can. I'm off now to read Dela & Shay's stories too. Just love this world and wish I could live there too!

Not sure why all the monster smut I’m picking up just keeps being wild spunk fests, but there you have it. Picked this one up after starting Doyle’s short story in the Monsters in Love Vol 6, finding out there was a previous minotaur romance in the mix and immediately had to go find it. This was a cute little instalove novella in which the FMC discovers that magic & monsters exist (I’m currently in the middle of reading A Marvellous Light and this will now forever be called “unbusheling” as far as I’m concerned).

However, Natalie finds out that she’s actually part-fairy, her parents have lied to her her entire life AND surprise they show up at her new monster bf’s house and… no one cares? Like she doesn’t even question it to their faces. Also she just moves to this tiny town like she has no job/ties to break in her previous life at all. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I just love the Fate Falls town and all the mix of characters that are in it. I loved that Natalie felt at home the minute she arrived, and that she meshed well with Constantine from that very first phone call. The secondary characters in this book are just as entertaining as the two main characters are. Especially Lexi and Flora. Lexi's shop is the absolute best! I would love to have one of the products she sells - especially if it's guaranteed satisfaction every time. Flora's ability to recognize Natalie the minute she steps into the shop is so cool. And then the scene at the end when Natalie's folks show up - just priceless!.

'When I woke up this morning, I was panicking about only having two days before flying out to British Columbia. Now, those two days are going to seem like the longest ever.'

I loved this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Natalie and Constantine. They had such a strong connection before they even met in person. I love the concept of a secret town of a variety of monsters that the majority of the world doesn't know about. It's becoming one of my favorite tropes. Natalie reuniting with her cousin Rosetta, who breaks the news of monsters to her felt very realistic and not over-the-top. I liked the way their relationship developed. I also liked Ro and Dak. A fun, sweet read. 5 stars

Another visit to Fates Falls

Mated to the Minotaur by Karla Doyle is part of the multi-author Mated to the Monster series. The story also ties into the Fate's Falls world. I really enjoyed this story about Natalie Somers and Constantine Tavros. They meet as she is the maid of honor for her cousin Rosetta and he is the best man for his best friend Dak. When Natalie agrees to help Ro plan her wedding, in two weeks, she contacts Dak for some help with the local businesses. What Natalie does not know is that Dak is a minotaur, so that is a bit if a surprise. The connection between these two is off the charts hot and very passionate...so get ready to have your Kindle burst into some flames.

Good

Natalie and Constantine

Heading to Fate’s Falls to be her cousin’s Maid of Honour, Natalie is surprised when her cousin reveals that her groom is an Orc, and that Natalie is staying with the best man, who just so happens to be a Minotaur.
Constantine instantly recognised his fated mate, now he just needs to convince Natalie that they are meant to be together!

This is a fun, monster romance, with a bullish Minotaur hero, and a human heroine. Natalie is an entertainingly unprejudiced character, while Constantine is very much the cinnamon roll hero.
There are plenty of steamy scenes in this story of instalove and fated mates, and it’s a quick, enjoyable read for the monster romance lover.

I loved Mated to the Minotaur Fate's Falls. Natalie was going to Fate’s Falls for her cousins wedding. She felt a connection to Constantine over the phone and text but was in for the surprise if her life when she met him, he’s a Minotaur. She’s not sure she believes jn the mate bond of if she even wants to stay in Fate’s Falls. She’s learning new things about herself everyday and it’s time to think about what her future holds. I loved the storyline and the characters. I love the twist at the end. I would definitely recommend this book and the series.

They connect instantly over the phone but he is anxious that she will reject him when she arrives at Fates Falls and realises he is not human! Natalie and Constantine's journey of love is a fated mates one. She's in Fated Falls for her cousin's wedding when she talks to the best man Constantine on the phone sparks fly, so meeting in person she gets quite the surprise. What a shock it was that the man you are falling for is a minotaur and the small town he lives in is populated with monsters. This is a steamy, fated mates, monster romance with quirky characters, family drama, unexpected twists, humor, and a happily ever after. Mated to the Minotaur is a great addition to the multi-author Mated to the Monster series. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this fun series. MFC Natalie considers herself very open minded and traveling to Fate’s Falls for her cousin’s wedding as maid of honor will put that way of thinking to the test.
Fate’s Falls is a town populated by monsters and the best man just happens to be MMC Minotaur, Constantine.
Mated to the Minotaur is a charming, sweet, steamy, insta-love romance that is a well written paranormal of fated mates who along with some humor discover each other and love in an entertaining and enjoyable read.

This was such a fun addition to the Fate's Falls series and I loved Natalie. She's to be maid of honour for her cousin, Rosetta, but can't get much info from her and ends up reaching out to Constantine, the best man. She's so open minded, and it's a good thing, because him being a Minotaur was sure a shock when she got to Fate's Falls ;D These two are fated mates, though, and I loved their connection. Expect to get caught up in the quirkiness of Fate's Falls, quite the size difference, friends, family and a steamy HEA in this lighthearted romance. Good fun!

I am a Minotaur, hear me low!!!

Natalie and Constantine both give the big insta love/lust feels in this small town fated mates monster romance. AS you read you can feel their connection straight away. This is a low angst, sweet and steamy read with a guaranteed happily ever after. The plot twist at the end was cute and explains a few things that occur throughout the story.

This in a standalone read that is a part of the interconnected Mated to the Monsters Series.

I loved this story as it was a quick and easy read, making it the perfect palate cleanser.
