Omar AL Wareh, the writer behind the book, "Please Kill Me," is a thought-provoking man. By day, he is a mechanical engineer and a manager of an industrial company, but by night, he transforms into a profound thinker. Born in 1973, in Damascus, Syria, and has been living in Egypt since 1996, is a father of 3 children. He describes himself as “a staunch believer of kindness”.
This is what he recounts about his journey - In this corner of Amazon's literary world, I'd like to share my story. An invention lover, an admirer of great positive ideas, and a person who keeps doubting while thinking. Inspired by the "Pay It Forward" novel, I am working on an app and campaign to promote acts of kindness. ‘Simple gestures can ripple into profound change’ he says if a person helps 3, asking them to pay it forward to 3 more and so on…, and -in only 21 steps - if every helped person committed to this, the whole world population could be helped.
So, as you turn the pages of my first novel “Please Kill Me”, you will enjoy a journey driven by compassion, dignity, and great morals. I hope this journey resonates with you as an ode to kindness and the human spirit.
Please Kill Me, by the author, Omar Alwareh is a beautifully written story of how someone’s life can be altered by just one decision. This book was a gut-wrenching look into the world of two people. Robert, a successful businessman with a shocking diagnosis that leaves him with little time to spare, and David, a former hitman that is trying to live an honest life. When Robert receives this diagnosis, he starts planning the rest of what little time he has left and hoping that this plan can come to fruition.
This book led me to wonder what I would have done in the predicament that David found himself in. Would I be able to make the right decision? What would I do if someone I loved was suffering and they didn’t want to see their family and friends suffer too, while they watched his mind slowly deteriorate in front of them? Could I be that person to help them end their life? This book does that to you. It makes you question your own morals and what your moral values mean to you.
While reading this book, I felt so many emotions swirling inside of me. The anger at the fatal diagnosis of a man who had such a good heart. The love for his family, friends, and colleagues of whom he had greatly impacted their lives. And the overwhelming sadness I felt for the man who most definitely, had the biggest decision to make. This book had such a profound effect on me, I found myself with tears running down my face as I read the book.
It is a must-read for you avid readers out there! The title itself intrigued me, but the story behind the cover was worth so much more than what I paid to read it! A true to life story that will have you in tears and wanting to emulate the way this man led his life.
Initially, I approached "Please Kill Me" by Omar Alwareh with some uncertainty about how it would resonate with me. However, as I delved into the pages of the book, I found myself enjoying it a little in a way. The narrative takes readers on a journey alongside the characters Robert and David as they grapple with a profound moral question that ultimately becomes the crux of their journey. As the story unfolds, the depth of their experiences and the challenges they encounter draw readers into a web of moral complexities. Through the lens of Robert and David's perspectives, the book explores the intricate dynamics of decision-making, the ethical dilemmas that arise, and the personal growth that stems from confronting these issues head-on as well as for Robert to find a way to live with an illness he has. The transformation from uncertainty to enjoyment mirrors my own reading experience. The book's ability to immerse readers in the internal struggles and external circumstances of its characters contributes to its compelling nature. With "Please Kill Me," Omar Alwareh presents a narrative that prompts reflection, sparks empathy, and underscores the significance of the choices we make in the face of moral ambiguity. This may not have necessarily been a book for me, but I do wholeheartedly recommend this book to others!
"Please Kill Me" by Omar Alwareh is an emotionally charged and gripping novel that delves into the complexities of love, sacrifice, and the unimaginable choices one must make when faced with a devastating diagnosis. The book masterfully weaves together the lives of Robert and David, two vastly different individuals brought together by fate. Robert's impending mortality drives him to seek an unconventional solution, and the retired hitman, David, finds himself torn between his past and the chance for redemption.
Alwareh skillfully navigates the moral dilemmas that arise as these characters' lives intertwine. The narrative is both heart-wrenching and thought-provoking, immersing the reader in a roller-coaster of emotions.
The book's exploration of the human experience, coupled with its suspenseful plot, makes it a compelling read that will leave readers reflecting on the power of love and the choices that define us. Alwareh's storytelling prowess shines brightly in this evocative tale, leaving an indelible mark on the reader's heart and mind.
Emotional story centered around a devastating diagnosis
This is the story of Robert, who is diagnosed with a brain tumor and how he strived to face his inevitable end with courage. It gets even more interesting when Robert tries to recruit David (an ex hitman) to help with a very moral dilemma. This is definitely a story where I couldn’t wait to find out what happens next. It left me feeling deep empathy for both of the main characters, as well as their families. It was also very touching how Omar Alwareh incorporated attributes of his own father, who also passed away due to a brain tumor. Such a great unique story.
This book was so heartfelt and raw.....can a book be too good
Grab some tissues because this story was a tear-jerker for me. Please Kill Me was a first person perspective on the mental, as well as, physical aspects one encounters when they have a terminal illness. So many times, we read accounts given from a caretakers perspective. Either way is an emotional story. It was a wonderful read, that I totally recommend.
