Their anger will either bring them together or destroy what could have been. Pearl Smith is angry at the world. Stolen as a baby and raised under torturous conditions now she uses those same skills to save other innocents, but it doesn't abate her anger. Nothing does, until a random encounter with a DEA Agent. Now the two are undercover with only each other to rely on, problem is they don't like each other. DEA Agent Jesse Masters needs answers. A cartel sold his little sister and he lives for one purpose, to find out who she was sold to and if she's still alive. The last thing he wants is someone from Prey Security getting in his way. He blames the company for what happened to his family and he has no intentions of getting along with their operative. Easier said than done when he can't stop obsessing over her.
USA Today bestselling author Jane Blythe writes action-packed romantic suspense and military romance featuring protective heroes and heroines who are survivors. One of Jane's most popular series includes Prey Security, part of Susan Stoker's OPERATION ALPHA world! Writing in that world alongside authors such as Janie Crouch and Riley Edwards has been a blast, and she looks forward to bringing more books to this genre, both within and outside of Stoker's world. When Jane isn't binge-reading she's counting down to Christmas and adding to her 200+ teddy bear collection!
Jane Blythe is always a must read author for me. I love her romantic suspense novels where enemies become lovers. They go through hell to find their happy ever after…and this time it’s Pearl’s turn.
Pearl is one of four women who were stolen when they were young girls. They were used, abused and tortured. They consider themselves family and Pearl knew that without Ivory, Lacey and Opal, she never would have made it. Pearl had a mission. She had just recovered from a gun shot wound and was determined to find the six little girls that she had left behind.
DEA Special Agent Jesse Masters will have to work with Pearl, who works with Prey Security. He holds them responsible for his brother’s death, so it won’t be an easy alliance.
I had some issues with Pearl’s Fight, but I was already invested in her welfare from prior novels, so I knew I would enjoy it anyway. Jane Blythe always has me ripping through her stories having to know what hell she will put her characters through…and how they will manage to survive. I love her kickass ladies and her hunkalicious men. I am eager to dive into the next book in the series, Lacey’s Fight.
This is the second wonderful story in the women's branch of Prey Security. I love these characters, their flaws, vulnerabilities and strength. Pearl's history will break your heart, but it made her the strong woman she is today. On a mission with DEA agent Jesse, she doesn't like him but he makes her body sing. They can deny all they want, but fate may win. This author did a brilliant job with these characters, they both had a massive amount of baggage. Obviously to protect themselves their defences were up, could they chip away at each other and have their HEA? This is a story with all the emotions and I loved it all through the highs and lows.
Dear lord what a magical whirlwind of a ride!! This is a truly beautiful and heartfelt story bringing with it a maelstrom of emotions that just floored me.
The talent and purity of love for her writing is clear and present in every single word, every comma and full stop. Jane has, without a doubt, created a magnificent world with Prey and it’s an honour to meet up with old friends and follow everyone’s lives.
This is where you find old and new friends. Where you get an open invitation to walk side by side as they traverse their rocky and dangerous path.
Pearl is such a true badass. Given her cruel and catastrophic younger years, because Pearl and her sisters did not have anything remotely like a childhood is supposed to be. How they survived I have no idea but it’s a true testament to their strength of character that they did.
I am in serious awe of this woman. She has taken her pain and suffering, and with her sisters, turned themselves into a weapon against the evil of the world.
Jesse is a serious, alpha male badass. It’s in his genetic makeup. I absolutely adore him. I could feel his pain through the pages. His daily struggle to keep his defences up so no one could get in. If he pushed people away they didn’t get a chance to hurt or leave him. I can relate to this, I felt this exact way after my husband’s suicide. I think it’s out instinctive way to protect ourselves.
It’s hardly surprising that their pasts has shaped the way they both keep people out with the impenetrable brick wall protecting them.
Watching the instant chemistry spark between Jesse and Pearl was heart racingly addictive. Their bond and need for each other shone like the brightest star in the night sky.
This book is full of passion, chemistry, anger, evil, action and an emotional depth that floored me.
Can’t recommend this highly enough. Jane Blythe is a true master of her trade.
These two angry people come together by accident and find a common goal. Pearl doesn’t like anyone except her sisters and Prey. “You’re lucky that all I did was hit you once.” She is one tough woman.
“I’m not quite sure I believe you,” Lacey said slowly. “Ditto,” Opal added. “Thirded,” Ivory chimed in. “That isn’t even a word,”
Jessie is angry with the world and blames Prey for the deaths in his family.
Her entire body craved his touch, it was an odd sensation but not odd bad.
This one was action packed and edge of your seat suspenseful from start to finish.
Pearl has been watching Edgar. She knows he has the six little girls her and her sisters have been looking for. After some idiot distracted her, she lost him. When some idiot, the one that distracted her, makes a move on her and before she can do something about it, he is gone. Jesse has been tracking Edgar for taking his sister. Now he got distracted by some woman and lost him. Then he realizes who she is. Jesse hates Prey. This is Pearl and she works for them. Then he finds out he has to work with her. Jesse and Pearl are not only starting to have feelings for each other, they are in a fight for their lives. Edgar has them. Pearl is taken to the Master. He taunts her and she gives it right back verbally but then he takes his anger out on her. Coach and the guys have been brought in to help find Pearl. With their help, will Jesse find Pearl? Will there be a happy ending?
Oh wow! Another FANTASTIC story by Jane! This one is about Pearl and Jesse. The beginning is as expected, the Smith sisters help each other out and help Pearl recover. Now the situation is dire to find the 6 remaining girls before a fate worse than death is put on those 6 girls. Jesse needs to find out about his sister so these two are basically thrown together to find the answers they need. Oh the perils they have to endure is definitely intense. We finally learn more about what the Smith sisters had to endure and that is totally devastating. Loved seeing Ghost and his team come to the rescue! Always love a happy ending. FANTASTIC job Jane! I would highly recommend this book!
Wow, Jane Blythe has out done herself again. Pearl's Fight is one intense read. Pearl is a very angry. Angry about what she & her sisters have gone through, and angry about all the bad in the world. She is recovering from a gunshot wound, when she decides to do some investigating of her own. Jesse is an angry DEA Agent who blames Prey Security for his missing sister and his brother's suicide. These two must work together, and man the sparks fly! As they get closer, can they get past their anger? Is this more than lust? This was another wild ride full of suspense, action and sexy times.
😏So out h, a virgin who doesn't like being touched is just had a frantic sex in alleyway with a guy she just met. Who apparently hell bent on hating her. Moreover it happened so suddenly and in the very beginning of the book so we have to endure the length knowing she lost her V willingly to a man who hates her. Like why? What's the point thn?
😏Ok and now she's saying she wasn't a virgin? Why they're conflicting the matter this much?
😏I don't like this pair. Pearl needed someone relentless and appreciative who'd try to understand her peeling all those layers not some enemies to lovers bs. Jesse constantly making Pearl feel like stupid is not my kind of love story in the making.(I don't care it's unknowingly) Him hating her and prey security is not making sense to me and I'm pretty sure I'll feel the same after knowing his bullshit reasoning. I hope she saves his sorry misogynistic ass multiple times.
😏That sandstorm washed all his assholeness as well? God I hope so.
😏I just remembered this author's happy endings don't feel like happy endings.
😏We keep hearing about Pearl's training but the author is not doing anything to make it appear. Moreover she's constantly getting injured. She's turning out like every other naive, horny h.🙄 The difference is she can fight and have supposed training. Add to that she did turned into a liability. And jerk Jesse's turning good only meant him being condescending about it and the way Pearl's character is turning I'm not really blaming him for that. Even I just roll my eyes now when she acts like a tough cookie cause it feels so forced.
😏She could have taken him down so why let Jesse do it? I'm kind of getting fed up of this turn. Scratch that she did need saving 🙄
😏As I said bullshit reason for hating prey security.🙄
😏They're building too much hype around Pearl and her girl gang's plan. I just hope it pays off and she doesn't need yet another saving. Like come on! Just one time where you prove yourself!
😏He keeps saying sorry🚩
😏It's really hard to like a book where you don't ship the couple. I also didn't like the timings of their sex escapades. It's like they just added bunch of sex scenes without considering what situation or stage of their relationship they're in.

Jesse and Pearl. Jesse was introduced in the first book of the Artemis series and with a big chip regarding Prey, but now we know why. Pearl was also introduced in the previous book with the same background as her sisters but with lots of anger. The two end up paired together in the search for the kids and Jesse’s quest for answers on his sister. Chemistry ensues and they work through their trouble on the run from a cartel. Truck and Coach and the rest of the Susan Stoker deltas are back and they play a great role in helping save Pearl and the kids. The ending is precious without much of a cliffhanger except that the Master is still on the run.
Wow this was great!! Prey Security agent, Pearl Smith is forced to team up with DEA agent Jesse Masters to locate his sister who was taken. This author really knows how to bring it. A fast action, high energy story about two people who shouldn't but do. Danger and dramatics really propel this book and I loved the intensity. The romance sets in once the animosity is out of the way. And the few steamy moments adds depth to the story. So well written, characters I could relate to and and a fast paced plot makes this a must read. Fantastic book!!
Jane writes about strong badass men and women who fight for what is right and for each other. Jessie and Pearl are perfect for each other as they both have anger running through their veins. But together maybe they can save each other and 6 little girls that need to get home.
The book was really good !! Started off really fast pace. And it was real tear jerker. I found that I just wanted to read as fast as I could to get away from the story line . because they were cornered every time you turned around and the was ticking me off lol. Anyway thank you for really good book!!
Jane has done it again. You could literally feel the chemistry between Jesse and Pearl. Love that hardened Pearl got her happy ever after. Can't wait for the next installment.
These two are so perfect for each other. I loved Pearl right away and I just knew she would fall hard and fast for the right man. Jesse's growth is awesome and I love that he was able to see the truth finally. Great book, can't wait for the next one.
I'm beginning to wonder if they are ever going to catch The Master. There's plenty of action, suspense, heat and new beginnings. Jesse learns some painful truths about his brother and sister. HEA.
In this Special Forces: Operation Alpha Prey Security, Artemis Team book two, Pearl Smith gets to have her story told. And boy, at times, I needed a minute before emotions overcame me—and believe me there are plenty of feelings:-both uplifting as well as devastating.
The four females in the Artemis Team all share the horror of the same childhood, and no matter how much more you find out about it, rage is probably the main reaction, as well as compassion. (Thus the need to debrief a tad.) But that’s what is so great about these stories, you truly feel a part of them, you get to know the characters more intimately and try to anticipate what might happen—good luck with that though! 🤣 This author loves to throw some curly twists and turns into her plots and I love them.
Jesse Masters is a DEA agent and one who hates Prey Security and the Prey family. He has his reasons but working with Prey is his worst nightmare. He is so much like Pearl that they instantly clash and I mean cymbals, pots and pans—you name it and that dreadful noise represents their meeting and feelings towards each other. Both are such control freaks that giving a millimetre is too much in their eyes—until they get to a do or die situation! Then things change drastically.
As the action and drama continue throughout the book, you might find yourself like I did, on the edge of your seat, talk about excitement plus! I honestly worry about what goes around in this author’s head! 🙃
Another terrific book with a solid storyline, amazing characters and intense suspense.
If ever there was a match made in heaven or perhaps hell it would be Jesse Masters and Pearl Smith. They both hate people with a few exceptions. They both are angry because of the hand life had dealt them. They have a common goal; taking down a cartel. Finally, neither of them were interested in any kind of a relationship. Too bad they can't stand each other but a brief but passionate encounter changes the course of their lives. When they're paired for a mission neither is happy about it but if they can accomplish their goals, the time spent will be worth it. What ensues is almost nonstop action, danger and intrigue. Instead of being the hunters they become the hunted. Yet throughout it all Jesse knows that he'll protect Pearl at any cost including giving his own life. Pearl is equally determined to make sure Jesse does not make the ultimate sacrifice. This story captured my attention on the first page and held it to the last. The intensity of the drama definitely had me at the edge of my seat at times.
I have said this many times before but I am a huge, huge fan of Jane Blythe’s books and all her wonderful characters and series. We have been given another outstanding book in the Prey Artemis series and you cannot help but fall in love with all the characters. Pearl and Jesse have a huge road ahead of them in their quest to bring justice to some truly evil people and although both have had to contend with some tragedies in their lives it only fuels their desire for justice to be served. It is a struggle for them both but together and with the help of Prey and Artemis team they are able to overcome some major hurdles and fulfil their quest. This book pulls at the heartstrings and the emotions are real and at times overpowering but that only adds to the wonderful story. Ms Blythe outdoes herself each and every time and I am just so fortunate to be able to read these books and enjoy the ride. Highly, highly recommend this book and series. This book is worthy of ten stars!
I received an arc copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
A journey to safety and to her heart We already met Pearl, and Prey Security’s Artemis Team in Ivory’s fight (if not, you should definitely read that one first).
When Jesse and Pearl meet, they have an instant connection. Little do they know that whatever they have, does not end at that first night. Jesse is an Alpha protector if there ever was one. He is set on one goal and one goal alone, but he did not count on Pearl whirling her way into his life, and into his heart. They start a mission together, which result in a thrilling race against the elements and against the clock. Count in a hostile cartel, 6 missing girls and this book is as much packed with action, as it is with spice. Two broken people who find each other against all the odds, and then together piece themselves back together. I honestly believe this is one of the best books in the Prey series Jane has written, and I could not put it down reading it.
'I didn't see you at first, Pearl. But now I see you'
Both Pearl and Jesse are masters of abrupt, angry and defensive, and with anyone else their walls and barriers remain high until they grudgingly allow them in. But the chemistry and attraction between the two of them blows any walls and defenses to smithereens. Lost and under attack with only each other to rely on, we see a whole new side to both Pearl and Jesse. We see the broken pieces the anger hides, the fear that they may fail others and the tentative hope that they can move on from their pasts and have a future.....together. I loved seeing this softer side to Pearl and her Angry Warrior, the unseen heroes in the shadows. I read this on Kindle Unlimited.
I love this authors works and usually I devour within 1 day ...this book took longer for me to read purely because it was an intense read,my poor heart couldn't cope!
Pearl is as tough as they come, but she was raised with violence and abuse and this is mentioned throughout this book as she is required to relive situations and suffer terrible violence.
The story does have a happy ending and from both main characters there is a lot of healing and acceptance required. I loved how the author managed to capture so well with the written word all these emotions but it sure was a rollercoaster.
